- Today's video is a highly requested large scale macrame wall hanging tutorial, keep reading for all the nitty-gritty details! Even if you are a macrame beginner I would encourage you to try this out, it is a large piece but you only need your basic knots and even those are quite easy in this wall hanging. Have fun!
The finished macrame wall hanging is about 130 cm (51 in) wide and 100 cm (39 in) long in the largest section.
I only needed two supplies:
Drift wood that was 160 cm (63 in) long
342 m (374 yd) of the Neutral 5 mm single twist macrame cord
Here are the macrame cord measurements for the individual sections of the macrame wall hanging:
Large middle section:
1x4 m
8x4 m
8x2,5 m
24x2 m
52x80 cm for the fringe
Smaller sections on the sides:
1x3 m
6x2,5 m for the braids
14x1,5 m
32x70 cm for the fringe
The above is for one section only
Filler section (between the middle and the side sections):
5x120 cm
The above is for one section only
Braids:
1x6,5m
11x5,5m

This is absolutely beautiful. It's 1 am and I just went foraging in my brush pile for a appropriate sized/shaped branch to make this on for my living room 😂
😅😅 Well I hope you are not doing macrame all night instead of sleeping! But I do appreciate the enthusiasm!
I want to thank you for the great video. this was my choice for my first macramé. thanks to you and your extra videos on easier knitting with long yarns i think i got it
Thank you for these instructions. I bought the macrame cord and it's arriving today. Going to look for my driftwood this evening. I am so excited. I did macrame probably 40 years ago - but just took it up again. I appreciate this so much - your directions look amazing and the piece is beautiful! I'll will post a comment when I'm done.
That is a giant piece! Really fits your whole boho flat styling!
Thank you! Yes, it is definitely my style 😊
Just found this huge and lovely piece of macrame. Too big for me sadly. I'm interested to see some of your techniques which are new to me. I will watch and learn. 😁
Sounds like a good plan to me 😉
This is a stunning piece
My first piece and it was really easy with your advices !
WoW! It’s the most magnificent , big boho macrame piece I’ve seen in my life. Bravo! I really find it so beautiful 🤩 thank you again. Love it 🥰. Good job as usual 👏
I'm glad you like it Chantal! 😊
I love your videos and appreciate so much that you share your tutorials. Do you have the tutorial for the wall hanging behind you with the shelf?? That is also very cool, and I'd love to try that one if you have it. Thank you for what you do.
Glad to hear you like the tutorials 🙂 Here is the shelf one if you haven't found it yet ruclips.net/video/JxSbdzCUV64/видео.html
Замечательная работа! Спасибо мастеру за урок, объясняет понятно даже без перевода.
thank you 😊
Absolutely stunning !!!
Thank you so much!
I love this so much, you are lovely to watch. I would love it if you would show your work as you do the knots, I found myself getting confused.
Thank you 😊 I usually do that on smaller pieces that are more targeted to beginners. As this was quite a big project I assumed that the people making it already have the basic knots covered...
Gorgeous!
❤
Thank you! 😊
Hello, I found your projects amazing. I am from Belgium and your English and the way you teach" hows to" is incredible. Thank you! I am now looking forward to make this project (after a few practice). You talk about a description box with the cords lenght, however I cannot see that? I would like to have an idea to buy enough cords.
Moreover, I am making pottery, and now I am thinking introducing macramé in my projects, thank you again for sharing and inspiring me!
That is really nice to hear and I hope you will have a lot of fun with macrame! The description is always below the video, if you are watching on a phone or a tablet I think you have to click the little drop-down arrow next to the title of the video to open it. If you are on a computer you can see a little bit of the text below the video and you have to click "show more" to see the entire thing 😉 I hope that helps.
Sorry! I just saw the description box! Oups!
Absolutely beautiful,
Will have to do this one
Have fun! And let me know how it went 😉
Would like to thank you. I am new to this and just followed your very easy tutorial and i love mine
Great to hear!
Wow what a wonderful work you make it so easy with your explanation than it looks thank you so much 😍❤
This one really wasn't that complicated even though it is a big piece 😉
Beautiful piece ❤ I wonder if there will be big difference if I use 3mm cord?🤔
Thank you for this amazing tutorial!!! I enjoyed it so much :)
You're so welcome! 🙂
Hey! Do you think i could try it with 3mm cord? its beautiful
Thank you Anna, it´s beautiful!!!!!!
I'm glad you like it 😊
Wonderful! Good luck and keep of the good work🍀💐💗
Thank you! Will do!
Love it! Scarry to make it!
It really is not that difficult 🙂 I know it looks intimidating because it's big but I was only using a few of the basic knots and you just repeat the pattern over and over...
Thank you 🤗😍❤️👍
You are welcome 🙂
This looks beautiful and I'm going to try this myself. Can you let me know how many metres of cord you bought for this and how long the cut lengths were, thanks so much x
For the large section when you attach all the cords i am curious about the shortest ones. In your video you said 14 on each side but in the description it says 24 so that would be 12 for each side. I'm wondering if i need 12 or 14 per side! Thank you!! This piece is absolutely gorgeous!
