I remember playing this game as a kid and thinking "I wanna be in the military!" Now that I am I have several questions but here is just one....what is Sam fisher's workout regimen!? This man stays crouched for hours, knocks out/kills the enemy constantly, lifts their bodies with no resistance or exhaust, traverses pipes, climbs buildings, runs, stays silent on his feet, and maintains low breathing over the age of 40, WITH EQUIPMENT ON! I gotta get like that. Not army strong, splinter cell strong.
I had this game on the PS2 but it broke 😭😭😭 now i have it in the Xbox Series S and it runs so good at a native 1440p60 and its the Original Xbox version.

yeah i never got far as a kid with either of the trilogy but give it a go now for sure if you can, i bought the PS3 trilogy some years ago and smashed it, was so so much fun.

I grew up on these Splinter Cell games and have been playing them annually for years. I don't enjoy SAR as much anymore and don't really have the patience to play through, so these types of walkthroughs are a nice way to catch up on the nostalgia without reloading checkpoints a dozen times.

I always find this game more relaxed than its sequels. There's a lot cold vibe going on in those concretes. Truly this is a Stealth Action Redefined game.

I love the lighting effects. They look so good! You actually want to show down and explore the environment just to appreciate how beautiful the lighting is. It's a shame that the later games make you rush through levels. I liked the idea that Sam was not invincible or unstoppable. He was a 47 year old man that used stealth and avoidance to get his job done. The later games just didn't have the same tension or look.
I never forget how my dad forced me to play the game to foster my patience and instill his love for stealth games in my gamer head. This game was the introduction of stealth games for me. XD
I remember when I was young and watching my brother play this, I remember being bored lol and asking why he's going so slow. Now I appreciate this game and the stealth.
I’m so excited about the announced remake of this first game. They definitely refined most of the mechanics in the following 2 installments, but this original is still a classic and very unique

This is one of the first games I ever played then halo was later on. Splinter cell chaos theory was actually the one I played. I remember there was this one mission where u were in a lake or something at night and me and my little brother could never pass that mission. There this other game called swat too I think we played.
I just love the first level. It's so definitive of the whole series. Reminds me of Bafford's Manor on Thief: The Dark Project. I could play it over and over.
@Bwa Bwa Yoshi Yes, and yes. I had the unfortunate experience of playing the broken PC port. At the time I wasn't aware of the pitiful state it was released in with the broken shadows, so I was constantly getting spotted in total darkness while nearly losing my mind in a fit of rage every time it happened. It was not a fun experience. The game is better with the fixes, but still outdated with the gameplay.
Great run - I’ve beaten the game many times, but always struggle on the abattoir mission. Can’t believe you just ran straight through the mine field without putting on your thermals! 😂Good effort! I used wall mines on the last bit and kept the machine guns on - worked a treat.
My sister got me into this game. When she first bought the original Xbox. This game with it. She ended up beating the game and then after that she let me play it. I would always ask her what I should do whenever I got stuck. Good times!

I thought the xbox version of DA was very good as well. It managed to keep the core gameplay while feeling different and delivering the most emotionally charged story in the series.

