AMAZING LOCATION AND STORY FOR HISTORY , GREAT THAT EE GETS TO GO AND SEE IT FIRST HAND AND TOUCH IT TOO , GREAT JOB DAD FOR THE MEMORIES YOUR CREATING FOR THE KIDDOS AND FOR US TOO , TAKE CARE MY FRIEND
I can relate to touching history. When I went to Rome and stood in the colosseeum I touched it and wondered what it was like to be a gladiator or a slave and a person watching. It was amazing to think of history this way. Not many people think like this my friend I was with had no interest in imagining the past. I do this whare ever I go. I wouloud love to go to Germany and see the things you do. Now days I'm house bound so youtude is my only way to see history you are my main channel. I wish I could visit the places you do. Thank you for taking me with you with your video
Great job EE. Amazing research skills there. Thank you both for taking us here, wherever "here" is. LOL. Great to hear about historical battles that you don't read about.
Thank you EE for finding this amazing location, and bringing this (almost) forgotten slice of History to us. Much has been written about the major battles of WW2, but it's stories like this, of determined defenders, and desperate invaders, that need to be seen, and heard. From the initial attack on the buses, to the loss of comrades, to the icy river, this battle would have shaken many "victorious" German troops to the core. The loss of life trying to cross that imposing barrier must have been terrible. And thank you both, for showing us that stunning shooting gallery up on the hillside. That indeed would have been an imposing obstacle to any attackers. Always so good to see such History still in place, still maintaining it's original mission. Absolutely enjoying the "Touching History" tour, so thank you again, EE, for this brilliant adventure. Cheers to you both! Stay Safe!
Yes this place has really got such a interesting story and we loved to see that there. Must have been intense and poor German soldiers getting into that icy river. Thanks my friend :)
You did it once again, EE. That was an extremely interesting place you researched and shared. One can almost imagine being there and personally experiencing the strife and struggles that went down with the way you vividly explain events HH. Thanks for taking us inside the rifle gallery. It was interesting to see some moving parts still in working order and the original oven from the 1900s. Well equipped. Thanks, EE & HH. ❤
EE, you can feel very proud pf ypurself for the hard work and research that you put into this explore. What an amazing untold story. The strength of that river is awesome, and it must have been terrible to get catch in it. That rifle galley, again, an awesome site that you have taken us too. Thank you both for sharing this with us all. Stay safe and well my friends
EE did so well with that one and i am impressed with the location and the story there and not to mention the fantastic feature inside the mountain. Just so great so see and learn from. YOU my friend helped out to make that come true and we thank you for that :)
Another location that is both beautiful and has a battle story to tell. There was a tremendous amount of work to carve the rock out for the fortifications and I bet it did not happen quickly. The defenders of the bridge really had an advantage over the attacking Germans. There must have been quite a loss of life to get across the span under the fire of the machine guns from the positions you showed us. Another great location EE! The Touching History Tour is outstanding! Thanks for the history lesson! Stay safe and stay well!!
Yes Donald what a fantastic lace and story and the feature inside the mountain made it so much worth it. EE did so well and that is thanks to YOUR incredible support my friend and we THANK YOU for that :)
i wanna adress this message specialy to eagle eye's. awesome how you beginning with thnx to peeps and i have to admit you havethought out a beautiful learningcurve and what a great idea to do that roadtrip allong with youre dad. i love youre vid's always look at them and i hope there's alot more comming, keep on going more more more ;) greetings from the Netherlands
Well done, Eagle eyes. You are carrying the historic gauntlet for your generation and those that follow behind you. Incredible video and more stunning locations with a story
thank you for your time and effort put into each video, this one I can't help but think of the noise level inside the mountain during the battles it must have been deafening for all concerned . thank you again
Well done to EE for researching this location. The rifle range is an extraordinary piece of engineering and I wonder how long it took to blast out parts of the mountainside in order to create this defensive position. Looking forward to the next episode - and beware of trains!
What a great location i cant imagine what it would been like on the bridge during the fire fight . Great video and good work cant wait for the next one.
Another great find by EE. Well done young man, great research. That river has some serious under currents, the bottom has got to be jagged. HH take a look at 8:40, was waiting for something to surface. From the opposite side the rifle gallery is barely noticeable. That was well thought out and designed. Great stone cutting, must have been mountain dwarfs that did the work. Great video job HH. EE good site and information. Thank you for this. Stay safe and well out there.
Great job EE on the research and find. Shows the dedication, appreciation, and understanding you have for what your father has shown/taught you over the years.
Thanks! The casualty count must have been high for the Germans with their disadvantage. Be sure to tell EE I think he is doing a fantastic job with his work. The results are so worth it. Stay safe my friends. 😊
Amazing location and story telling thank you both and amazing research from ee. Glad you mentioned stand by me with that bridge it really does remind you of that from that amazing film.
EE you did a fantastic job finding and researching this location, it has a great back story. Also you are doing an amazing job putting together your Touching History Tour. Can't wait to see the next location. Thank you for the history lesson. Take care and stay safe out there my friends.
Thank you very much and i agree Allen , EE did so well there and i am very proud of him. ore to come from the THT and we thank you for your incredible support my friend :)