My question exactly!😅
Maybe you already figured this out but at about 4:55 in the video I am mentioning that I had to take out 2 of the short cords on each side so there are 12 😉 Have fun making it!
It's really beautiful, I only have a doubt about the smaller section. You wrote in the description 14 pieces x 1.5 m. But in the video I undestood 20 in total. Could you please clarify that point. A bunch of thanks 😍
Thank you 😊 It is 20 cords in total - 6 that are a bit longer so that you can make the braids out of it (2,5 m) and then the 14 which are shorter at 1,5 m. I hope this clarifies it.
@@annabaginova01 Perfect. I sent you some photos to your Instagram ❤🤲
Ok I did it 😍 sent you pictures on IG, it really was easier than it looks lol. Thank you 😄
Awesome! It looks great and even though it’s easier than it looks it definitely takes some time and effort to make 😌
Hi :) First of all thanks for uploading this video! I do have a question.. I didn't manage to understand how you're able to make the three diamonds in the middle and I didn't find a video of yours that explains it. Do you have a video explaining the method of this? Thanks!
Outstanding!!!
Hi this looks amazing. I am so confused by the measurements though. You mention just a couple of lengths in the video for each section but in the comments you have multiple groups of different lengths?
Hi there, are you talking about the middle section? I do that just so that I can save some cord on the parts where I know I won't be needing them as long. I am mentioning in the video which ones are the long ones and which are the short ones. You can always just cut them at the longest length to make it easier 😉
Hey there! I'm just starting this and at 5 minutes - you state you had to remove to cords?? So, should I remove two as well to keep up with the rest of the tutorial? I'm confused? Thank you ;-)
Thank you .Спаибо огромное Вам! Получилось очень красиво! Жаль нельзя вставить фото .
WOW! Amazing
Thank you 😊
The description says that I need 24x2m for the middle part. In the video you say that you need 14x2m per side. This would be in total 28x2m. What is right? :)
I ended up changing this later in the video so the description is correct 😉
I like the shelf piece you have in the background, did you do a tutorial for that one? If so, can you give me the link?
I found the link, so please ignore the comment above. Thanks.
Very good
Go ahead
Thank you!
Dobrý deň Anka, najprv chcem pochváliť Vašu prácu. Mate naozaj zlaté ručičky. Neviem sa na Vaše diela vynadívať. 😍 Chcela by som sa spýtať či môžem použiť aj triple twist cord namiesto single twist? Dosiahnem rovnako pekný výsledok? Ďakujem za odpoveď. ❤️
Dobrý den, moc děkuju za chválu 🙂 Určitě můžete použít i 3ply, výsledek bude trošku jiný, 3ply má o něco výraznější texturu, ale myslím, že ten rozdíl nebude zase tak zásadní...
Hello! I’m going to attempt this wall hanging. I have a question…. I find using the single twist hard to work with and the braided alot easier.
Would using the braided cord make a big difference? Since you aren’t brushing it out? I guess I would miss out on the boho/rustic vibe…
Hi there 🙂 I completely understand, I find the braided cord a lot easier as well. Maybe you've already made it but to your question I don't think there will be a huge difference but it will be a bit straighter and so yes, I think some of the boho/rustic vibe will be missing but it's not like it would be a completely different piece.
Can you please tell me what will be the length of the main cord in the middle section? The one on which the other cords are added?
That one was 4 m, you can find all the measurements in the description of the video 😉
Hey I'm complitely new to this, and I'm a little lost lol
Are the cords measurements in the description after you already folded it in half? Or is it the length of single cord?
So for example if the description says there is 8 x 4m do I need 8 cords that are 4m long and fold them the way you did? Or do I need 8 cords that are 8 m long so 4m after I fold them?
I'm just a macrame baby sorry 🙈
Hey Dagmara, no worries at all 😉 all the measurements are before folding, so I am giving you the length you are supposed to cut. In the example you should cut 8 cords each 4 m long
@@annabaginova01 thank you! I'll try something smaller first, but I'll definitely make this one! You're super talented! Thank you for sharing your knowledge here ❤️
This is gorgeous, thank you for posting! If I was to use 4mm cord, how would I adjust the lengths?
4 and 5 mm is a very slight difference so I probably wouldn’t adjust the lengths for this…
Thank you :)
You're welcome!
Beautiful. How long does this take in real time? Thank you for sharing.
Thank you 😊 I think this one was probably around 15 hours of work...
@@annabaginova01 this would keep me from shoving food in my face. lol. Thank you.
I'm in America and I tried to convert from metric to feet but I'm a little confused when your notation is 1x6, 5m or 6x2, 5m
I think it's easiest if you use an online conversion calculator like this one for example www.calculator.net/conversion-calculator.html You can just put in the 6,5 or 2,5 for the meters and it will convert to feet ;)
Absolutely stunning! Is it for sale?
