This is the best walking to the volcano video !! Such sweeping scenery! Nice to have no talking or dramatic music. The rocky path, all the people in awe. Sunny day. I wonder when someone will set up a coffee shop there? Thanks so much. Please post more videos! From 🇨🇦.
Thank you Esme. Yes sometimes a scene is made more powerful with the absence of dramatic music 🙂
Did anyone run into Frodo, and Sam on the way up there? Lol. 😁
You brough me right there, where heaven and hell joint together with ice and fire, in the Iceland of my dreams, of my heart...
Thank you so much from Italy, land of Etna, Vesuvio, Stromboli and many others....can't wait for your next walk....
Grazie Grazie ☺️☺️
Thanks, nice to get some long shots so we see more of the environment and the people. Other channels are mostly short clips, so we just see the volcano, over and over again and never where the volcano is or how to get there.
It's nice to see the way there, and see that it's all cinder in that area.
Much appreciated.
Thank you John. I was hoping it would give people a better sense of scale and the environment. Takk fyrir ☺️
Thank you!!!! I knew someone would take a different perspective and show the topography of the area and how much the lava has covered. AWESOME and great for curious humans, this is how Mother Nature builds-creates-transforms!!!
Nature is the great creator and destroyer. Thank you Vee ☺️
Thank you from the United States! We have been watching the volcano from the start and your video gave us the best perspective on the terrain surrounding it and the flow into the valley. Super footage and very stable.
Thank you. Yes drone shots are very cool but seeing the people and the surrounding area gives perspective and scale. Thanks again I appreciate it.
Beats COVID stuff anyday.
@@IcelandHotSpots the people near by are in a dangerous area. You like them being in danger???
@Maximo Brandon plase know you are bing reported by many for your hacking shit.
Thank you for this mainly uncut video. Now I can imagine how the landscape really looks like and how crowded the hiking trail is. Subscribed and greeting from Germany!
Danke schön. It was probably 5 times as crowded on my way back.
Awesome. Nice Volcano Virtual Tour! Incredibly stable footage, even when running up the hill over bump-outs, etc... Rarely a sense of you walking over those lava rocks, but more like gliding! Even your shadow looked like gliding. Great Camera/Gimbal combo. The walk up there was informative. Really had a good sense of place. The sunlit shadows of the people on the black lava were kinda cool, too. Quite a first-time experience. Felt like I was there. Thanx!
Hi Bruce, thank you. I put a lot of effort into keeping the film stabilized so I really appreciate your kind words. I feel I did a good job when it feels like gliding. Takk fyrir.
Thanks for taking others like us in the United States on your journey! I love this!!!!!!❤️
Thank you. Always fun to have more travellers join ☺️
This is THE best video of the volcano I’ve seen, and I have seen a lot! The smoothness of the motion while you are walking is amazing and the clarity makes me feel like I’m walking with you. I love the perspective, I realize I only thought I had a good idea of what the valley looked like. Outstanding work, thank you!
Thank you so much for saying that. It makes my day 🙂
When I found out that a volcano woke up in Iceland, I immediately realized that I would see it on your channel!
Yes I was anxious to see it. It's amazing.
This is the BEST video of all that I have viewed over the the past week. You should do a doc on this trip.
Thank you, I really do appreciate that.
AMAZING!! Really amazing... the power of nature
Incredible power
Thank you so much for this video...it has given me a new perspective on just how massive the whole volcano and the lava has grown...many many thanks from Scotland🎇🌋💞🎇
My pleasure. It will be interesting to see how it evolves. Say hi to Christopher from me.
@@IcelandHotSpots I will do...
Fabulous video in many different aspects including quality, naturalness and raw honesty.
It really helps understanding what is there in Iceland from the comfort and safety of my house!
Thank you so much.
Hi Peter. Yes most often I go for a minimalistic approach. Thank you for the kind words 🙂
Awesome Video. The valley is vanishing. That is a lot of lava.
It's happening pretty fast. I wonder where it it will flow from there.
Thank you so much. What a brilliant video. Just like being there. The volcano put on a show for u breaking through as u arrived. The weather was good. The gods were smiling down for u. Well done.