Okay kudos on the touching history tour, I'm left to imagine what area(s) this might have occurred in. East, west, north, south. Imagine the position of the rifle gallery took alot time to dig out, and considering you had suggested that it may have been built to face another, only leaves me with more uncertainty. Now i'm thinking about some poor 'slob' who's gotta haul a heck of a lot of equipment, by pack mule, up a side of a mountain, with a ravine down below into hazardous water. Just to be able to 'hollow' out a side of a mountain, you showed us the jagged edges of the interior of those caves. How are the lungs now after those hikes?
Great video as always thank EE your so good at doing this you really are a big part of this fantastic channel and thank you HH for all your hard work to bring all to us much appreciated my friends 😎😎😎
This is such an interesting story EE, well done on bringing us such a special part of WW2 History. A local army was able to hold off the German advance until the Germans sent a huge backup! That rifle range cut out of the mountain side is simply spectacular. And it was built 50+ years before the Germans arrived. ❤
I really enjoyed your video. Inside the shooting gallery the third step up that was tilted forward, made me think. I'll bet that was for if you need to raise up on the back of the weapon at your shoulder to depress the front of the weapon for lower targets, it enables you to do that by just pushing up on your back foot without having to extend your foot and ankle as much as you would on a flat step. Would work well on a light to medium machine gun that was fired against the shoulder as well as a rifle.
Great find Eagle Eyes! As interesting as the battle for the bridge was that mountainside fighting position was absolutely fascinating. The builders did a great job making it self-sufficient. They really did have a commanding view of the bridge from there. Definitely would have made a major difference if the Germans had attacked from that way. Will be looking forward to the next video, looks fascinating.
Yes that feature inside the mountain was totally awesome to see and learn from. Loved it and thanks for your incredible support my friend and more to come :)
What an incredible story! It's so very interesting to learn about the history of an area such as this. To imagine the unfortunate soldiers who lost their lives to that icy current must have been horrific. EE you have done awesomely once again. This would've been another untold story about WW2 but you saved it. Great job! The rifle gallery must've been so much hard work considering how extensive it was. Amazing place. Thank youoth for sharing. Take care and stay safe. 💖💯
Eagle Eyes you are an amazing young man. The research you have done is outstanding. Each stop makes me more excited for the next. I find this story fascinating. If you can't beat them, drown them. I don't know but that's pretty clever to me. Imagine the soldiers surprise and dismay when they saw that there was a rush of water coming at them. The poor or lucky(depending on how you look at it) bus driver and what he went through to survive. The rifle installation and the stories those walls could tell. Captivating!! P.S. History Hunter, I like the reference to that movie, good choice.
Great job EE beautiful location...what country was this? I have relatives in Norway and there's lots of interesting places there and this reminded me of my heritage
What a gorgeous area. And to think that that one bridge held so much importance. What a horrible death for the German soldiers that feel and drowned in the frigid waters. 😢 Phew it is a good thing the bus driver was able to find cover tucked in the other side. I bet very disappointing for the one soldier on the other side failing to blow up the bridge and prevent the strong German force from crossing. I alwyas enjoy the humanistic stories behind these historical events HH. Great research EE. What a trek up to the rifle gallery. Wow, they had everything toilets, etc. Very self sufficient. I agree HH, I don't think that the Germans would have much success crossing that bridge from there without major casualities. Excellent defensive positioning. Thank you EE for letting us tag along. Excited about what you have next for us. 💞
EE that was such a beautiful location!! I'm so glad you took us there. That mountain shooting "gallery" was very unique. I'm surprised it is there and open for the public to view. So glad it is though. I'm surprised that the local army,at the time, didn't set some troops in that mountain to rain fire down onto the Germans below and when they were trying to cross the bridge. How I would love to live around there, next to that river, very nice!!! The sneak peek for the next video looks very intriguing indeed. RR bridge, machine gun bunker??? Hmmmmm. You have my interest now lol. Thanks for sharing this. Loved it EE!!!!!!! Stay safe, well and until then, smile.......................
We loved this place Colleen and it has such strong history. The mountain feature was just so great to see and very glad that EE found that wonderful place. Thanks :)
Do I understand your story, the Germans did not expect a lot of resistance at that crossing? Imagine a convoy of trucks and troops crossing that narrow bridge and the bottle-neck created when hot bullets start arriving. What a discovery, EE! A place where you can almost say, if you aren't looking you won't see it.
A slightly different direction on this video to normal - and I like it! There must have been hours of investigation on this by EE. Thanks, as usual from the UK to EE and HH!
I’ve said this before, I don’t think there is any place in Europe that the Germans didn’t leave some sort of footprint. You both do a lot of research to bring us these forgotten and unusual locations. Hearing the history of the bridge and then the rifle gallery is something we won’t see anywhere else. Sad to think so many lost their lives to take or defend this bridge. I couldn’t imagine being a German soldier crossing the river when the floodgates opened. It had to be horrifying. Then being on one of those buses when they were attacked. Very smart of the driver to take shelter beside the engine. Great stories and great history as always.
Thanks for all your great content. Would you be able to fo a video on Wallendorf? There is an old bridge that apparently was destroyed, there is still a bunker on the German side. And also there are remains of bunkers on the mountain side that we're parr of the Siegfried line that Hitler apparently inspected.
It would have been a whole different story if the Germans had come the other way - thet fortress would have held them back for days even permanently? great find EE. I must get to Norway to explore and touch the past history.

