    Enjoyed watching you paint at a "normal" speed. You really get to see how to use the brush and paint. You really don't learn anything from the sped-up versions. Delightful to listen to as well.

    I know you quickly pick this up by doing, but it's good to hear again that only few washes on top of each other are key in watercolor! Overdoing it can look forced, and yeah, the colors get muddy. Great reminder! Thanks, Lioba!

    I love how you explained how to do it :'(
    A lot of artists I'm subscribed to don't really do that and sometimes I get really confused when I try their technique. I stopped painting with watercolors a year ago because I just couldn't get the same results. But now that I've seen your videos, I'm more optimistic about how I'm going to go through with my next pieces. Thank you so much :) You just earned yourself a subscriber.

    I’ve been drawing for 19 years and have hardly touched watercolor, I’ve been getting the itch to make Art Nouveau really bad lately! This video was really informative for supplies and the process, in the future I’d love to link how my attempt at it goes :) thanks again for this video!

    I feel like people struggle with watercolor so much because of how essential the intitial drawing is. You nailed this composition but i feel like if i tried this it would be a disaster. I really need to put more time into my sketchbook and put the watercolors away for abit. Great video and thanks for the insight about layering. Helpful for us still stuck on the cheap Canson XL papers where thick application isn't exactly ideal. Strangely, it's very hard to find specific info about using few layers, dry brush, and wet on dry. Once again, great video.

    I’m happy I came across this video. I’ve always seen that style replicated by artists but I never really thought about it originating from anywhere and now I know who started it all and that’s really cool to know. Also, I would see that term but I didn’t know that is what it was called/referring to. Thanks!

    Love your work! I struggle when adding pencil crayon to watercolour paper to get it to blend. It looks grainy! How to do you get the pencil crayons to not look grainy on the paper? Thnx!

    • @JB-ew1mu
      @JB-ew1mu 3 года назад +1

      Its hard to see in video but there is a light grain, if you work from very light pressure and small circles to keep an even application, as you slowly build up the layers where you want it darker it will transition into a smooth blended look

    53 seconds in and I had to pause this to call you out. Everything you just said about art nouveau is wrong, except the Mucha was Czech. I’m not one of those ppl who leave a 500 page manifesto in comments arguing, so I just suggest you check out a few other artist. Be inspired. Henri Privat-Livemont. Ppl often attribute his poster work to Mucha. Heywood Summer. Aubrey Beardsley. Charles Renee Macintosh. Henri Toulouse-Lautrec. The Macdonalds sisters. Henry van de Valde.
