The reason I watch your vlogs Ryan is because it's like I'm watching myself. We are so much alike in mind and spirit. I have always travelled off the beaten track because that is where I have found the real people, real life and culture. I like you, am not interested in city life and concrete jungles. I know when planted 760 rubber trees in April 40+ degrees , I could only stand in the shadow with cold water. The guy dug the holes in the full sun. Amazing tough people. 🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭🙏♥️♥️
I had (Thai) family who were working building roads. Hard work
I live in esan i see this every day I call it slavery they get paid between 300 and 500 baths for a full day for Burmese workers around 200 baths a day it’s called cheap labor why would the government invest invest in up to date machinery sad but so true

We have watched in awe over the past few years these incredible men and women building many many kilometres of new world class roads around Chumphon. Just amazing 😍 yes we should all be very grateful for what we have.

I’ve seen this fantastic improvement in the Thai infrastructure over the last 20 years,
Including the new high speed overhead rail link from Bangkok to Hua Hin,
Complete new sky train systems, roads, cycle lanes etc
I’d love to know where all the investment comes from
It puts our miserable set up to shame here in the UK.
For minimum wage age, no skill, 350THB or around 10EURO. For food price, 1.20EURO per meal.

Roadworks were very common when I was in Thailand last year.. It was everywhere, from Buriram to Bangkok to Phuket... almost as bad as in UK... But it is good as well, means they are improving their roads.
As a boomer who has been hoping to see the world move away from personal ICE transport, I am hoping that center median in the road construction is for the high speed electric trains. Thailand has been planning and building with the help of the Chinese from what I have read. Yes people, interactions, and real life stories in the now are much more interesting than planned out travel vlogs and such. Keep on Truckin Ryan. Peace and Love

Hop over the border into Myanmar, in some areas, more remote locations, the methods are much more primitive. Hammering big stones into road crush... using pales to boil tar and pour over the hand built roads.. what i noticed in Myanmar many children working alongside adults 😢
Most of the construction workers in Thailand are from Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia.

Judging from your videos it seems that your left leg is quite a lot shorter than the right. I will recommend that you buy some cheap cork heal inlay soles. Use under shortest leg only! Regards
My father was instrumental in getting me a job at Corn Products (CPC, Int'l ) in Summit, Illinois. He was in charge of 6 buildings and told the foremen that just because I was his son they were not to go easy on me. Among the various jobs I had, one was me standing at the end of a conveyor belt upon which 100lb bags of corn starch plopped and I would arrange them 25 per pallet for the forklift to take away (kind of like "I Love Lucy" but it wasn't candy, it was 100 lb bags of corn starch.) I would do this for 8 hours (except for 15-minute morning and afternoon breaks and a 30-minute lunch) tossing about 800,000 lbs, per shift, sometimes double that in back to back overtime shifts. This was in the middle of summer, indoors, and no air-conditioning, it was very hot. To this day I thank that job for the veiny muscular arms that I have now. I had four or five other jobs at Corn Products (aka CPC, Int'l) which, believe it or not, were even more grueling than the bag throwing job but the point is that you don't have to go to Thailand to have a tough hard-working, fairly low-paying job even here in the United States.

OHHHHHHHHH MY, I can remember when I was young I would work out in the sun all day and think nothing of it. I retired 30 years ago and I don't have to work in the sun if I don't want to. I have to wonder if these people get paid extra for working in the sun versus a job inside where it's cool? That would be interesting to know.
Growing up my grandpa was a coast to coast truck driver (in the states) and I’d always go with him which was amazing. Maybe that’s why I love traveling still today. America is great to travel in just because of all the different landscapes there and all the different cultures. Have a great day.
In Las Vegas when its over 100 degrees the road construction is done at night with many super bright lights. They need lights 365 a year 😊
You speak Thai. Ask them how much they earn, ask them if they get state benefits, ask them what kind of contracts they have. It's not about gratitude. It's about working out whether they are being exploited or not. Your experience in Thailand obviously leads you to believe that they are being exploited. If that is the case, which it may not be, it's not about gratitude, it's about getting unionized.

Good on you for seeing the hard work that carpenters do, Doctors wouldn’t have hospital if not for carpenter, Politicians wouldn’t have Parliament House without carpenters, people would be sleeping in a field if not for carpenter…. I admire your point of veiw Ryan You are a good man !

I always say the exact same things about cities of bigger Amphurs. They don't really have anything unique about the city itself. Same sort of general layout, same roads, same buildings, same shops etc etc. Keep it up
Yes! You are spot on from what your documentary on Thai roadworkers can teach me is GRATITUDE that I have never had to work in circumstances like that especially under a hot sun where the temperature hovers around 40C;and working life for the majority is I imagine not too dis

After living a very minimalistic live for 15 year here in Bangkok i finally bought a car so i am still looking your vlogs for places to go next year i will move to Surin with my wife to start a small fish farm and Hydroponics farm i love it how you can do everything easy and relax here.
Hard working people in Thailand especially on the roads in blazing sun ☀️ it does somewhat remember me picking whelks for 5/6 hours a day in hot sun as child looking back it was slave labour but when you don’t know any better it seems normal thanks Ryan for sharing

What you don't mention is many if not all these people working on the roads are Burmese working for considerably less than the Thai minimum rate.
I mention both of those things