Hi HH & EE,
It is very special that the bridge survived the war unscathed.
Again a lot of information about history.
Great location to visit and glad we could share that with you :)

Good afternoon from Syracuse NY USA brother and everyone else thank you for sharing your adventures in history
Hello my friend and so great to see you here Earl. Greetings from us and hope you have a great day :)
Hi my friends thank you for sharing your videos of your adventures and I am having a outstanding day my friends
Such a great place and thanks for having a great heritage :)
Who's that Kid that keeps getting in the way of the shot and not moving..Haaaaaa Wow! Eagle Eyes is getting tall
Yes EE is always in front storming off to find history and so glad for that. Thanks :)

They did not i read a report written by a German officer and they did not expect that at all. Great explore and more to come :)

You never know where we will be next. Thanks for watching.
I would love to know where this bridge is located
Thanks for watching.
Battle of Midtskogen
Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the video guys. Where is the location?
Locations are never given and thanks for watching.
oh ok.@@WW2HistoryHunter
I suppose the dam master resigned immediately thereafter. A convoy should always have reconnaissance out in front.
Well that could be the case :) Thanks
I think the German soldiers must have good mining skills those tunnels are still in great shape wonderful adventure
They sure did build a lot of exciting stuff. Thanks my friend :)
Germans were -paratroopers and retreated when commander was killed.
Thanks.
Cool stuff once again EE & HH, however if your going to “ touch” history, you should take off one of your mittens 👍🏻👍🏻💙💛
Could you send us your address in our mail my friend we have something for you. Thanks and greetings from us.
cool
Thank you :)
My question is, who was the other army firing on the Germans??
Well sometimes we tell sometimes we dont. Thanks for watching.
Where is this exactly
Locations are never given. Thanks.
Hi
Hello my friend :)
It would have been a whole different story if the Germans had come the other way - thet fortress would have held them back for days even permanently? great find EE. I must get to Norway to explore and touch the past history.
Could be for sure. Thanks for watching my friend :)

Could be. Thanks.
