It's important to remember that even if people have ulterior motives and their advice is bias, that doesn't actually inherently make them wrong, someone can have ulterior motives, and give out bias advice and that advice still also be what's best for you. Besides he's receiving plenty of outside advice from unbiased sources telling him exactly the same things and none of them want to date him.
