    Can you imagine a middle-class family being openly looted by a reputed and renowned corporate group like ICICI??
    If you think it is safe to blindly trust employees of a well-known and well-regarded bank, then you must watch this video to find out how this family's deposits worth Rs. 80-85 lakhs have been forfeited by the ICICI group.
    If you think that these clients signed the proposal forms for insurance policies and that therefore they only are to blame for the fiasco then you need to understand that an insurance company’s primary task is to underwrite the risk cover being sought by a prospective client. That is, the insurance company needs to satisfy itself if the prospective client is in a position to continue paying premiums regularly and if the risk cover being sought is as per the needs and requirements of the customer or not. This is done by way of verifying various declarations made in the insurance proposal form and the Agent Confidential report signed and submitted by the agent along with the proposal forms.
    Also as per the Guidelines on Anti Money Laundering program for Insurers issued by IRDAI, the insurance company is mandated to ensure that the insurance being purchased by a customer is reasonable (i.e. as per the needs and requirements of the customer). Accordingly, the customer’s source of funds, his estimated net worth, etc., should be documented properly and the advisor and/or employee should obtain income proofs, to establish the customer’s need for insurance cover. Also, the requirement of exercising detailed due diligence for all customers paying premiums higher than 1 lakh per annum by the insurer is clearly and specifically mentioned in AML Guidelines.
    The IRDA through its notifications has also mandated that all Life Insurance companies must adopt the practice of PIVC (Pre-Issuance Verification Call) to prevent mis-selling and unfair business practices and to ensure that during policy solicitation and sale stages, the prospects are fully informed and made aware of the terms and conditions of the product being sold.
    Hope the regulators put their foot down and ensure effective adherence to the laid down guidelines at least by reputed and renowned corporations like ICICI.
    Groups like ICICI also have a moral and ethical responsibility towards their customers and they are bound by their code of conduct policies for zero tolerance to such frauds and employees involved in such acts deserve to be severely punished.

    I had a bad experience with this bank long back. My FD matured. I dint notice . They kept it for over a year, no refund, no interest I had to fight to get interest.

    My sister runs a small school and has an account in a public sector bank. Her employee forged her signature on a cheque for 15,000 and ran away with the money. When my sister went to the bank to complain, an employee said, "Really, this isn't your signature? Please sign right next to the forged signature on the cheque so we can compare." She trusted him and signed. Right away, he said, "Now that you've put the correct signature on the cheque, I will say that it was there originally when your employee brought it in. You have no more case against us."

      RBI is sleeping and encouraging banks to sell third party products. See in Banks nowadays instead of Deposits and Advances Mutual Funds and Insurance are sold. After few days Banker will forget what is Deposit.

    As an ICICI customer I must say this is a true event . I went for a small FD of 2 Lac they tried to sell me a policy but gladly am an investor so knew exactly what it was . My follow up questions made them knew I know how Debt and Equity markets work .
    Got an FD done but the person sitting next to me invested 7 Lac rupees on assurance of higher return and tax cuts .
    God help this man

      Hi Jayesh, is health insurance policies genuine or they are also part of scam? I believe when it comes to claiming money, all of sudden hidden rules get applied regarding which insurance holder have no idea and zero money is recovered. This had happed with IT professional not any regular employee.

      @@MandeepKaur-fe3vl Honestly I believe the health insurance are only helpful for serious health conditions like cancer which has very high cost . Otherwise if you calculate for smaller bills it's better you put that installment as savings for a rainy day. Cause after your claim most likely your premium goes up which is counter productive and defeats the whole insurance purpose .

    Same happened to me. My mother went alone to open an FD and the bank employee got her an insurance policy. She was clueless. Next day when I came to know about it, I called that guy and threatened to first log complaint and then log an FIR. It worked, the policy was terminated and I got my money back. So we need to be aware, don't believe blindly.

    I had a similar experience with HDFC Life. I was cheated and fraudulently thrust with a policy with all false promises. When the same person again tried to sell 2nd time. I recorded and reported to HDFC. After 4-5 escalations and warning for legal action, they paid back the money - Rs 3.15 lacs. Their own staff was involved along with agents.

      I've the same issue with HDFC Life Medical Policy. The Policy was sold through the Bank and now I have to fight my case in Ombudsman. I don't know if Ombudsman has been bought over by HDFC Life because so confidently they are giving me the name to go and complain at the Ombudsman. Looks like the case will be ruled in their favor and we common men are left with nothing. Today also if you go to the HDFC Bank you have people selling all different products sitting in their premises but if there is an issue they point blank inform you get in touch with the respective company. I also question them why they are selling😮 the products in your Bank??? Richard Mendes

      Same, Told me only 1 premium needed and next is up to me if I want to continue investing but policy will be active regardless, it was complete lie and out of anger I paid nothing further for 5 years to come out of lock-in period and severed any relationship i had with HDFC life.