The gods were smiling down on me this time yes and I was grateful. I wasn't so sure about the weather when I started driving to the volcano, it was snowing and the sky was cloudy. But it had started to clear up when I arrived and when I was finally up close to the volcano the sun had started shining. And then the volcano started ejecting even more lava. I was lucky this time yes :)
@@IcelandHotSpots He knew you were coming over. Haha.
Takk fyrir IcelandHotSpots, this is the walking video I was waiting for: perfect footage giving back the mood between amazing natural show and Icelandic picnic time :)
Takk Patrick yeah it felt a bit strange, dangerous volcano to the right but picnic time yo the left.
@@IcelandHotSpots People should always go by instinct...if you didn't feel like a situation belonged, it probably didn't belong.
Loved your video, thank you
Thanks 🙂
Thank you that we were allowed to accompany you to the volcano. Great video !
Thanks Kev 🙂
Best video!
You can see the stark landscape, not just the volcano itself! Thanks for showing us!
Thank you Emmerentia. Yeah it gives a sense of scale 🙂
Checking out all the cuties along the way, thanks for taken us along...beautiful nature
Awesome 😀👍🏼
Thanks 🙂
Thank you for this view. There are so many videos of the cones but this walk around the rim with real sounds is excellent. It gives a sense of the scale. Its almost as if we are there with you.
Thanks Cat. Yes I'm hoping the video feels immersive ☺️
Great footage showing us the surroundings of the volcano and the whole scenery with the people. Unbelievable that all this lava was spewed out within a week!
Thanks yeah that lava was only 5 days old.
What's unbelievable is more people didn't get hurt or die.
@@morgancalvi6675 The eruptions happen in an unpopulated area.
@@5mnz7fg really, are you going to argue after they closed down the area because it was dangerous? Go bother someone else. I was right all along, as were others. People broke bones and had heart attacks. Fissures opened up (3 now) which were no where near the volcano, quite large and they had to evacuate. The lava supposedly killed a camera. So please take your stupidity somewhere else.
@@morgancalvi6675 Take your pills. :-) I refered, of course, to the fact that there are no houses in the area of the eruption. Now they have closed the area because nobody knows wether or not further fissures will suddenly open up.
It has been an interesting eye-opener to go back in time😁👍🦘
You visited?
Great footage, it gives a better idea of the scale of the eruption that you can't get from the webcams. They are too far away. Getting up close shows the depth of the valley before the eruption. Thank you for sharing it. :)
Thank you Jim I'm glad you liked this perspective 🙂
I was just watching some of your amazing videos and I thought Mordor was a great description
Haha thanks, yes isn't it? It hasn't officially got a name yet so I guess I call it Mordor for now.
It is amazing. I will check for myself this summer in Iceland.
Thanks I hope you do ☺️
I really wish I could be there to see it!! Thanks for sharing!!
It's like nothing else. Thank you.
No you don't...it wwas a very dngerous place and people found out the hard way. Those who didn't get hurt were lucky. They quit etting people walk in.
Takk, fantastisk perspektiv!
Takk, I'm glad you liked this approach :)
That was some hike. The views were beautiful and yes it should be made into a documentary. B.B. from the U.S.A.
Thank you so much Bernice 🙂
It seems Mordor is a very popular place 😃
Haha yeah the economy has somewhat taken a hit after Frodo destroyed the ring. Mordor must innovate and adapt.
Sadly other fissures opened up and Mordor seems now long and forgotten. Loyalty is non existant.
Thank you from France, Just navigating in the area without commentary, you are pro ! Great footage.
Merci djavu. I apprectiate it. I wanted it to feel immersive :)
I can see we have the same hobbies 😍
Great walking tour! 😍
A very nice and beautiful city :)
Great shots you have my sub thank you! 👍👍😍
Yes Barad-dûr is such a lovely place don't you think?
Thanks for the great video
Takk fyrir 🙂
Thanks for the video, I was in Iceland in 2016 and I didn't get a chance to see any Northern Lights or any active volcanoes. Now thanks to you I can see and enjoy from my home that wonderful country and its geological wonders. Hellow from Valencia, Spain.
