    Great video! Thanks for the excellent info. I just ordered two 2lb bags of Santa Barbara Chocolate’s Rainforest Dark Vegan Cacao Powder. I love that they post the heavy metal levels right on their website for each product. It’s time to start supporting companies that are transparent about these kinds of things.

    This was very informative! I've been using Navitas but will definitely be stopping that now. The only comment I have is that Viva Naturals' packaging does have the prop65 warning on it - do we know why, considering their COAs showed that they were under the limit? And if there are brands that do not have the prop65 warning, should that mean it doesn't exceed CA's levels?

    • @entertainiac
      @entertainiac 10 дней назад

      I wrote and asked them about this, here’s their reply;
      Our Cocoa / Cacao Powders are made from raw cacao processed at very low temperatures. This method helps us maintain the highest flavanol content possible.
      We understand the confusion between 'cacao' and 'cocoa.' Our product is cacao, processed minimally to preserve its natural health benefits. Under FDA US law it is labeled as cocoa powder as an ingredient (the US law does not recognize the colloquial terminology difference between how the cacao versus cocoa is made and handled).

    From Consumer Reports Testing...."The best cocoa powder overall was Navitas Organics Organic Cacao Powder, which reached 77 percent of CR’s lead limit and 17 percent of the cadmium limit. Navitas has a third party test all finished products for heavy metals to ensure low levels, according to the company website".

      @Sam Adams It says in the video that most of the heavy metals got introduced in their shipping process and major companies took the concentrations of heavy metals seriously from the 2017 As You Sow report. The best in the list contains so little that you would not need to worry much about how much you are using, based on California's guidelines that are more strict than FDA. That proves that just having cocoa is not necessarily guaranteed for dangerous contamination.

    I’ve been using Terrasoul since last year and most recently found mold in my dates, which I ingested and felt very sick from. I was very concerned since I’m exclusively nursing my baby. I contacted Terrasoul and they were very noncommittal. They did the bare minimum and were satisfied with Amazon providing me with a refund. They did nothing more. From their hands-off approach, I also got the impression that this happens often, as I got an unsigned and generic reply from customer service (only the last message was personalized and signed). Extremely disappointed with this brand and their handling of this very delicate situation. If I were the owner of this company, I’d be mortified with how my team handled this. When I tried sharing this with others on IG, my post was deleted and my personal account was blocked. Just awful all around!
