      Its strange that the only wild animal species that are naturally friendly to humans are from the ocean. Sure you might find an occasional friendly squirrel or something, but those are exceptions. Even something like a seal on land, certainly not friendly, but underwater another story

    This is how humans should enjoy orcas! Humans are on the orcas’ playground. These amazing, intelligent beings should never be captured and forced to spend their lives in a bathtub so sea world and the like can make millions while they kill the orca slowly and cruelly by taking away their will to live. Humans should be humbled and treat this rare opportunity to interact with these magnificent creatures in their natural environment as the blessing it truly is...

    Such a great interaction with these friends. They were enjoying this interaction with you, as much as you were. The repeated tail slaps, and them continuing to follow you was them playing with you. You are super fortunate to have experienced this! I live in Puget Sound (Seattle, WA. USA), and we have ‘our own’ resident pod. They are cherished by the community, and when a newborn in the pod struggles, its a crazy big deal to us as locals… Sharing our water with them is a gift. Don’t EVER discount that view.

    When they flip over that, it means they're in play mode and having just as much fun as the humans. It's weird, but when not in play mode, there's a few videos of them bringing leftovers of what they just hunted and eaten, and they just take off again. Like they think you're in a crisis in the middle of the ocean, and feel sorry for you. So they bring you grub.

      @@kimberlyh.1090 Luna the orca was wild, but acclimated to humans. Absolutely agree. On the other hand their are millions of people who would never see an Orca in person (and other incredible, wild animals) without SeaWorld and Zoo's. How would you feel about an international Mandate that these places could only keep the animals captive, say, 2 years before having to return to the wild and recapture another. I know that's a little cost ineffective but if I'm not mistaken these places make huge amounts of money. Also I have no idea how long it takes to train.

    • @CleverClover2023
      @CleverClover2023 5 лет назад +2

      @@jimkeller3921 The idea that the only way for people to see a killer whale is in captivity is false and delusional. There are plenty of whale watching companies that see wild killer whales on a regular bases, there are documentaries and videos clips online. The idea that you have to see an animal in person to care about them is bs - to put it lightly. Nor is there any evidence that seeing a captive whale or dolphin encourages compassion...it actually does the opposite.
      Do you know how violent and stressful wild captures are for these animals? Do you understand the amount of stress and frustration it causes the animal to be...
      1) ripped away from their home and family (many animals die during captures)
      2) placed in a small pen and starved until they accept dead fish (which can take weeks and sometimes they simply refuse and starve to death)
      3) being trained to do humiliating tricks
      4) contracting diseases and illnesses from humans
      Captivity isnt a 2yr 'job' and then they are released. Once they are in a captive facility it is almost impossible to get them out. The captivity industry doesnt like to to let the animals go, they fight it very very hard.
      I highly suggest you actually learn about this horrible industry. Watch clips of the dolphin captures in Taiji and the russian orca captures. Talk to people who know killer whale behavior and culture.

    It is known that the area of our brains that deals with emotion is also present in orca's brains. In fact, this area is larger and more complex in orca brains. I wonder if the orca are actually capable of comprehending the emotions of the people in the video, the laughter, the excitement, and they respond in kind.