❣️💯❣️ So beautiful ❣️💯❣️
Thank you, I still remember the heat coming from it.
Amazing 👏
Thanks
That was really awesome...thanks for the ground tour. Rugged terrain ehh wow. Poor doggie feets. I'm gonna rewatch this one and cast it to the tv. Was trying to find the Live Cam camera's. Maybe a little further along the pathway tho ??? Thanks again.
Thanks Laura. Yes very rugged! The live cameras are more uphill, I didn't see any. Casting it to the tv is the best way to watch it :)
This is excellent film work. Well done. Great views and lovely slow panning, great steady cam and a cover on the mic so no wind growling - amateurs please note, to show things moving, don't move. Pan slowly otherwise the video can't keep up and the image will stutter. Cover the mic with something to avoid wind noise. Thanks for the upload. Look forward to others if you can get in close. Looks like it won't be long before the 2 flows connect and cut off the approach to the cones. Get in there quick if you are able. Desperately jealous that I can't travel to see it myself. Stay safe and don't fall over.
Thank you, makes me feel like an expert filmmaker haha. You're right, maybe I'll visit it again if I can. I'll try to stay safe but I've fallen plenty of times while filming haha.
Omg, your page deserves more subscribers, my friend, I really enjoy it.
Awesome thanks ☺️
How exciting that you caught that new spill on video! What an amazing eruption this is. Watching from Kansas City, Missouri in the United States of America 🇺🇸
Hi Charlene. Yes I got lucky seeing that spill. Now some more fissures are opening up so they have closed the area for now.
Wow that is quite a hike. Another video shows them hiking in snow and sliding and falling.
Yes got to be careful. It's easy to slip and injure oneself.
Iceland ended up not allowing people in after some were hurt. I don't think it ever should have been allowed. People didn't think.
Amazing!
Thanks!
Thank you for your time
Thanks for watching ☺️
@@IcelandHotSpots it amazing to watch i have been watching the live stream. It was better through your camera.
I'm honoured 🙂
Thank you really enjoyed your video .Kept looking for burns running down the hillsides ,you have a beautiful country
Thanks Ann 🙂
excellent
Thanks 🙂
The dog too...is present...
I wondered when you were going to hike there! It is made perfect subject for walking with stabilized video camera.
I was anxious to get there asap because it could last for months but also be finished next week. It was one of the most awesome things I have ever seen.
Wow amazing volcano. Have a great weekend. Stay safe. Watching from Germany.
Pov nature footage is the new branding
☺️
The most immediate thing you see, is how fragile Iceland's covering of moss and similar plant life actually is.
That's right, very fragile.
not just plant life , check out an eruption in 1973 houses an every thing got swallowed , the battle of the volcano it was , ah remember it on telly when ah was younger , an re watching it on you tube , quite a battle but they won in the end , aye !
I applaud you for giving this insight like I was there.
Thanks I appreciate it, ☺️
Like a walk in the park...
Except people don't normally get hurt or die in parks...unless it's in Central Park during mugging time. Realism kind of puts a different spin on things, doesn't it? They stopped allowing people in because it's dangerous.
Amazing! The climax at 23:15 though 👌
Just crazy, I was lucky to see it.
@@IcelandHotSpots we are jealous 😖
Haha well it's a double edged sword. A bad eruption can cause a lot of damage. But this one is nice for now 🙂
@@IcelandHotSpots true.
Awesome! New sub!
Thank you Peg I appreciate it 🙂
how did you manage to get such a smooth recording over such rocky landscape?
Basically walking like a weirdo while holding a gimbal.
Thank you!
Thank you Eiko ☺️
Jesus, look at ALL that lava.
Yes and the flow seems to be increasing.
@@IcelandHotSpots 😳
Stunning footage 👏👏. Im blown away at how tall the lava has become😲🤦♀️. Also has number 2 decided to have a hissy fit? 🤣
Yes it seems to be getting even more active than the first one. Thanks Leabee ☺️
@@IcelandHotSpots 🌞,
It's an amazing sight.
