I think it is F7F TIGERCAT/Bu. 80390 but it also could be 80425 or even a third seen so rarely it is not in any public photo database. As far as I can tell there are about 15 left. Maybe 5 flying ish condition

One visited the Warbird Museum here in Nampa, ID 3 years ago. Perhaps it was this one... I stood at the end of the runway and watched it land about 20 feet overhead.

I had the good fortune to fly in there a few years ago, and meet the late owner, and got the grand tour of course. While we were up in the tower (rode the regular elevator up, rode the pneumatic one down, yeah it has two), we started bragging about our runways. His may be the longest and best equipped private strip in the US, mine is one of the very shortest, at 400' and narrowest. I remember him telling me about how they excavated down 5', and than built it back up with an engineered series of compacted gravel, before the asphalt went down. He asked me what I did to mine, and I told him I ran the Kubota with it's brush hog up and down it 4 times and called it good! Expert advice from game biologists was used to determine the proper fencing for his strip (don't want to hit an antelope on take off in a fully fueled Lear, he said) mine, it's every critter for themselves. I made major points with Joe when upon leaving, I landed my fixed wing plane on a nearby ridge he had pointed out as a morning coffee spot he flew to in a helicopter, and emailed him the picture. A one of a kind experience, meeting him and getting the tour!

I was in Bagram AB in Afghanistan, and I would get woken up by those bad boys, they absolutely shriek. No mistaking that sound. You knew they were going after bad guys, so I always said a little prayer for them to come back. Didn't even mind getting woken up by the sound of freedom.
I am not a pilot, I wish I was, but i can imagine that after flying something like an F15 you would never want to stop. That Ranch is amazing, a real dream.
I just looked this place up on google earth, it is huge and amazing. And yes that runway can almost land anything, it's 7,507 feet long x 75. Awesome video and love the slo mo shots.
During the Korean War, a Marine friend of mine was a back seater in an F7F Tigercat. He would tell friends the pilot had an ejection seat while he got to sit on 500 gallons of avgas. Who knew?

The Montana ANG F-15s we’re sweet. Beautiful Tigercat. And yes that pod looks like a WWII era radar pod that was used mostly on Navy fighters like the night fighter versions of the Hellcat and Corsair. That’s beautiful country up there.
I was raised in P valley our Ranch in lower P. valley on Dawton lane, it is now a state park. My father and Grandfather ran cattle in the Valley. And sold the cattle to Jack McKinny a Cattle byer from Salmon at carrels from 1920s to 1950s at the begging of your film, That is close to May Idaho.
It sounded like they were just doing a photo shoot for one of the fighter guys that was on his last flight. That's the only reason those media guys were there and this vlogger along with them.

I was driving down from the summit of Powder River pass in my work vehicle and an F15 was flying up the canyon toward me. It was a weird feeling to have a fighter jet coming toward me from below where I was in my automobile.

Doesn't get old I remember playing at Langley AFB on the bones of an F86 setup in the park at the picnics in the early 60's. The F102's and F106's on the flight line my dad was repairing. The engines in the shop being rebuilt. Going out to the back of the base with my dad to the test cell. There they bolted down the engines to a test bed and ran them with the thrust going out over the bay. The sound was deafening. My dad was in charge of the test cell area. The planes could break the sound barrier then and break it they did, often. No, you never forget and it doesn't get old.

I've had that ranch idea in my head for a while including the lake. It's got'a be big enough for water birds to land on. ~ you neighbor

One of the many reasons I call Montana home. It's definitely not the people. It's the quiet areas where awesome exists. But it is pretty cool to see them having fun!
@@parkeranderson5074 Honestly it's the view Montana has to offer. The natives of Montana and those that have lived here 10 plus years are decent folks. A lot of people that have been moving in a recently are trying to turn Montana into exactly where they came from. There is a meth problem even here, crime is fairy low. We tend to clean our own streets of you catch my drift, but overall it's a great place. I live in flathead valley. It's beautiful. If you want more info let me know.

@@parkeranderson5074 Yes, there plenty of warm gear available lol. The plane are has higher winds like the Dakota's. Where I live there is 200 lakes with in a 50 mile radius, a lifetime of never hiking the same trail twice and Glacier National Park in the backyard. And if you're an honest hard-working individual you'll fit right in with the locals.

It's crazy because I have lived here in Panama City, Florida and I have seen these just coming out of Tyndall AFB all my life frequently. We used to live on base at the end of the run way. So used to the sounds. It's an every other day thing but I understand your excitement. 😀

I'd say thats a PC-7 not a T-6 texan II
@@vupilot, yep they are pretty similar though. This one is modified to look like a T-6 2. The landing gear is the clear modification.

You misidentified the coolest plane in that hanger; the F7F Tigercat is super rare and extremely cool!! (It's the navy twin engine in dark blue)
