I would tell my son the truth. Mother has low self esteem and in her mind her cooking made her great. When the son began cooking as well as her she lost her only skill. She’s jealous, it’s not the son’s fault it’s her fault. Lay off the cooking and she’ll get back to normal. Her great cooking is something she won’t give up.
