The global market for cosmetic surgery and procedures was valued at USD 63.4 billion in 2021 and is predicted to grow at a compound annual rate of 9.6% from 2022 to 2030. This growth is attributed to the introduction of innovative aesthetic devices, which has led to an increased demand for cosmetic treatments. One such device is non-invasive body contouring systems that use fat freezing technology, which is expected to create lucrative growth opportunities. Non-invasive body fat reduction was among the top 5 non-invasive procedures performed in the U.S. in 2020 with 140,314 procedures done, according to the Aesthetic Society.
As of 2022 lip lift procedures are a growing aesthetic procedure. While precise statistics for the year may not be available, there has been a general increase in demand for this procedure in recent years. The lip lift is a surgical procedure that shortens the space between the nose and upper lip to create a more defined and youthful upper lip. It has become increasingly popular as patients seek more natural-looking results than what can be achieved with lip fillers alone. Additionally, social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok have contributed to the growing interest in the procedure, as people have been exposed to its results through influencers and celebrities. Overall, the lip lift is a procedure that has gained momentum and is expected to continue growing in popularity in the coming years.
In this video we will discuss the Bull Horn Lip lift and the possible celebrities like Bella Hadid, Mindy Kaling, Dove Cameron, Demi Moore and Kim Kardashian who may have had the procedure. A bull horn lip lift is a cosmetic surgical procedure that is performed to elevate the upper lip and make it appear fuller and more youthful. The procedure gets its name from the shape of the incision, which resembles the curved horns of a bull. During the procedure, a plastic surgeon will make an incision under the nose, just above the upper lip, and remove a small amount of skin to shorten the distance between the nose and the upper lip. The remaining skin is then lifted and sutured to the base of the nose, resulting in a more defined and lifted upper lip.
The bull horn lip lift is a popular option for patients who have a long upper lip or a lack of lip volume, as it can create a more aesthetically pleasing balance between the lips and the surrounding facial features. The procedure can be performed on its own or in combination with other facial rejuvenation treatments, such as fillers or Botox, to achieve a more comprehensive facial rejuvenation. However, as with any surgical procedure, there are risks involved, and patients should consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon to determine if the bull horn lip lift is right for them.

För years now I've wanted a lift lip, maybe I'll go for it. One thing I've noticed over the years is the patient feedback sites have gone from very high satisfaction to lower, maybe 70% approval. More issues reported with muscle involved surgery, a couple of surgeons even stopped doing that surgery. That's one reason I hesitate, will I need to relearn how to move my mouth?

I have never had this procedure but I had an accident where my superior labial frenum (the little piece of muscle above your teeth) was cut completely and now I have more difficulty closing my lips, I can imagine this is something similar as it also includes cutting a piece of skin that is directly related with closing the mouth but I would recommend you search a lot about what people who have had this done say about it, specifically how this have affected them throughout the years and your surgeon's advice

For some professions it's the opposite. For example if you want a labioplasty definitely choose a urologist or gynecologist instead of a plastic surgeon because a plastic surgeon generally won't have as much experience at that type of surgery. For lip lifts some skilled oral surgeons might be better than plastic surgeons etc. but it all depends on the individual surgeon and how much experience they have over that specific procedure.

Finally I can give some advice on a thing I've experienced! I had a liplift and can give some comments:
    1) Make sure your vision matches the surgeon's vision. You can't be unrealistic on what to expect from you procedure, but you can also "demand" something more dramatic if it was possible. Usually docs do what they think is OK, but remember you're paying, so you can request what YOU want.
    2) Of course, look for a GOOD PROFESSIONAL. As Lorry says, research on how many liplifts has done, and see results (often as before-after pics. If they don´t have any though they say is a procedure they do.... mmmmhh.. doubts on you, doc!)
    3) If it's a doc that does the procedure often, be very firm when talking about having a neat suture. I love my results, but some of the stitches needed extra care and she (my surgeon) didn't warn me about it. Skin gets weak when scarring and while you keep talking and eating, etc., it will surely need surgical tape or similar as support for a good while. My scars are somewhat visible and I hate them, to be honest.
    4) Finally and something I didn't see mentioned in the video but is just a thing that's totally bareable: You can lose sensitivity in the area of the scar. 2 years later and I never ever got back full sensitivity of the area. And is a bit uncomfortable. Is normal since the skin gets numb where there's a scar, but feels even weirder when it's on your face.
Final comment: I don't regret AT ALL. I look more youthful, my cupid's bow is more accentuated and my features changed for the better 100%. I'd do it all over again without hesitation.

This is such an important conversation to open up that is pretty natural progression from beauty standards shifting over time. We’re in an era where many of us grew up with avatars customizable in games and seeing celebrities with all sorts of cosmetic procedures. Nowadays kids are growing up with cgi characters and 3d models of real people in digital spaces. Knowing what is achievable in physical reality and how your body can be expected to heal is vital information for anyone considering comparing themselves to any kind of beauty “standard” that can cost thousands of dollars. I hope humans start to enjoy the natural diversity of faces and open up the ideals to more varieties of human.

I’m glad you did this overview, Lorry, because I haven’t understood lip lifts. Now that you have explained it so well, I’m skeptical. Given the cost, the scarring and the other risks, I don’t think it’s worth it, especially if there’s a chance you could have your speech affected or not be able to move your mouth naturally. Even the “good” results are so subtle that I don’t think I’d do it even if it was gifted to me.
So now the dreaded long philtrum isn’t good according to our beauty standards. It’s hard to keep up. The more I watch these types of videos the more important it is for me to accept myself as God made me.

I do wonder why so many women want such enormous lips. If your lips are smaller or somewhat thin, that is what nature intended. I think of Ann-Margret--my idol as a kid--whose lips were thin and perfectly complemented the rest of her face. Or Natalie Wood, whose upper lip was not all puffed up. All this talk of philtrums confuses me. What? It's just a normal part of the face. Some poor people have a smooth philtrum which lacks the characteristic groove; it is a sign that their mothers drank heavily in pregnancy (now THAT is something that needs a fix!). To me, nothing is worth compromising the ability to speak clearly and comfortably.

I naturally have m-shaped-lips (that’s where the upper lip is facing downward, looking like the letter M from the front). The doctor performed a bullhorn excision skin only, and shortened my Philtrum from 20 to 10 mm. It really boosted my confidence long term. There is a visible scar, it’s just white and as I am very pale that’s not a big deal. Only downside is that the scar on the left nostril has a little indent that creates a shadow that makes my nostrils look slightly asymmetrical. But either way, no regrets. Had it done at 25, 4 years ago. Life is better with a top lip.

I think celebrities already start out being more beautiful than the average person and we get so used to their look that when they change it, the audience’s initial reaction is confusion. When it comes to before and afters of regular people, we’re not attached to any features and are just generally more open minded. Celebrities also get more procedures done while not “needing” them. The average person can’t afford to do that so they tend to go for the ones that make the biggest difference/improvement to their features. The regular peoples before and afters are also the ones taken and used by doctors as advertisements, so they’re usually best case scenarios for each procedure. I wonder if the zoom in on features in those photos vs full face and body of celebrity photos also affects how we interpret the outcomes.
