Catatumbo Lightning: What Is The Beacon Of Maracaibo?

- Beacon of Maracaibo (also called Maracaibo lightning/Catatumbo lightning) refers to the phenomenon of relentless lightning which goes on for nearly 300 days in a calendar year and for over 9 hours in each of those days. This seemingly 'eternal' storm is typically observed in lake Maracaibo in Venezuela where it meets the Catatumbo river.
Unusual concentrated incidences of intense lightning have made Maracaibo lightning a phenomenon in its own right. It is most active in the months of September and October, and least active in January and February. There are two well-known spots that mark this remarkable incidence: the southwest region of the lake and the Colombia- Venezuela border.
Beacon of Maracaibo has helped Venezuela earn the position as the Guinness Book record holder for the ‘highest concentration of lightning’. Even NASA has acknowledged Maracaibo lightning as ‘Lightning Hotspot’ of the world.

Wish u actually show more videos of the lighting not just other drawings. ...
If the lighting keep striking over that particular water then I wonder can lighting strike penetrated under water if so how deep. I wish I could've explored beneath the water in that particular spot
Hilariously they use fake lightning graphics to show it
Is this place actually real? Why cant i find any videos?
Yes, it is real.
@@ScienceABCII I can't find any good timelapse footage of it ): only camera men bragging and yapping about their experience with the place
