    I really like how articulate this video was, focusing on strategies and remedies, rather than styling which so many videos talk about. Given the subjectivity apparent in aquarium video comments, styling tips are a lost cause. But these strategies to combat algae and balance the tank, this is good stuff!
    Please keep up this (informative) style of video, the internet needs it.

    beautiful tank, thank you for the video. me personally, I would keep some small fish (e. g. tetras) in it to add some motion and colours. for me, fish are still the main point in the hobby - maybe this view is a litte old school ...

    Good basic information that many times it is overlooked. Especially the advice to tackle algae. Often, we remove the algae but don’t pay attention to what is the cause of it. Great information, keep up the good work.

    Thanks for the video. I got hair algae all over my mosses and decreased the liquid fertilizer to once a week and also used an electric vaccuum with a smaller head and it pulled the algae right off. The moss now looks much better and will continue this each week. Also, I have been dividing my light time to five hours in the morning with a two hour break and five hours in the afternoon, ramping up to 100% in the morning and ramping down to 75% in the afternoon. But my high light plants are all over the tank mixed with the low light plants so I might have to have two lights. My Ludwigia is a slow grower but I will soon have to start trimming it back. I am almost at three months since setup so I have to be patient and realize things take time.

    So I'm going through a battle with hair algae on a 150L planted tank with almost 4 weeks now. My NO3 and PO4 are very low, I have pressurized CO2 and strong lighting. Do you think I should use fertilizers macros and Micros while I'm having all this hair algae? I use tropica soil powder and I have available tropica specialized and premium nutrition.
    Thank you in advance

  • @dADAquaHobby

    1st thing, if there is no flow agitation of water inside tank, then there is a possibility of algae, 2nd. co2 is less, 3rd, if you trim and replant, then the dirt form from substrate sets on the leaves, 4. adding access amount of iron with out CO2. 5th, bright light with out CO2.

    Nice tank I’ve got a 60p as well and I have 0 algae in my tank I do 2 to 3 water changes a week I only clean the glass for green spot algae and do a bit of siphoning the substrate and then take out 60 or 70 percent water change 🌱

    i have pinnatifida but its melting. what could be the cause. i have co2 injection and good lighting. it was growing good before but now its slowly melting.

  • @williammcdowell6257
    @williammcdowell6257 3 года назад

    Interesting, perhaps shorten the photo period and keep the intensity (changing one parameter at a time) and then if you still get hair algae consider less lighting. Core issue seems to be low and high light intensity i.e. plants receiving the same light regime with different demands, perhaps allow stem plants to largely cover the surface before less severe trimming, or introduce floating plants? Still, nice tank.

    I am currently fighting hair algae and also doing regular weekly 50 % water changes. Tank is a 100 litre with lot of hard scape , rocks, wood and quite heavily planted with CO2 injection. I am dosing Tropica Premium daily. Would 2 weekly water changes help in order to fight hair algae? I know there are a lot of factors to consider. Thank you

    • @PlantedElement
      @PlantedElement 3 года назад +1

      Nothing wrong with doing more frequent water changes. Maybe a 30% midweek and a 50% end of week. The biggest thing is consistency, so give it a go!

      @williammcdowell6257 3 года назад +1

      Is your freshly added water low in macro nutrients? What are your macro nutrient readings in the tank before and after adding nutrients to the water column? What is the intensity and duration of lighting? Do you exploit floating plants? All to play around with to adjust and solve this issue. Good luck.

  • @unwired
    @unwired 3 года назад

    Since your plants are from Tropica, your algae would come from your water source, assuming it is not filtere,d ideally, 1-micron...I have tanks with no algae even no water changes for months with high-energy. Try to filter your water and observe...
    also, Moss is best carrier of algae spore, much better from trusted source like Tropica or Moss dedicated farm with lots of shrimp on it...

      Having both low is not recommended as they are essential for Ludwigia Palustris and Pinnatifida, mostly for the red coloration.
