This was such a great tutorial! I have never done macrame before, but wanted to give it a try, so I got my supplies together, played this video at quarter speed as I worked to make sure I really understood how you were tying the knots, paused before you moved on to the next step while I caught up, and was surprised at how well it turned out! Thanks for the awesome video!!!
This was my first project. I loved your tutorial Crystal…so easy to follow. I added some colour to match my daughter’s decor. She’s going to love this wall hanging over her bed. Thanks for the great tutorials…keep them coming. I’m addicted. 🙄
Just finished making this, your fantastic clear instructions made it easy for me as a beginner to follow along. I’m so happy with the end result, thank you so much.
Hi crystal! Love the piece! I’m trying to do the double half hitch knots (2:40 ish onwards) but can’t make it out properly in the video, I tried slowing it down too. Just wondering if they are the same or different to the ‘shorts’ video you posted on double half hitch knots? Also, do you do both pieces of cord from each lark’s head? Thank you in advance 🙏
It is the same, and I also have a blog post that explains it pretty well over on my blog that might help you out! www.marchingnorth.com/how-to-tie-a-double-half-hitch-knot/ Good luck!! 😊 😊 😊
@@MarchingNorth Thank you for this great instructional video. I was wondering if you would have a guestimate on which cut pieces I could lengthen to make this about 36” finished length.
@@PamzieM I gotta be honest and say math and I are not friends, so it's hard for me to say for sure- most of the fringe is added with larks head knots around the edges (except the center fringe in the front middle), so it would be pretty easy to make that fringe as long as you want. I would add extra length to the 8 cords used for the alternating square knot bands that come together in the middle because that's where the center fringe comes from. I hope that helps a little- I have to test everything and measure the results to figure out lengths. There's a lot of trial and error that happens when I make a pattern, lol.
This is going to be my first project as a Christmas gift!! But I'd like to add some beads and some color in here somehow, do you have any advice on how to do that? Is there any way I could send you a message?
I’m thinking you would need more pieces of string to fill in the fringe areas and alternating square knot sections would be smaller but maybe you could add 2 extra strings on each side and make the band a bit wider. It would look really pretty I think but you’d have to tweak the pattern a bit to get the same size. Hope that helps!
I’m sure you could but I’m not sure about the lengths since I haven’t tried it. I’d just make the cords longer but I don’t know what the dimensions would be, I’m sorry!
@@MarchingNorth thank you. I was able to find it, but I signed up for the newsletter three times and didn’t get a password, no worries I bookmarked your site so I can just pull it up on the computer. I found a beautiful wall hanging I would love to do but the artist does it have a tutorial so I’m hoping I can get good enough to make one “like” hers, but not copy it exactly.
Hmm you should of gotten an email with the password in it- I’ll make sure everything is working correctly! Good luck, let me know if you have any other questions 😊
@@MarchingNorth I am so dumb! I found the email. Sorry I have too many electronics and can’t find anything on them. I love your site and I was especially jazzed that you have tutorials for wood burning! I got a wood burner for Christmas so stoked to see a tutorial that makes sense. Thank you for all your help!!
Personally wasnt happy with no directions on cord measurements in the video, as it was only in the description section. I had to watch the video a few times to figure out which lengths were which parts. I would personally recommend putting thevmeasurements in each section of the video. Otherwise pretty good. 🙂
@@MarchingNorth yes, but thats what I had trouble with. Also, you didnt specify how many rows of square knots to do, so I ended up needing less fringe(or more once I finally saw there were 2 knots in each loop. ) just a messy tutorial for me personally.

How long did it take you?
It was great..I followed the exact guidance and made a curtain like this.

thank you!! it turned out awesome!! Easy to follow instructions!!
Ooh! If that was two-sided it could be a beach cover-up😍
Hello, just wondering if this will turn out ok on a piece of curved driftwood that’s 115cm long with a slight v shape?

This is a very good tutorial, thank you. You explained everything clearly from start to finish. This is my next project.
Hello pretty how are you doing and how’s the family as well ?
Going to begin too 😀 thanks for the patient and elaborate tutorial 🙏
Fantastic tutorial!
I’ve never tried macrame before and just made this. AMAZING. Thank you, so easy!!
Yay awesome!! You’re so welcome!! 😊
This is so pretty!!! Can I ask what is the dimension of the finished product?
What kind of wood is the dowel? Thank you for this tutorial!!
nice work, i don't understand english very well but you explained it very well 👏👏👏👏👏😍😘

I’m making this now thanks to you!!!!
It turned out great! It’s hanging above our bed. I love running my fingers thru the strings while I lay in bed. Thanks again!!!! ❤️✌🏻
Thank you ❤
Hello the measures of the cords.. Are they in inches or centemeters?
Inches 😊
Hi, would you change anything if I have a 5mm width cord?
You will need to cut your cords about 25% longer with 5 mm cord. It should work fine besides that! Good luck!!
WOW! This is a stunning piece! Thanks so much for the excellent tutorial. Very well done & inspiring me to get going on this beauty!

@@MarchingNorth Thank you for this great instructional video. I was wondering if you would have a guestimate on which cut pieces I could lengthen to make this about 36” finished length.
@@MarchingNorth Do you think just adding an additional 5” of cord to each cut piece would be enough?

It looks great, can’t wait to try it 😍 i have a 3 mm cord, what do you think, is it possible with 3 mm or shell i get a new cord 4 mm ?
Made it! Love it! Thank you!
Beautiful! What is the total width and length of the total piece?
The macrame part is about 29” tall and 36” wide- the wooden dowel is 48” long. Thanks for stopping by!
I can’t wait to get my supplies and make this beautiful piece of art. I’m glad it’s back. . . I haven’t made anything macrame since the 70’s, lol!!!
how many ropes did you use in total? after i calculate is it true about 122 meters?? Please answer

Hey. Could you tell me lenghts in cm?
Hi! Can I use non twisted thread?
Sure! The fringe will look a little different but that’s totally fine 😊
Hey ! What is the sizes of the finished pice?
You can find all the measurements in the written blog post 😊😊😊 www.marchingnorth.com/diy-macrame-wall-hanging/

Hello, a quick question. Is that 3mm cord in the video? It looks larger?
It’s 4mm rope
Serait il possible d’avoir les quantités de corde que ça prend merci 😮
Love it, thank you
Can use 6mm cord? If so what lengths? Thanks 🤞
