    Time after time, year after year, i keep coming back to this one... This interpretation is pure genius. I've heard the 6th many many times before earing this version, yet it seems i never really heard it. Maestro Jarvi and the orchestra did so well. Thank God and Beethoven for this gift to mankind.

    While I admire the Fifty, The Seventh and The Ninth a lot, The Sixth is my favourite. This is one of the finest performances I have ever heard and/or seen; the best for Symphony #6. The Thunderstorm and Shepherd's song parts I liked the most. Jarvi and the musicians have done great justice to the masterpiece. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

      I can't ever decide whether one is better than another. Each conductor and orchestra gives a different interpretation and character to a piece. Sometimes I'm in the mood for one particular version.

    This is the greatest piece of music ever written. And that comes from a jaded music fan whose tastes range from classical to industrial. This symphony re-unites us with nature. With ourselves. Beethoven was an utter genius.

    • @permaveg

      Geoff P Well said Geoff, my music flits between the likes of Killing Joke to the avant garde but Herr Beethoven's music is the vibrational link between we human's and nature and the primordial forces itself.
      "What you are , you are by accident of birth, what I am, I am by myself. There are and will be a thousand Princes : There is only one Beethoven" said the man himself.

  • @Deliquescentinsight
    @Deliquescentinsight 11 лет назад +15

    You are 100% on the nail there Gaspare, some of the more lofty music critic types often dismiss this wonderful creation as being 'simplistic' and even 'trivial'.
    It is neither of these things, it is a profound expression of joy, of light, of the beauty of the world...which is no small accomplishment-it is often easier to express sorrow than joy. Bravo Beethoven! Respect and appreciation always.

      It's interesting because the third fifth and ninth are the 3 symphonies with the biggest orchestras. Perhaps people were simply more impressed by those symphonies because of the amount of musicians (compared to symphonies 2, 4, 8 for instance, which did not push the envelope in this respect at all)

    Of the numerous video and audio recordings, this one stands out especially for the storm scene, just to mention one movement. The effect of this storm scene is a rare one that, in my opinion, Toscanini also achieved with the NBC Symphony Orchestra. Listen to how both conductors evoked the ferociousness, if not the terror, of the scene. Beethoven, even in his hard of hearing, would have loved it.

    Esta hermosa sinfonía No 6 "La pastoral" de Beethoven, despierta los mas bellos sentimientos y emociones en nuestro interior. Nos conduce a intuir la armonía de la naturaleza, sus momentos de paz y alegría; así como esos momentos oscuros de confusión y duda; en un mundo de velocidad cibernética. Al llegar a un final sublime nos invade un bello sentimiento de agradecimiento y felicidad. Catalogada como obra maestra y una de las sinfonías mas populares de Beethoven.

    Esta maravillosa obra clásica, vivirá por siempre, ya que el genio de su creador BEETHOVEN ES INMORTAL. DIOS BENDIGA A LOS QUE NOS BRINDARON TAL ARTE....

    Beethoven's mind was fast. So is his music. Järvi understands this.
