Doctor must of had Herbert in his fantasy
Hell yeah!

or he was facing someone who had tyrod
Or he had the chiefs defense...didnt work out but still

Don't let Tyrod Taylor's punctured lung distract you from the fact that the Bengals don't have an indoor practice facility

I had a feeling Herbert was gonna start eventually this year, but not in this way. Feel bad for Taylor but Herbert is definitely the future of this franchise
You mean to tell me you didn’t see the team doctor accidentally puncturing Tyrod Taylor’s lung while trying to administer a pain killing injection for his cracked ribs? That’s crazy.

The doctor really decided to play head coach for a few minutes and took out tyrod 😂
someone had to do it
He accidentally left Herbert in his starting line up on fantasy and it was too close to kick off to edit the line up sooooo
The tweet is worded as if the doctor was supposed to puncture THE OPPOSING QBs LUNG.
Wait they rnt supposed to?
definitely a mistake. the painkiller is meant for the soft tissue around the ribs, not the friggin lungs lol

Medical professional here. I have assisted in these procedures many times and there is always a chance this can happen. Sometimes it's from just being a little careless with the needle. Sometimes it could be the patient jerks and moves towards the needle. It's very easy to puncture the lung. Don't know what the situation is here. But that's been my experience in the past.
RUclips professional here.
Yeah dude that's what this video said.
Comment professional here.
Yeah that's what they said.
Boys boys settle down a little... "medical professional" was just clarifying, albeit extremely redundant...don't want to stress the professional out for they too may end up puncturing someone's lung and this conversation starts all over again

As a medical profession hearing you say "shoutout to the lung for un-puncturing itself." I CRIED laughing bc technically you're not wrong. That's exactly what happens. If they taught material like this I would have flew through schooling lmaooo
Same for me. I'm a med student and his comment made me a smile.
How does that even happen
@@xgu4642 Depends on how far they went and which layers had to close up but likely the needle went too far and crossed into the pleural space. If it actually punctured the lung as well then either hole could cause the lung to deflate. The negative pressure in the pleural space keeps the lung inflated. Essentially between the lung and the ribs there's a negative pressure space that causes a suction and that suction keeps the lung stuck to the outer wall. When you puncture that space air from outside gets sucked in and the negative pressure goes away, this causes the lung to stop being stuck to the ribs. The lung collapses. So the punctured hole will eventually seal up (just like any cut in your body) and after that's happened the negative pressure will slowly return as the air in the space leaves. The lung will then re-inflate.
@@xgu4642 The lungs, the pleural cavity surrounding it, and the thoracic cavity surrounding that all have their own pressure systems. A puncture, especially a small one caused by a syringe from an injection is self-corrected by the positive pressure from the lungs pushing tissue in the lungs to seal the opening to the pleural cavity which is a vacuum with negative pressure. The wound will then heal itself over time.
HTram interesting
Everyone else: How do you puncture a lung injecting a painkiller?!?
Me: The chargers were planning on playing Tyrod with cracked ribs?!?

@Steve coming from you that definitely doesn't mean much
Steve you really gonna forget that Tyrod almost started 2-0 with the BROWNS against Pittsburgh and the Saints. Only if they had a kicker
Tyrod isn’t a bad qb he does the same thing as Brady did when he first came in and no team gives him chance he throws checkdowns instead of airing it out because if he has a bad game he’s always given the impression he’ll get benched remember he lead the bills to the playoffs and they benched him for the pic machine that was in Oakland last year forgot his name
Respect for trying to get more info rather than breaking this news. You guys are dope.

As a MD, these injections are intercostal nerve blocks. They numb the nerves under the ribs, close to the lung. Don’t be harsh on the doctor. Yes, the risk of puncturing the lung is low, but if you do enough of them, the chances are that you will cause a pneumothorax (punctured lung) eventually. It usually resolves spontaneously.
2020 in one headline
Tyrod never gets a break man 🤦♂️
he got a break... in his ribs

Reminds me of Brady starting when Bledsoe got hurt
Hopefully but Herbert is far from a complete qb. Thank god he has some great receivers to clean up for him. Wish him all the success in the world though he's a fun player to watch
@@spa2damax i agree hes looking like the most impressive rookie qb so far
@@frandavis1990 he had one game against a mediocre defense that prepared for a completely different QB. Relax lol
Nothing really like that. Bledsoe was playing already and Mo Lewis lit Bledsoe up while he was running for a 1st down. I was 11 watching that game. I was like who tf is this Tom Brady then by 2003 I was like yea he is legit. I still remember he went 10-0 his first ten games in the playoffs. We also had an all time great defense lol
I smell a malpractice grievance on the horizon. NFLPA should just start filling out the paperwork now.
No lmao
To the point of how specific of a skill I.V. And needlework is, hospitals used to have nurses on staff that did nothing but administer I.V.’s. My grandma was one and she was SUPER serious about it

