the main frustrating feature of the PO-(1)33 is that you can only use 1 scale, no key changes (well it's possible but cumbersome). the megaman one allows to use all 12 semi tones of the western scale.
I found your explanation easier than anyone even Riki s. . But I’m of a certain age .. I bought this months ago and gave up on it, but it’s useable now , , like
Hey man, which one is your favorite? I plan on doing the same thing. I'm going to be making an album using the KO-33, Tonic, Sub, Office, Robot, and the green Rick and Morty Voice Synth one. I had to buy all of my second hand and find them used online. The only one I'm missing which would make a big impact on the sound is probably the Arcade or Rhythm, I was thinking? Any tips or tricks since you've already did all the leg work? I'll make sure to check your channel out. Thanks man!
@@andyr0ck get the Tonic. You can import other drums via data sync and the interface is easiest to master. 2nd choice would be the PO12 Rhythm-easy to master and sounds great but it is limited as an older PO.
I managed to collect 6 pocket operators over time... I actually bought the Office and Sub together for $50 on FB market. They are so expensive, but if you're poor like me... it can be done, just gotta be patient and try to find good deals like on OfferUp or craigslist. Good luck!
How does the new transpose feature on the Megaman work? Apparently it’s in a different key than the other chiptune POs, and I’m wondering if transposing can let them jive.
Wait, what?! 70 euro for a sample board? No way my dude 😂. Just Google it "street fighter free sample soundboard", and record it, clean it, do whatevs with audacity (Google it too), is free. Also, you can download the emulator and record the sampler sounds in-game, there's an option in the main menu. No hate, just love to all my duders who don't live in the first world, or less fortunate 1st world-ers who don't have that money for this. The thing is that you have an outlet for your creativity! Start creating now, cheers!
Hey man, what emulator allows you to record sounds? I have a bunch of ROMs and use my Wii to run homebrew software for playing old RPGs and was thinking about doing some remixes using the pause function and just trying to loop it manually LMAO, but it sounds like you've figured out a better way to go about recording 8 bit sounds...
with a PO you can make a tune faster than it takes for your PC to boot. also audacity doesn't fit in your pocket. you really are comparing things that do not compare.
I know some like this odd quirky sounding stuff, but serious this is just overpriced toys that is put into a small form factor so you can't really use it for anything usefull. I know we all thaught this was cool back in the times when 8 bit samplers was the standard, but now really ? only usefull in kids toys that "speaks"
I've used it as an instrument on several songs, being able to record samples and sequence them and record what you've done into the computer is super nice if you don't feel like pulling out a big ass sampler just for something simple the UI layout just makes it work super fast, some of them the pocket operators I mean the earlier ones were toys but the 33 and it's variations are actual full-blown samplers much more than a toy although the first generation in particular is exactly as you said but the 33 kind of stands alone in being an actual real useful sampler

Buy a Street Fighter Pocket operator then make a remix of the mortal kombat theme.

'Heavily influenced by the 8-bit Mega Drive sounds'
Wot?
I know right! Sweet 16-bit Nes sounds!! :P
confused childhood
it's sound a little new for me
The megadrive had bit audio but a 16 bit cpu.
@@brpadington most importantly the megadrive had fm synthesis (edit: understand analog but sample replay at a 9 bits resolution)
Would love to see a dedicated video on how to properly set up gear for beginners, especially entry-level synths!!
The Megaman 2 soundtrack is one of my favorite nes game soundtracks. Going to have to scoop up that one. 👍👍
Yes! Best game and soundtrack ever.
Come on Jack!! Luke from KORG and the OP SIX! Great review though as ALWAYS!
Thanks for sharing this video. This has been most helpful.

A factor reset gets the samples all back thought right?
Yes it does, and patterns as well
@@oranchung thank you.
Amazing video
I put a couple of albums on my channel, each one using a single PO, and there is a lot you can do with each one if you put your mind to it

Just got my Street Fighter PO :) great addition to my collection
Just ordered one myself, first ever. If you had to pick another for drums to go with it, what would you say is the most powerful/flexible?

check out how the Tonic is one of the best :)
Jack on the vids are always a winner 😁 can't wait for another Korg release so Luke FromKorg can revisit 😎
Can the pocket operator be plugged directly into a guitar amp?
Yes. As long as you have an adapter to change a 1\8” jack into a 1/4” jack.
Yes but turn both volumes way down. They have a super hot signal.
Dude, you barely showed the power of the megaman. The 3 track sequencer is a game changer, as well as the addition of scale transposition.

will i get a copy right strike if i use these sounds in a song? are they not copy protected?
Jack’s sounding super posh today!
this cable that comes out of the side of it, where should I connect for the po 128 to work?
pretty sure that's just a headphone jack. there is an internal speaker but you can also connect it to an external speaker/DAW.
Does a product exist like this for creating standard non-chiptune music?
Is the Megaman Pocket Operator bug fixed? I remember lots of people having problems with the 28 Robot
jack strikes me as a heavy coke taker
How can you hook up to a computer 💻? Thanks
buy an audio interface
Seriously, anyone who is anyone knows megaman is a thousand times more cool

Anyone who cracks the the top of a PO should be looking at Jail time... they just look wrong! just saying.. ;)
Where the F### is the Bluetooth????
Don't have people that aren't into the gear do reviews. It just makes it look bad.

Who cares even if it is a toy? Have you never paid a premium for toys? "Toy" should not be a perjorative.
