I've watched about 3 videos so far from Floorsbysouthernboys. I must say, I'm impressed! I'm a CFI certified master installer and trainer. On a previous video I watched you add latex on a carpet to ceramic transition. You added latex to prevent the primary from separating from the secondary. I would only suggest you do the same for this transition. Otherwise I'm super impressed with your posts! Keep up the great work!

I told the tenant it was not her fault carpet was frayed at the transitions and she was so relieved.

Rachel Reeves I don’t think so, if it is a tile or marble fireplace then yes I have videos showing how to work carpet to tile , If it is brick then you will work it just like it was a wall, if it is flush with the floor then you will use a Z bar to transition down

Super helpful! Thank You. If you were carpeting half of a room in basement is this the type of transition you would use where carpeted area meets the bare floor? I have installed tack strips at my 3 walls but where the open side carpet meets the unfinished concrete portion of the room I've held off installing the strips for the time being. I understand there's a height difference from the materials but I'm attempting this install for a first time and wonder if putting tack strips along a threshold transition where walking occurs is a mistake. Hope my question is clear. Your videos have been super helpful. Thanks again. P.S. Just saw your video on the Z-Bar where you did use a tack strip and fold over and under maybe that would work for this install.

Matt Smith You can take a hammer and tap down if you feel where the pens are with your fingers tap them down with a hammer do a few then look at it and see if you’re going to be OK with the way it looks because certain carpets it will leave dimples like John Travolta’s chin, so make sure you’re going to be OK with it before you do the whole strip
