    I am honestly really surprised how many people don't pay rent before the actual due date. That makes me really uncomfortable. I know that food is #1 but I always thought of rent as NUMBER ONE because they can evict out - much harder (and traumatic) to get emergency/free accommodation than free food. Hmmmm.

      Agree. I'd rather be hungry in my own home than eating in the street.

      I pay my rent very early. I don't pay ahead only cause i don't trust all property managers/landlords

    Once I get paid, I'll pay my bills. I NEVER wait until the due date. I say to myself it has to be paid anyway, so pay it now.

    I love how you connect one's mental capacity as part of making these important decisions. What a crucial element to realize that having these 4 walls in a framework that not only gives you a monetary peace but a mental one too. Thank you Stacey! PS Where did you learn your craft of public speaking? Trying to learn now....very scary!

    Thank you for posting this! I wear a uniform at my PT job, and that cuts way down on my clothes budget. I inherited a car two years ago; the expenses for gas/oil, basic maintenance, insurance, license, and stickers can be a bit challenging. But I only drive the car to work and back, to take it in for maintenance, and to the grocery store. No joy-riding for me or using up gas when I can walk or take public transportation (and limit those errands/trips as well). My cell phone bill is very manageable, but I need to get current on my electricity bill. Food is my biggest challenge because I don't like to cook, and I don't do it well. There are many times when I have a craving for something, and I have to eat out once in awhile. I try to pay rent as close to the first of the month as I can, depending on when I receive my paycheck.

    I want to try Dave's plan. I've been car free but moved to suburbia to save money on rent. I also have a roommate. Getting back and forth to work and having some sort of social life is quite a chore. I feel like life would be so much easier with a car but I don't know how'd I'd pay for it. What's crazy is people make you feel like you're less adult without a car and your own place or that there's something wrong with you which is dumb but they make fun of it so I don't usually tell people right off the bat. I do have a full time but I'm contracted so I get zippy benefits and pay my own healthcare which is my biggest monthly expense outside of rent. I'm trying to work on getting my food budget down I go about twice a month and split the cost with my roommate and spend about $70. I find the challenge difficult when I'm trying to be healthier. I'm also not the best cook lol. My biggest issue is my credit card debt and debt in general, but I keep saying I need this and that and keep going into debt. First furniture, appliances, then clothes, then a laptop, I joined a gym with my roommie and hired one of their PTs cause I was trying to get healthy and its my second biggest expense. I feel like I'm spiraling so I decided to go into my 401k from my last job to pay off some of the debt. I hate it cause I know it cost money but I didn't know what else to do. I'm getting rid of that PT at the end of the month but I really feel like I need a car of some sort but I can I'm barely making it with a roommate and my savings is almost gone so I'm lost at this point. I was thinking about doing a parttime but that's seems impossible without a car and my health isn't the best so doing two jobs seems kinda overwhelming. Sorry this was so long but any advise would be much appreciated.

      -Free exercices on RUclips, a carpet and old clothes. (We do not NEED fancy stuff to work out at home)🙌💐
      -Learn how to ride a bicycle, and use one to some extend.(personnaly, I am wayyyy to clumsy to ride, I was a public danger when I tried, so I am walking a lot instead. Walking is free AND it worked well in shaping my legs and belly)👍
      -No new make up until I nearly run out of what I have. It meant (for me) buying once a year instead of every month.🙏
      Good luck !😇

    Thank you Stacey, I get the concept of the four walls, I heard you speaking about that before and took notes, these little nuggets are very resourceful whether your in a small or large amount of unwanted financial pressure, you need to keep guard of your four walls...it's kind of like the beams that support your house and keeps it from falling on and round you.

    I have a 15 day grace period on my mortgage and because i set up my budget where the month's expenses comes from the month's income, my mortgage wont be paid until tomorrow (the 12th). I dont think of it as being late or behind or living gor free...I think of it as business as usual.

    • @FlyWon
      @FlyWon 6 лет назад +3

      The Fun and Budget Act agreed as those “grace periods” w/ mortgages are different than w/ rent (because theres no fees associated with it)

    Such a great video! Thanks for the reminder. I've been on BS2 for 5 years but moved a few months ago and did not spend enough time and energy to revisit this concept and get that solid before continuing with BS2 in my new living situation. I've had to focus on my food budget again and am still working to get that to a comfortable place, but still budget friendly.

    Stacey, I know you have your heart set on working part time..............but in dealing with your debt, it must feel like you're running in place as fast as you can without getting anywhere :( What would Dave Ramsey say to you if he were giving you one on one advice? He would probably say to increase your income. That means at least working full time till you are farther along in paying off your debt. It doesn't mean that you have to do it forever..............just till you get your head above water. What are your thoughts?

    We always pay our rent before the first because the bank is so crowded on the first. But then it messes up our landlord, cause he’s looking at a bank statement that doesn’t reflect it, lol. So now I take a picture of the deposit slip and send it to him.
