    Use the Standard Black Powder formula. Mill your composition damp (not wet) for 6 hours. The composition will come out of the mill either dry or almost dry. You could as an option keep it damp during the milling process. then remove the composition add enough water to make a ball that sticks to itself and granulate it over a screen. Do not worry about losing KNO3 (trivial amount), its been absorbed by your Air Float Charcoal and Sulfur during your milling process. Just wait until screen is dry to tap/rub what might stick of the Black Powder off of the screen. This is how I make really fast BP without a lot of fuss or worry.

    Good job! I do things a little differently....I use 70/30 isopropyl alcohol instead of water....make my "ball" which I compress between thick plastic sheets with a rubber hammer...take the resulting sheet and pass the material though a #10 coarse screen....dry the granules in the sun on a copper tray...then size via stacked screens. More ways than one to skin a cat.

    you can get much faster powder by milling it for a minimum of 3 hours. I personally do 4% dextrin and you can see the results on my channel titled "d1glitter bp only burst". I just used homemade silver maple charcoal and milled it for 4 hours. your granulation method is excellent. I really like the granule size and structure.

      Have you ever tried adding aluminum to the black powder? I’m thinking of trying it to see what it does.

      @@E85_STI I would just try a little bit of perc and benzoate to speed it up. aluminum and KNO3 react poorly and generate enough heat to spontaneously ignite. if you just get good charcoal it will make all the difference in the world. 3 hour milled bp with a proper mill rpm and charge will create some scary fast stuff. it burns with soft "thump" instead of whoosh.

      @@E85_STI addidng aluminum to BP wont make it burn faster, just burn hotter with more residue - I tried that. To make BP burn faster mill it 8h and then granulate it by pressing slightly wet with 12T hydraulic press (corned black powder) or, buy rice hulls/grass seeds and coat them.

    • @E85_STI

      Yes you can and the more you do it the faster it gets because you are breaking down the chems and making them mix better. When you wet the mixture it makes the nitrate absorb into the charcoal

    Would you recommend an 8 mesh screen for pressing into rockets or would a 12 mesh granual perform better?

    • @E85_STI
      @E85_STI  Год назад +2

      So I’ve always uses the 8 mesh granules for all my rockets but once you ram the powder it won’t matter the size as it’s rammed in increments. I make whistle rockets and that powder isn’t granulated though and I use a 100 mesh screen for those rockets.

      Oh nice and I’ve made sugar rockets and tested them with a scale to see the thrust and I added a little rust to see if it changed the power but I haven’t tried charcoal added before.

    • @E85_STI
      @E85_STI  Год назад +1

      @@treemaster2012 so I’m using a motor out of an old drill but if you wanted to get a motor off Amazon you could easily use a 550 motor like for an RC car but the speed controller I have keeps the speed down low enough to be able to allow the media to grind the powder because if you go to fast like 75rpm the media will start to stick to the wall and rotate with the powder and not crush it much. Now a lot of people will say they use 90rpm and that’s for the rock tumbler so mine is much more efficient and I can control the speed much better than the harbor freight rock tumbler. The battery I made is homemade 12 volts in a 3s 3p configuration and they are 18650 cells so on my channel I have a video I uploaded a week ago called Icy breeze update and I show the battery there.

    Why granulation is important?
    I mix them in coffee mixer. It give me ffffine powder.
    Why corned is important

    • @E85_STI
      @E85_STI  Год назад

      So as long as you don’t grind all three together you’ll be fine but the granulation process is important because when you wet the powder the water breaks down the nitrate and it absorbs it into the charcoal so that gives you a better mixture than just mixing them dry. Also once granulated the powder doesn’t dust as much when using it to press.