A broken rib hurts incredibly bad.
Ask tyron Woolley
I feel like a broken anything doesn't ever have a pleasant feeling to it
Wow breaking news over here lol
I had the same procedure done on purpose when i was 23 for a lung infection . Was fin scary !!!! Hope he is ok though .
athletic trainer here: having assisted and witnessed countless injections in a orthopedic clinic. -I would only hope that this was an ultrasound guided injection. -most ortho docs do injections daily, but drawing blood, getting an IV is a different ballgame where nurses, etc do most of that. depending on how tender the area is some people don't stay still or flinch which I see as a factor here, the slightest movement by Taylor could've caused this. Not choosing sides here, just bringing to light what people are not considering.
Doctor: Yo tyrod you put 9 points up this week in fantasy
Tyrod: still got the W
Doctor : ...I didn’t...
The Chargers doctor David Chao had to leave his practice because of the massive amounts of malpractice lawsuits he faced. He was called a "quack" by the California Medical Review Board.
Hearsay and anyways he's not involved with the Chargers now. He's in San Diego.
Lirst Fast hearsay really?
Tends to give pretty accurate diagnoses from video on orthopedic injuries on Twitter.
The doctors name is Nick Riviera, David Chap left the organization back when they were still in San Diego get ur facts straight before u start talking about things like this
Poor Tyrod can't get a break. That doctor should be fired right away. Reminds me of the Washington football teams problems with their medical staff!Wonder if they hired one of their ex doctors?
I remember a nurse was trying to draw blood from me. She hit a nerve and that was the most pain I've felt. My arm went numb immediately and the pain was unbearable. I have Crohn's disease so my pain tolerance is high, so that tells you had bad the pain was.
Intercostal nerve block. it is uncommon for it to lead to a punctured lung, but the lung is very, very close to the location of the block. It is very very easy for it to be punctured, despite how uncommon it is. Also depends on whether it was done with ultrasound or not as that would improve the safety of the procedure itself
Pat Mcafee knows from experience when Troy Polamalu lined up in the C Gap
Breaking new: Herbert was the doctor
Lol
and the hair is fake
The only other time I've ever heard the word "unpunctured" was in the ballad of Buster Scruggs on Netflix lol
Pat comin with so much drip today😂
Taylor is a good guy. Too bad this had to happen to him.
I've had to get that done playing hockey in high school before it's not fun and I'm not surprised the lungs got punctured I've seen a friend of mine get his punctured on accident getting a numbing shot
Herbert has multiple good traits!!! good size/length/arm length/hand size/arm strength/decent running ability for a QB in the NFL,
HERBERT improved on his accuracy big time
"this sounds terrible" 🏈😭
"AIR-IBLE

In San Diego, team doctor. Number one 👍🙂👍
I hope the doctor keeps his job this will be a lesson that will go down in his books alright
He’s definitely fired
While he might not be#1, Tyrod Taylor is among the most unlucky moderately talented NFL players it there
Pat Mac talk the truth
At a time with all the concussion protocol stuff, I'm amazed that pain deadening anything is allowed...
A kicker bagging a doctor for a 1% failure rate while their success rate is in the 90's... lol
THEY WANTED TO START TYROD EVEN THOUGH HE HAD CRACKED ASS RIBS... WTF
QBs play with cracked ribs all the time.
Taylor WANTED to play obviously.
I've had this done. They use ultrasound to see the needle. They said the needle is 3mm away from the lung. It hurts
That really really sucks for Taylor, I feel for him. But as a Bears fan who had written off the chargers for awhile, man I man does Herbert look good. Really good. Might have to catch a few more games of his
if he had cracked ribs before the game he had no business going out on the field in the first place.
Division game. Experienced veteran. Rookie at 2nd string. Thats why they were going to start him.
True but in NFL, player playing with injury is pretty common so
@@mingywantwingy1379 not one of those reasons is good when a player has cracked ribs
@@WirelessJoeJackson regardless, thats the way it is in the NFL.
Nfl gonna have to settle on this one
Realest Reviews probably not, he agreed to have it and if they warned him it was a possibility then no
I love his nickname for Herbert
Similar thing happened to Troy Polamalu for his last USC game in the Orange Bowl against Iowa, the doctor's shot him up with pain killers and hit his nerve, didn't get to play in his last game.
Ah yes chargers medical system #1. It's not like they are the most affected by injuries over the past 4 years.
Sounds like Doctor Hartman from Family Guy
I had my ACL reconstruction done by a former NFL doctor.... now that knee and leg is stronger than my leg thats never been hurt..
Jerome bettis had something similar before a huge playoff game. The doc was giving a shot into his hip and leg and hit a nerve that made bettis leg lame for the day.
The first 6 minutes of this video is McAfee on a verbal tear through a news story that should take about 18 seconds to recap.
This is something you would have expected to happens to the browns or jets
Sometimes, people have arms that are difficult to draw blood from etc.
I am one of those people. Had a woman jam a needle in my arm a lot. At least 7. And had nurses try my left arm, right arm, right HAND, then left hand for a test. And that has happened a couple of times. I seriously congratulate medical professionals who get it first or even second time
Same thing happened to Tyrod in Cleveland, got injured and Baker took over. He gets hurt, almost murdered Herbert takes over.
Tyrod has to be the most unlucky QB in the NFL.

Smoking a joint is not going to help cracked ribs bruh
Christopher J. Murray Jr you got a long stupid name
Hey, worked for Percy Harvin.
Horrible situation hope he makes it back to play one day.
It’s an intercostal block. Hopefully it was ultrasound guided but still the result is a pneumothorax. It’s a dangerous injection because of a high risk for intravascular injection that can lead to death if not caught quick enough.
He aint gonna be a doctor no more 😂
Kellz K not in the nfl, he shouldn’t be puncturing lungs anymore
If this is his first pneumothorax out of 1000, then he's the best you'd ever get. Gotta get some perspective
