Can't believe the amount of thoughtful content you guys manage to get out to us eager fans each week. Appreciate you both so much. You've been getting me through long days (and nights) of animating. Thank you, Ed and Jim! Stay well!
This method of gradual progress through each page, with a commentary of such rich and informative wealth is an absolute joy. The enthusiasm you both express is as inspiring as the artwork (as far as motivation to create) thank you so much for your wonderful work.
JEEZ! What a delight - THANK YOU!!! I live in Cape Town, and at the moment it's very hard to get books. I have a couple of tiny Chris Ware books that I found in second hand shops, but to see inside this Date Book is a dream come true. Thank you guys! Thank you, Chris Ware! (Oh, and did I say how sweet it is to hear the two of you talking? You both wear your deep knowledge lightly, and with a disarming gentleness.)
‘Oog & Blik’ is indeed a Dutch publisher. The name is a Dutch pun: eye and look or eye and tin (literal), but ‘ogenblik’ (pronounced the same way) means a (split) second or short moment. Sort of like: within the blink of an eye..
I remember when this book came out thinking it was the most beautifully designed book I'd ever seen. I think comics publication design has caught up quite a bit, but it's still gorgeous - and the insides ain't bad, either. Now, when are we getting volume 3?!?
I was at UT Austin working on my undergrad degree in the mid 1980s when Chris Ware was there. I read his comics in "The Daily Texan" student newspaper every time it came out. It was obvious that he was a highly talented artist with a very deep understanding of comics as an art form, even then. I'm really glad he went on to even greater success over the years.
This is pretty stunning stuff! To be able to see the unmitigated truth and process behind Chris Ware is really rad and inspiring, and to have Jim and Ed take us through this is a privilege. I just ordered a copy, along with Lynda Barry's Making Comics and Mooncop by Tom Gauld, because Drawn and Quarterly has the cool stuff. Can't wait to see you guys do Vol. 2. Thank you!

Hands down one of my favorite youtube channels. Every upload is an education and a ton of fun! Thanks guys.
No doubt, love hearing the perspective from industry professionals.
This channel is like a comic book university, I learn a lot everyday! Long live UCK, University of Cartoonist Kayfabing.
For real! Kayfabe credit hours!

God damn, what a beast. I've been slowly working my way through Monograph. Looks like I'll have to pick this one up next.

My favorite cartoonist ever. His every book is like a masterpiece.

@@Emma-R awesome, you got me hype to finally read it!
It was called Newcity in Chicago.
Can you guys please make a video on the absolute edition of Jack Kirby’s Fourth World?
Hmmmm.... I wonder if Ware’s designs were swiped for the “Minions” character designs in the “Dispicable Me” film series.
Chris Ware’s style is more straight lines and seems like a more refined R Crumb but I still prefer Crumbs relaxed sloppy line style
i have this book it is amazing
amazing
thanks
y'all this is siq, but I bet the Kim Jung go sketchbooks are just as sick
Pity Chris and D&Q didn't published more volumes...