      My family lost life savings in a cooperative bank scam. I prefer not to irk my parents unnecessarily over it as it can affect their health. Money can be earned, but health is difficult to maintain. Going into depression is not the solution.

      the big they are the more fraud they do, even my father got stuck in a credit card interest which my father didn't know they didn't told him he was using it as a debit card, after some time we had to pay 1.5 L just interest, and this is a lot for us as our family income is less as we live in a tier 3 city, what we should do is read all the documents do not trust anyone.@@malayaranjansahoo6448

      thats the result of years of transacting digitally, not really knowing the service provider personally, resignation to one's fate that the law wont help, and of course the affluence. we have seen much more money in our accounts than our parents but it all came comparatively easily, and we didnt realize the value of money when we have it. when we lost it, its digital so maybe the loss isnt sinking in quickly enough. and then the victims just have some hope left of getting help from somewhere.

    Thanks to the family for coming forward with the details. Almost everybody has been cheated by the banks at one point or the other. Main issue is the “agency problem”. Agents enjoy commission but dont take any form of responsibility and dont face any consequences if customer suffers.

      They used to sell insurance policies in 2008. I purchased 1 ulip policy and after paying 3 years. The ulip was in loss for more than 3 years. I surrendered the policy after 6 years.

      Multiple insurance policies have been sold to this family under the garb of issuing (hybrid) fixed deposits without following the norms and regulations of the regulating authorities and now the amount deposited by this family in these multiple insurance policies is under danger of getting forfeited by the insurance company because this family is not in a position to continue premium payment in these policies. The insurance company was required to verify if or not the client can make regular premium payment in policy and because the insurance company did not performed it's task properly the family is getting punished and the insurance company is being benefitted although the entire fault is of the insurance company only

    My dad worked in KVG bank (Govt rural bank) for 35+ years and retired last year, they served people by informing proper rules and policies, also explained individually gov.t benefits and subsidiaries etc... In the retired speech they mentioned don't trust any PVT. bank people they tell only the advantages but not mention other side, It's our each and individual responsible to avoid any pvt. bank people, until it is necessary for us not to them

      Your father must be the honest employee of that bank. Many governemnt employees do their job with honesty but overall condition of government banks is also not good. They survive because government put money in these banks called as recapitalization of banks and private banks don't have that facility.
      There is a need to create strict laws for banking and finance instead of blaming private or government banks.

      I have just invested 50000/- in this very bank. ( icici Prudential) was told if u invest rs. 50 thousand per year in 5 years time u will get 5 lakhs when I got the policy in hand it is mentioned as that I need to pay for 7 years and only after 10th year would I get 5 lakh. I had invested this amount for my 2 daughters further education. I am in a dilemma after seeing this family. Can you please help me. I am a house wife. The amount of 50000/- is big for me. I have to save monthly rs 4000/- from the household expenses to make rs 50000/-

Guys, I would really advise you to not rely on agents and educate yourself with policies, finances etc. With youtube, blogs everything is much easier to learn and nowadays everything can be done online even the KYC. If you guys are clueless, Just do INDEX ETFs, GOLD ETFs or a INDEX mutual fund. That would be the best thing to do with your hard earned money. Once again I will say not to just blindly trust me. Research and learn about it. The charges are also minimal there.

    same thing happened to me in 2016 with SBI
    exactly same thing
    wrong signatures
    wrong email ID
    wrong mobile number
    wrong family background
    wrong profession
    wrong annual salary
    different agent (some lady name i never kno)
    i took 6 lakhs policy, no cashback was given by agent, he said hes bank employee and its directly from bank, but i saw agent n agent code in my policy documents
    thank god i reported it quickly, a month after i got policy hard copy and SBI investigated it and found the agent guilty for many frauds like this and fired him
    infact after that her sister (probably the lady agent) came to my house crying "please take your complaint back, my brother is getting fired by SBI
    i didnt even opened the door and asked her to leave
    after few months i heard from many sources that he has been terminated by SBI and his agent license has been cancelled by IRDA

    I had a similar experience with SBI bank in 2018. Thanks for bringing such things to limelight. When educated people can be fooled this way so easily, I can't imagine how much uneducated will be looted by these banks. More than the money, its the trust broken by these bank managers whom we so respect that hurts even more.

      Also once first installment deduction why they didn't close savings account immediately. Because nowadays they are making people afraid about tax deduction so people easy to invest in such as insurance policies or MF.

      Bro, in most of the private bank, they have target like casa, pl , bl , gold loan, kcc, insurance nd much more, their promotion depends upon the target, also some bank hiers employees through third party (loan department mostly) to avoid legal activities, sometimes they Even didn't pay salary when target is not fulfilled by the employees recruit through third party

      @@amitt319 You Know What My SBI Manager Did To Me In 2013, I Had 3 Lakhs In My Account He Forced Me To Put 1 Lakh Per Annum SBI Life Insurance, He & The Insurance Agent Were In A Hurry To Get The Commission They Both Did Not Gave Me To Consult With My Wife & Mom That Too On Saturday 1 Pm After Banking Hours Now I Got A Stroke In 2017 They You Have Paid 1 Lakh Only One Premium Atleast You Should Have Paid 5 Premiums, Now I Am Struck!