Is it a natural mystery? Is this a warning from nature?
Yes nature warns us we are not its masters.
Un excelente recorrido y me has brindado la sensación en primera persona. Que equipo de grabación usaste porque tiene muy buena estabilidad. Gracias
Gracias. Te lo agradezco. Utilizo un gopro hero7 y un gimbal zhiyun. Vea la descripción.
Is this route easier? I saw other youtubers filmed going up and down hill on loosely rocks trails.
How the lava filled up the valley! Thanks for the amazing footage!
This is the shortest route but I started filming about half way there when I had finished going up a steep path. That was the most difficult part but it isn't a big deal if you are in decent health. Yes the lava flow is steady and won't be long till it has filled up this area.
@@IcelandHotSpots Thank you for the response. I had a trip few years back in Iceland and would like to visit one more time. Too bad during the pandemic, we can't go anywhere. Thanks for taking us along!
You're welcome. I was hoping to visit Norway this year but we are putting it on hold. Pandemic is no fun.
What do you use to keep your shots so stable? I'm impressed!
I use a gopro hero 7 in combination with a ziyhun gimbal. I also walk in a special kind of way.
Uma aula de geologia, parabéns.
Geologia com adrenalina :)
The adventurers...
@ 3:08 that's a tough young man. Definitely younger than 5 years old. Can't recall if I've read how long the hike is to the Volcano. I'm trying to remember if I read or heard it's 5K which would be around 3 miles in the US. Could anyone please validate? The Icelandic landscape is very interesting. Thank you, for sharing & new sub!
Thanks Mickey. When I visited it was about 5k yes. Perhaps a bit tough for a 5 year old, also kids are closer to more concentrated gas if there is any.
What a camera! You guys are lucky to have this in your back yard!
It's so easy to see. Yes I'd say we're lucky, hopefully it stays that way.
From the live-stream videos, the volcano looks relatively low in the valley and the lava field flat - presumably shooting from near the top of a mountain. Here the volcano dominates the landscape and there are steep slopes in the lava field. Here we see how the eruption is touching the Icelandic people with just the sights and sounds of the moment. Can you believe NASA even adds music to some of its videos from Perseverance . . .
Yes a volcano is dramatic enough, doesn't need heavy editing. Just look and listen ☺️
Btw have you heard the audio clips from Perseverance? Wind on Mars. Amazing.
Nice job, great walk! The view at about 18:30 is awe-inspiring. I noticed the time of this walk surprisingly was in the afternoon. It seems like your walk was forever; how far would you estimate from the beginning until you turned around? Isn't the lava just so beautiful? I haven't finished watching yet... Makes me miss living on an island even more. Takk fyrir !!
I could hardly turn back, I wanted to stay much longer. I stayed about an hour after filming and then slowly headed back. I turned my head 10 times on the way back, you never know if you get to see something like that again. All in all I spent about 4-5 hours driving and walking to the volcano, filming and getting back.
Styler
:)
It can erupt at any time right?..i think id be too afraid to go after that NZ tragedy..nice video
It's somewhat unpredictable so caution is always adviced. A fissure can open up beneath your feet without much notice. It's a very small chance but not impossible.
So far...a long long way...
It's a nice hike. A bit steep in parts.
How is your filming so smooth and steady? Usually when people are walking and filming at the same time their footage is all up and down with each footstep. How long does it take to walk from the nearest town? Is it Reykjavik? Do most people do the journey just once, or several times?
Hi Mya. The closest town is Grindavík. Some 15 minutes driving. I have been only once but some have gone several times and some don't go at all. I'd like to visit again sometime. I use a hypersmooth feature on a gopro hero 7 mounted on a zhiyun gimbal. I also try to walk very steady. Thanks for the questions.
@@IcelandHotSpots Ah thankyou for answering. Just some things l was wondering about. My goodness that's a long walk. Too much for some maybe. Thanks for all the info, and for your filming. It's very clear and very good. It gives us all a better idea of what the hike is like to get there, the landscape etc. I watch the volcano videos before l go to sleep at night, it's a wonder l'm not dreaming about them! Greetings from Ireland. 😄
BoB finally comes into view.
