Testing Our BLUE CRAB Traps [ Pots] Catch and Cook

  • Blue Crabs, In this video we'll be setting our Blue Crab traps [pots] on the East Coast of Florida. This will be the first time we set our crab traps since installing turtle excluders on them. We picked this area because it is the closest to home and we were anxious to to see if the traps still caught crabs. For bait we used fish carcasses. After letting our crab traps set for 2 days we pulled them. We didn't expect to catch a lot of blue crabs at this spot but we were pleasantly surprised after pulling them and ended up with a nice mess of Blue Crabs and some Stone Crabs as a by catch. We were also glad to see that the turtle excluders had no negative effect on the traps catching Blue Crabs. #bluecrabs #catchingbluecrabs #cookingbluecrabs #turtleexcluders

We share a crabbing spot at Tomoka. I took an old timer, other than myself, crabbing and fishing there Tuesday. Nothing but dinks. Two keeper crabs and tons of bait size. Biggest fish of the day was an 8" mangrove, caught one 3 inch one...and a 7 inch redfish. I looked around and my buddy was gone. Started looking around and found him. He stood on the bank by the trashcan to pee, lost his footing and went headfirst off the two foot drop into the water. He got tangled in roots and had to use one hand to keep his head out of the water. I found out I'm not as strong as I used to be but got him out after a half hour...