    1. While you have discussed with the family about what had happened to them, I request you to highlight on what precautions should one take to avoid such cases in the first place.
    2. You may inform people to keep track on the account statements on regular basis.
    3. There is provision to stop any uncalled amount withdrawal happening without the peoples concurrence.

    I have encountered the same case with my known one. AXIS Bank has issued 1 Lac premium year (10-year installment)for life insurance of MAX LIFE INSURANCE in the name of FD. On his behalf I loged a complaint with IRDA and emailed for loging FIR in the name of CEO of both banks & and insurance, in case of not reply, and they have to refund money.

    Sorry to hear about the unfortunate situation. Suggest three things: 1. that you should declare all the ICICI parties' Full Names, Phones, Email IDs, and branch locations where this happened. The idea is not to shame them (as they may be doing their job as directed) but if these names are the same for others then you are helping to build a strong case against ICICI and others. 2. Bring this to the attention of the Finance Ministry of India. 3. Engage a reputed High Court Attorney on a contingent basis and let ICICI pay you the entire loss, a big share for all your sufferings, and a huge penalty. Then give an update here so others can follow suit and that will teach ICICI a lesson and other bankers to be prudent about their offerings and not play with people's livelihood.

      When I took loan the SBI also asked me to mandatorily avail the Insurance policy@10000p.a. some of my friends was even asked to avail the Life Insurance@1Lakh p.a.

    Fully agree. I was also conned by the ICICI Life agent . He was introduced to me by the branch manager. But when I had some queries about the policy , the same branch manager washed his hands off. Ditto is the case with ICICI wealth managment. All of them out to swindle you.

    My Sister joined as a banking professional in ABC bank( not disclosing actual name ) . She was unable to face the pressure being exterted by the marketing heads to reach indidvidual targets of bank account openings and selling insurance policies. she got fed up of try selling something that isn't the interest or requirement of the customer and finally resinged it. It is one of the worst job experiences as per her. Feel sorry for the loss of the family. Hope they recover their amount . I would suggest to understand the product completely before investing hard earned money. Even if there is a small dout and confusion just leave it.

Our Education system never teaches us these things which are actually applicable in real life to EVERYONE. Always know where your money is going.       You nailed it with very appropriate comments. They should come out and explain why so many policies were issued without following the rules and norms prescribed by IRDAI. Why no Pre Issuance Verification call process was adhered to? Why Icici Prudential did not called for ITR/income proof related documents of the customer to verify if he or she would be able to continue premium payment for all these policies or not.

      I had filed a PIL in Hon'ble Rajsthan High Court and later also escalated to Hon'ble Supreme Court. I had highlighted more than 100 such cases of fraud done by Icici Prudential to poor farmers, widows, senior citizens and students etc. But they wanted that only victims must come forward and therefore the PIL got dismissed.
      This particular case is currently filed in Permanent Lok Adalat, Mumbai. We are awaiting a decision and will keep our audience informed as and when we receive any update. Regards

    Those who think of availing housing loan in HDFC BANK Anna nagar, Chennai pl note ..
    When housing loan is sanctioned.... WITHOUT INFORMING THE CUSTOMER.. another 3 loans 1.Insurance for self 2. Insurance for critical illness and another 3.Loan for these two insurance are sanctioned by bank with interest as per the bank choice.They are NOT informing the customer. I am one of the affected person.When I challenged , after 3 months the HDFC bank closed the personal insurance , property insurance and loan for the insurance . HDFC home loans .. be cautious..
    INSURANCE is not compulsory for availing home loans..

    As a Relationship manager with ___ bank I can confirm that we are told to LIE to customers to put their money into best commission generating products for bank. We are given bonus to reach target. Bank does not care if product is not suited for customer's risk tolerance & invstmnt objective. We are told to just get customers signature on forms by hook or crook

    Being a banker i understand a bit about the policies. all of these policies lock our money for a period of time. people need only 2 products in their life time 1. health insurance 2. term insurance . & for investment mutual funds / SIP is there even not FD. good to see your initiative.     I am a victim of a similar scam from Yes Bank. They told me it's a product, but they sold me a policy. I feel we should investigate a lot more before investing rather than trusting these RMs. I've stopped listening to these guys now, and others should do the same.

    Absolutely Right. Same fraud happened with by friends sister. She was sold Life Ins without mentioning the same. But he recorded the employee saying she sold Life INS instead of FD. and employee had to refund everything to my friend and canceled the policy within a month.
    Be Cautious dealing with ICICI

      Citibank is also running this scam. Citibank runs RBI pat down investment scam. Where they get in touch with clients in the name of RBI followed by selling ULIPs same like here shown in video. (Citibank runs RBI thak thak Citibank nivesh ghotala)

    Dear all, People should be in a position to understand the difference between investment and insurance. Please don't invest for returns in insurance. But only for safety.