Bob is a bit shy sometimes.
When that lava field cools down someone will build an Aldi on it
Definitely is lacking one of those isn't it?
Bölgeye turist akını başlamış.demek ki yerleşim yerine çok yakın bir volkan.
Evet. Birçok insan onu görmekten heyecan duyuyor.
"one does not simply walk into Mordor"
Hi:) can i ask you a question, how far or long was the walk out to the Eruptions ?
Hi. I took me just about 1 hour with brisk walking.
wow, hasn't the landscape changed now. Is that the first fissure ?
Yes this is just 10 days in and it has changed a lot. There are now concerns abour the lava flowing over the nearby roads.
@@IcelandHotSpots they have done an awesome job with the berms guiding the flow to Natthagi valley but it does look like it go on for years
Once there was a time when life was simpler. There was only one volcano.
Haha yeah it's changing fast
I am SO happy they stopped this. Not because I'm a jerk...but because I knew people were getting hurt. I think one of the mods blocked me because I said something about search and rescue making paths in and putting people in danger. I'm with search and rescue, and putting people in harm's way is something I'd NEVER condone...and people were getting hurt because the walk in is a tough one...after all, they are walking on older lava...but I knew something could happen to hurt visitors...and apparently, it did. It seems the LAST thing Iceland would want is to hurt the tourism they so love. Yes people are excited about the volcanoes...but goodness stay safe.
Absolutely safety should be a top priority.
@@IcelandHotSpots I know they were excited...but common sense did not prevail. What was upsetting was, search and rescue was getting burned out and proceeds from all of the first volcano went to them, and I ended up not being able to get anything because of the principal. Some hikers did get seriously injured and I just didn't want to be a part of letting others get hurt.
Pode trazer perigo para o país?
É próximo a Reykjavic ?
Tem pesquisadores próximo?
É perto de Reykjavík. Dirigindo por 1 hora. Não é perigoso agora. Os pesquisadores estão observando. Pode ser perigoso mais tarde. Ninguém sabe.
Well titled
Haha thanks
The Land (County) of Ice and Fire
Indeed it is.
"Destroy him, Frodo! Throw him in the fire!"
Why didn't they just fly drones into Mordor?

Hidden in the depths...
If everyone who took trail moved two rocks to the sideI bet you could get wheelchair access in a week.
Well better to take a plane or something the walk up on that mountain is very steep.
Why is the smoke blue.
I guess it comes from high concentrations of sulphur and carbon and other volcanic substances. But I'm not a geologist, I could be wrong.

Seeing Ice lands Rocky soil, Its incredible anybody can live there. Import more compost and make some soil for ''gods'' sake meaning for your sake. Sons Odin
Hi Martin. I understand what you are saying, it seems so barren. But tell you what, Icelandic soil is actually very nutrient dense because of volcanic minerals. A thousand years ago the lowlands were covered in forests. There are some reforestation efforts going on now.
how long is the hike one way?
About 1-2 hours depending on the weather, your physical condition and your gear.
@@IcelandHotSpots cool, do you start near Blue Lagoon or is there a closer point where you can park the car?
There is a much closer point. You are probably 6 hours going from the blue lagoon and back. Now go through Grindavík towards Þorlákshöfn. You won't miss the line of cars on the road.
If Mordor is part of Iceland, does that mean that Icelanders are Orcs?
We are definately hobbits
Social Distancing out of the window then and no masks!!
I was wearing one and you can actually hear a guy early on in the video ridiculing me for wearing it.
Definitely by helicopter ! HaHaHa
Haha not much for hiking?
Looks difficult, rocky, sometimes slippery. If you can, then helicopter; why take the chance of injury on a lot of rough terrain ? Besides with a view from above, one probably gets to see the overall dimensions. So, you get two for one......Either way, you guys and gals are some fortunate people to be able to behold this awesome wonder with your whole body. Because, I would guess all the senses are activated....Nice !
Thank you. I sure wouldn't say no to a helicopter tour.