Everyone talks about the gameplay and graphics and what have you. But what I feel really makes Splinter Cell, and Tom Clancy games in general, is the presentation. Take the cutscenes with the news for example, they help show what else is going on on in the world while also commenting on events you bring to light. And said events feel like they could actually happen. The weaponized algorithm seen here, the ultranationalist coup in Ghost Recon, the environmentalist plot to release Ebola in Rainbow Six. Just the right amount of gravity to the situation. All the way up till Future Soldier where they would recycle the Ultranationalist coup. Now it’s all been watered down and Sam here got the worst of it. Being brought out of retirement to make us clap.
Man I remmeber when I came to canada back in 2006. I as just 14yrsold and I played thegame and felt in love with it! IM 30 AND sometimes I let me ps5 grab some dust. THIS GAME just brings back too many memories. Waking up at 4am and olaying till mid night lol. Those days as a kid.
I miss this version of Splinter Cell. The stealth, the gadgets, the team behind Sam... so much better than the Bourne Identity version of Splinter Cell. This, Pandora Tomorrow, and Chaos Theory were the best.
I remember playing this in 2002 on my Dell tower pc. I didn't have a decent graphics card but it was just about able to work for this game. I enjoyed those peaceful hours playing this when I was a student.
Lol you can knockout enemies with normal sticky cameras and grenades throwing them to the head, and in the mission abattoir when you must protect the hostages you can activate the turrets and disable the IFF from them and they will kill the incoming mercenaries. The funniest part of the game.
I loved this game. I wish they still made it for the newer platforms. Also, I love how when the breaks into the CIA and they're talking about how secure the building is but yet there's no lights in the hallway and Sam can literally hide along the wall while a guard just strolls on by.
I love how @2:23:20 Sam is able to drop onto a 50 gallon metal drum and then push two 50 gallon metal drums within inches of the guard and he still gets past him. Sam Fisher is the greatest.
There are actually only 8 mandatory KOs and 1 kill you have to make in the entire game: The colonel in Defense Ministry The technician in Oil Refinery Dougherty and the final guard in CIA HQ 3 mercenaries, 2 officers and Grinko in the final fight in Abattoir And Nikoladze as the only mandatory kill in Presidential Palace. All others can be dodged one way or the other.
@@marcohidalgo1101 It hasn't. You literally don't need to kill anyone in the entire level. Not even knock out, actually. I suppose the level encourages you to kill since it's the first one in which you can actually use the SC-20K to shoot enemies. There are even some forced actions sequences but those can be skipped more or less.
@@marcohidalgo1101 You can basically just run through. The enemies are always aware of your position in that area so you WILL take damage, though. I've had most success by climbing up the window opposite of the doorway through which you enter the area, and then stunning the guard with Ring Airfoil as he runs in.
Believe it or not, the ambient noise from offices and PCs etc in thus game is where my love for ambience started. I used to get this feeling that I couldn't explain listening to that noise on those missions.
You know you played it too much when you can quote the character dialogue perfectly word by word lol. I remember getting it the Christmas I turned 11; loved it so much. Never did complete the Georgia mission, was incredibly difficult compared to the rest of the game.
These missions were so advanced in my youth I never actually beat like the third or so mission. Now looking back at it, with tons of video game knowledge it would probably be a walk in the park. Ah the Nostalgia.
Yah i remember my dad got this game when i was around 10 years old, got stuck for some time on second mission going tru balcony, as always got seen by npc, than i got stuck hard with chinese guy you had to follow and use thermal vision for fingerprint code door, because of this one spot i stopped playing for like 1 or 2 years, and finally beat it later on, but yah nowadays you have RUclips, online guide's etc.. back than my family did not had any internet, so on every game i got stuck had to figure myself how to do it, and even if it was at times frustrating, but that good feeling i always had when figuring out puzzle or something you been stuck to was amazing.
I played this game when it first came out on PS2; several times in fact. I loved it, it was one of my favorite series. Tried playing again recently and I truly believe modern games have ruined me.
the graphics and gameplay in modern games are better, but the games themselves don't feel authentic like the old games. Maybe it's just part of growing up, but modern games don't have that same feeling as a kid.
One thing that should probably be noted; proxy/tripmines- sneak up crouched- STAND before trying to disarm them. Also can't say why exactly, but the mines can still explode. I believe the light sequence when trying to disarm has something to do with it, also the mines can seemingly go full-detect which makes them explode as well.

I swear this game nailed the stealth genere...and I'd like to say that the music score was amazing..i mean the music highlighted every moment of the game especially playing with headphones
For real! I love all the tracks in this game but I think the one that nails it for me is when your lurking in the streets in Vietnam (I think).
This is a masterpiece. Splinter Cell 1-3 are the best.
I thought the xbox version of DA was very good as well. It managed to keep the core gameplay while feeling different and delivering the most emotionally charged story in the series.

Everyone talks about the gameplay and graphics and what have you. But what I feel really makes Splinter Cell, and Tom Clancy games in general, is the presentation. Take the cutscenes with the news for example, they help show what else is going on on in the world while also commenting on events you bring to light. And said events feel like they could actually happen.
The weaponized algorithm seen here, the ultranationalist coup in Ghost Recon, the environmentalist plot to release Ebola in Rainbow Six. Just the right amount of gravity to the situation. All the way up till Future Soldier where they would recycle the Ultranationalist coup.
Now it’s all been watered down and Sam here got the worst of it. Being brought out of retirement to make us clap.
Man I remmeber when I came to canada back in 2006. I as just 14yrsold and I played thegame and felt in love with it! IM 30 AND sometimes I let me ps5 grab some dust. THIS GAME just brings back too many memories. Waking up at 4am and olaying till mid night lol. Those days as a kid.

