There was a big fire today in Meadowmere Park, it took out three houses. You passed by them at the 14:49 mark. If strange little towns is your thing, check out South Floral Park between Elmont and the village of Floral Park. It's small and walkable, it's its own village, and kind of forgotten by the towns around it.
Man, you brought back memories from a long time ago. I used to work in the five towns plaza, 24 years ago, in a furniture store, and I used to go to IHOP for lunch. I remember how I had to ride in vans, because they were cheaper and faster than buses, from Sutphin Blvd, to Five Towns Plaza. I left NY 14 years ago....I miss it sometimes. Great video friend.
My cousins live here and my mom grew up in this little area, this neighborhood is small so everyone sorta knows each other. I have a lot of memories of running around here and playing cops and robbers with my cousins at night. Thought I should share since I found this video pretty randomly.
Interesting area. Regarding complaints about airplane noise, I look at it this way -- if you move into a neighborhood near an airport AFTER the airport was built, it is your choice to put up with the noise, so you have no reason to complain.
They were only hooked up to the sewer system around 2010, for decades their waste went directly into the Creek & Jamaica Bay. Certainly not a spot for wild swimming! I actually love the feel of this neighborhood ♥️

The Lowe’s used to be Pergamens, Wholesale Liquidators was in that shopping center too. Across the way was a shopping center with the store TSS, and a fruit store called Big Banana.
Imagine how wet it is during the thaw!
I've read that snow removal gets passed up here too because of the neighborhood's location
Yikes! I lived in Canada for a bit and the thaw was brutal and a brown, sandy, soggy mess! I’m from L.A. so I nearly needed hospitalization.
Been to that IHOP and actually it's one of the best IHOP restaurants in NYC
Good to know!
Really?? I have driven past that IHOP for decades but have always been skeptical about going there since neighborhood looks so questionable . . .
@@pammypoo55 From my experience, the staff was very hospitable & friendly. Some seats has a waterfront view of the water. The food is very good. I ate in many IHOP restaurants in NYC that it ranks in the top three IHOP restaurants I been to. Sometimes looks are deceiving but my friends & I felt comfortable eating in there.
Lol I like the one on 157th street and Northern Blvd. The service there is very good
@@ryanflores2489 that's the best IHOP
I used to go the the DMV in that area.
Did you get a new Camera? The quality is awesome. Thanks for posting always. Best wishes.
Thanks, it's been the same camera I've been using for the past month.