The description of the cord lengths is very confusing
I know there is a lot, let me know which part you are struggling with and I will see if I can help clarify 😉
Ididnt understand how long you cut in thr middle and on the sides csn you explain more pls?
Precioso 💓💓💓
I did it 🤩 it's wonderfull in my living room over the sofa.
How can I send you some pics?
That’s awesome! I would love to see the pics. Best way is on Instagram, you can find me under @uzliky 😉
I loved itttttt ♥️♥️♥️
Thank you 😊
So when doing the very first cord for the middle section, I need both sides to have long cords to be able to travel down with the double half hitches into the diamond? (I hope that makes sense!)
Yes, exactly, you will use those cords for the diamonds in the middle.
Dlaczego nie podajesz długości sznurków?
Great✨💕
Thanks 😊
Bonjour, je ne comprends pas le nombre de cordes que vous mettez... , jai regardé dans la description mais j'ai l'impression que vous mettez plus de cordes. Surtout sur la corde du milieu...merci et bravo pour votre travail.
So it is true that at first I have put up more cords in the middle but I had to take some out because I couldn't fit them all in with the double half hitches (see video at 5:00). I hope that makes more sense now.
I want to do it with 3 mm cord. How would this effect the lenght of the cords or the wooden stick?
So in general the piece would be smaller but as for the length of the cord I am not sure, I think it will be okay to cut the cords a little bit shorter but I have never done this piece in 3mm so I can't give you any exact measurements. And I am not sure what you mean with how will it affect the wooden stick...?
Hii so overall you used 350 meter of macrame cord ?
342 m to be precise, all is in the description of the video 😉
Can someone explain those measurements please...
Do you mean
One 4m longcord
Eight 4m cords
... if so that would be nine 4m cords..
Please can someone explain how she has wrote the measurements out please..😅
So the example that you mention was separate like this on purpose to go with the tutorial because you are using the first cord on the wood and then you are hanging the other 8 cords onto it 😉 I hope this helps to clarify.
Ik weet niet waar ik welke koord moet hangen???
How long did it take you to finish it?
I know I am answering this kinda late so you may not need this information anymore but I would say this one took maybe about 10 hours.
What king of cord do you use?
This one was done with single twist cord. You can always find the type of cord I am using in the description of the video and I also always talk about it at the beginning when going through the supplies 😉
Muito lindo mas que pena não tem o tamanho dos fios
You can find all the measurements in the description of the video 😉
How is this beautiful piece hung on the wall?
So . . . can I just buy one from you?
You absolutely can 😊 Now I don't have a shop set up or anything but if you saw something on my RUclips channel that you really liked (like the wall hanging that you are commenting on) it is very likely that I still have it and can sell it. It would be best if you could contact me on my email - uzliky@gmail.com and we can discuss further.
Cord lengths?
All in the video description 😉
I wish I had it in inches and feet.
I just ask Siri or google or Alexa for it in inches & feet
Il n'y a pas les mesures?
The measures are always included in the description of the videos 😉
Combien de longueur de corde svp
You can find the measurements in the video description 😉
I like the design, but for a tutorial you need to explain where you place each length and show how to do each of the knots. This took a beginner a while to figure out.
I always try to balance the amount of information in my tutorials so that there is enough for beginners but also it's not too repetitive or simple for more advanced makers. And I know I won't be able to please everyone as everyone has different preferences so I just have to go with my best guess of what will work for most people....I am glad to hear you were able to piece it together in the end 🙂
Efekt ładny, ale szkoda, że łatwe rzeczy pokazujesz jak zrobić, a o trudniejszych tylko mówisz jak zrobić. Niewiele się nauczyłam, a szkoda, bo projekt mi się podobał. Miłego dnia.
It's seems wider than 5mm🤔🤔🤔
hmmm....it might be because in some sections the cord gets a bit untwisted as you are working with it and then it looks thicker...
Por favor traduce
I am trying to add more subtitles however they can be quite expensive so it's going slowly...
Hola x favor traducir al castellano gracias ¡¡
Hola Carmen, at the moment I am not planning to add any foreign language subtitles as they are a bit too expensive for me. That might change in the future...
@@annabaginova01 gracias ya encontré otro video traducido en castellano
Hello it’s wonderful. I have a question, what’s a difference if I use 3mm ? I’ve only that… it’s possible to do totally the same method with that mesure ? Thanks a lot 🤍
Thank you 😊 So in general the piece would be smaller if you use 3mm and I think it will be okay to cut the cords a little bit shorter but I have never done this piece in 3mm so I can't give you any exact measurements. If you follow the same measurements you will have a bit more leftover cord at the end....
You are just incredible and I would love to challenge myself in making this ❤️ Well done !! Xox lots of love from Canada @the.kind.knot
Thank you 😊 You absolutely should, it really isn't as difficult as it looks, I am sure you will have fun making it 😉 I saw on your Instagram that you are well practiced with macrame so you should definitely give it a try!
how long did it take you to do this?
This was one of the longer projects, I would guess about 10 - 15 hours...