I miss this version of Splinter Cell. The stealth, the gadgets, the team behind Sam... so much better than the Bourne Identity version of Splinter Cell. This, Pandora Tomorrow, and Chaos Theory were the best.
I remember playing this in 2002 on my Dell tower pc. I didn't have a decent graphics card but it was just about able to work for this game. I enjoyed those peaceful hours playing this when I was a student.
Lol you can knockout enemies with normal sticky cameras and grenades throwing them to the head, and in the mission abattoir when you must protect the hostages you can activate the turrets and disable the IFF from them and they will kill the incoming mercenaries. The funniest part of the game.
Doesn't work 100% of the time. One of the officers usually throws a grenade at the American soldiers from outside the turret's range

I loved this game. I wish they still made it for the newer platforms. Also, I love how when the breaks into the CIA and they're talking about how secure the building is but yet there's no lights in the hallway and Sam can literally hide along the wall while a guard just strolls on by.

I love how the HUD in this game looks like something you'd see on a Pom Pilot - which was the cutting-edge tech at the time.

I love how @2:23:20 Sam is able to drop onto a 50 gallon metal drum and then push two 50 gallon metal drums within inches of the guard and he still gets past him. Sam Fisher is the greatest.
There are actually only 8 mandatory KOs and 1 kill you have to make in the entire game:
The colonel in Defense Ministry
The technician in Oil Refinery
Dougherty and the final guard in CIA HQ
3 mercenaries, 2 officers and Grinko in the final fight in Abattoir
And Nikoladze as the only mandatory kill in Presidential Palace. All others can be dodged one way or the other.

@@marcohidalgo1101 It hasn't. You literally don't need to kill anyone in the entire level. Not even knock out, actually.
I suppose the level encourages you to kill since it's the first one in which you can actually use the SC-20K to shoot enemies. There are even some forced actions sequences but those can be skipped more or less.
@@villekuismin277 Oh. I knew the 1st action sequence you could skip but I didn't know you could skip the 2nd one.
@@marcohidalgo1101 You can basically just run through. The enemies are always aware of your position in that area so you WILL take damage, though.
I've had most success by climbing up the window opposite of the doorway through which you enter the area, and then stunning the guard with Ring Airfoil as he runs in.
Believe it or not, the ambient noise from offices and PCs etc in thus game is where my love for ambience started. I used to get this feeling that I couldn't explain listening to that noise on those missions.
You know you played it too much when you can quote the character dialogue perfectly word by word lol. I remember getting it the Christmas I turned 11; loved it so much. Never did complete the Georgia mission, was incredibly difficult compared to the rest of the game.
These missions were so advanced in my youth I never actually beat like the third or so mission. Now looking back at it, with tons of video game knowledge it would probably be a walk in the park. Ah the Nostalgia.
Yah i remember my dad got this game when i was around 10 years old, got stuck for some time on second mission going tru balcony, as always got seen by npc, than i got stuck hard with chinese guy you had to follow and use thermal vision for fingerprint code door, because of this one spot i stopped playing for like 1 or 2 years, and finally beat it later on, but yah nowadays you have RUclips, online guide's etc.. back than my family did not had any internet, so on every game i got stuck had to figure myself how to do it, and even if it was at times frustrating, but that good feeling i always had when figuring out puzzle or something you been stuck to was amazing.
I played this game when it first came out on PS2; several times in fact. I loved it, it was one of my favorite series. Tried playing again recently and I truly believe modern games have ruined me.
How so? The gameplay?
the graphics and gameplay in modern games are better, but the games themselves don't feel authentic like the old games. Maybe it's just part of growing up, but modern games don't have that same feeling as a kid.
One thing that should probably be noted; proxy/tripmines- sneak up crouched- STAND before trying to disarm them. Also can't say why exactly, but the mines can still explode. I believe the light sequence when trying to disarm has something to do with it, also the mines can seemingly go full-detect which makes them explode as well.
