Doing okay. Looks like some bags under your eyes. Trip is okay. For me I'm happy to see you and family doing good. Trip with family so you can get quick access to them while still working the channel is a good idea. It can help with life when you can get love and normalcy with family. Local characters like, possibly your father in law and his life, while separating himself from people, which is quite common as we get older. Sorry igf this is too personal. I'm Aussie, 70 years old in a week. (7/10/54).... 3 sons all doing their own thing, their mother got house, new car. It's okay I give freely. Me, living on old boat in Brisbane River. The boys came here for university. From Innisfail, North Queensland. I have had a good life. Wish it could last forever. 😂.. Will leave Brisbane next year and travel. I'm pretty happy and done a lot, so not much else to do. 👍❤️😇

Routine will dull our mind and take away our creativity. But routine will also calm us down and keep us grounded in the life we (or others) made for ourselves. We do need both. The trick is to balance our life out-not by finding a staple state and stay there …unless you meditate. But to live our days being aware of where we are. A time to play, a time to work. A time to rest, a time to travel. A time with family and friends, a time with ourselves. A time to give, a time to receive. A time to love, a time to forgive.
To travel is our way of getting to know our family of man (sorry ladies, just an English expression 😊). It is also a way to know ourselves. Travel so we can enjoy our place and people at home upon our return. Travel to soothe the mind of ours that refuses to be asleep. And travel ALONE is the best way for us to truly experience the journey. The cliché ‘Alone but not lonely’ is absolutely true. Make solitude and nature our best friends and make new friends along the way.
And when our legs refuse to carry us on the road, we can sit down at the front porch and tell our grandchildren the stories of different places and people. That’s what my father did when I was a teenager and that’s when I first heard of Mae Hong Son. He even sang the songs of the mountain people (we are the “city people” so to speak). 60 years later I still remember his stories about his trips, the stories that showed me that he is not only a father but also a man with his life filled with exciting experiences.
A morning hot porridge at a side walk in Chiangmai, a walk up the mountain in Dharamsala for a coffee, a bike around Puyin Oo Lwin for the best steamed chicken buns, a walk along a beautiful canal in Kyoto, a nap by the beach on Phú Quốc island, a best Chicken Hainan lunch in Penang…i must have inherited theses strong legs from my father. The beauty of this wandering is that I do have those lovely places to reminiscent and beautiful and kind people to remember and great stories to tell myself. Thank you Ryan I will one day soon enjoy the Burmese food in Pai.
Don’t stay asleep. We will wake up one afternoon nap, pass our hands through the hairs and see some white hairs. The fleeting shadow of a bird flying over a calm lake…that’s how ‘long’ our life is. 🍁

"Its only important if you've been doing RUclips for a long time and you're not up your ass about how important you are..." Classic! This trip has been a nice departure and I personally enjoy seeing new places, people, ideas. While I'd prefer to be present, the vlogs are entertaining nonetheless. Safe travels back home.

The food is most wonderful on the banana pancake trail. I haven't been over there in 10 years, but miss it every single day. I was trying to make the move this November, but determined one needs at least $1800 a month retirement or residual income and preferably about $30,000 cash in the bank as well as insurance and options to deal with life be it a surgery, natural disaster, or a world changing event presenting another big crisis like 2020. I don't believe we're going to be OK in America and Britain for much longer for it's getting crazy. Pai has really developed into a touristy center. When I went, I camped on the river and there was maybe 2 or 3 small plain restaurants with police watching us a bit too closely so I found that one uncomfortable and not so interesting. Interesting exploration in bringing the story of how Pai is changing since 2020, but a young liberal European crowd isn't my oyster though I've been around that many times wishing more Americans traveled. Well, lots of Americans are traveling and expatriating in the 2020's who are financially well off and then of course there are homeless backpackers risking it, but that's not the way to go abroad. How are the costs? $10 a night for fan room and $15 and up for aircon room with meals running $3 to $10? I see the inflation is not so terrible over like in America. Our food costs are really going up while quality is abysmal. My American dream is to leave America yet I was a most proud American 20 or more years ago with the drive and will to serve in our military which was a very steep brutalist learning curve about how this world works and what role America and other countries play forming the dangerous geopolitical quagmire and the unnecessary stupid wars. The truth is completely different than we were told and promised. I fear greatly what is to happen here and around the world when the US dollar and its new world order born out of WW2 collapses out on debt default known as sovereign credit crisis which is what sets off famines and wars. Then no where is going to be safe? I have $1400 USD disabled veteran income while America still stands. I wish to get back on that healthy food and into a healthy social life and outdoors without fear of shooters, road rage, and hostile lunatics which is problem all over America that's becoming a real mess.
Someone told me recently I should go on back to back B business visa since I'm $500 short of qualifying for retirement visa.
Is that a good idea for me to go on 3 month B visa. What would you recommends I get after in order to make a necessary expatriation not teaching ESL like in my younger years in South Korea and Thailand? I like Korea and Taiwan too, but that's hot war zone fixing to go off, most uncourtly so.
Thank you in advance if you took some time to pass me your knowledge and recommendations and advice.

We moved from Bangkok to our little village over a period of time so was a gradual thing as I got older. I couldn't see myself doing it at your age as I was still into adventure. Now I am happy to put my feet up, do a bit of farming and have the occasional laugh with the locals. I do enjoy a bit of dejavu though which your vlogs provide really well. Keep them coming :)

A must-visit spot is Pai’s canyon which is around a 20 minute bike ride out of town. This is a cool spot to hike around with beautiful panoramic views to marvel at. As someone scared of heights do struggle to explore some parts of the canyon as the drops are so steep, but if you’re braver than them there’s so much to explore. I think you should recommend coming here either at sunset or sunrise to be treated to some stunning sky views all around you. It’s super silent early in the morning with only the sound of birds and the breeze in the trees. If you’re into meditation then this is the perfect place to feel truly harmonious with the natural world in its stillness and quiet. Be sure to take your camera by taking images with Damo, Otis & Hugo because it’s a prime place for some gorgeous photos when you're going to bring them along when you're coming to Pai again!

If you think Rural Thailand is laidback the whole of Burma is ten times more laidback. Lovely people and country you feel like you went back in time. Nice vlog.

Hey man, I've discovered your channel recently and have found the insight into your life quite interesting. I feel like you and I have so much in common, I'm originally from Canada and we are almost the same age. I've lived the majority of my adult life in China and am now settled down in Taiwan. It feels like so much to type out, I feel like we've had similar journeys in life and have very similar outlook on things. I'm also quite stuck into my business and daily routines with not much of a social life, so it's really nice to hear someone else talk about these things.
I've made two short trips to Thailand this year and plan to do a few more over the next 12 months or so, my wife and I are exploring the possibility of moving to Thailand. Anyways...not sure where I am going with this comment, I guess I just want you to know I think you are doing a great job with youtube and your family. Hopefully you will see this, cheers.
