@@Jasonoid The ac battery capacity is a little on the low side for ac as well as the energy it uses while the ac inverter is on standby. P.S. Thank you for being one of the honest reviewers out there that allows people to post things that they don't care for :)
Great review Jason! I liked seeing all the gadgets you can run with this on DC - that RC truck looks awesome. You got better DC capacity than me, nice. Funny how much louder your fans were tho. I agree on the score, this thing is very solid. A wireless charger would make it a 10 for me.
10th scale crawlers are pretty fun. They are SUPER realistic and fun to drive. For people like me who don't have money for real rock crawling rig, it's a fun alternative haha
I always say I’m very happy with my ecoflow 😊👍🏼 customer service is a huge deal to me. I was impressed by their booth @ CES this year. Great Review Jason 👍🏼👍🏼
Interesting new offering from EcoFlow. I would personally like to see a more weatherproof “Delta 2 Mini” with LiFePO4 for camping, tailgating, etc. Love my Delta 2s but something slightly smaller, beefier/more durable, and more weatherproof would be awesome. Another great review Jason! Cheers!
Great Review! I really appreciate all the time and effort you put into to this review and video! Thanks for showing all the pros and cons, functions and the grading sheet. I have been waiting for this one to be released! Ordered! This Ecoflow will fit the bill and I am excited to get it! I have been awaiting the 800W inverter because it will run a 3 quart InstantPot (without having to go into a boost mode) and many of my other camp kitchen appliances. I love how the app works and their customer service. I also love the weight and form factor. FYI, When I ordered, they have a promo statement that it comes with a backpack if ordered between today and April 9. I am not sure if the backpack will fit the unit, but either way it looks cool. Thanks again for all the time and effort you put into this video and all your videos! Katy 🌸
You're a good instructor. I just found your channel, and in a couple of days, I've gone from knowing nothing about this stuff, to knowing just enough to be dangerous. You keep teaching, and I'll keep learning.
Thank you so much for your reviews. Where I'm from, South Africa, we have major power outages (grid load shedding) so Ecoflow products have because very popular of late. Your review of this brand is very informative, thank you...
Love your reviews and the spreadsheet. Helped me immensely in deciding which power station to get. In the end, this one is most suited to my immediate needs.
@@Jasonoid Yep. I was looking for LFP with an app and ideally >500wH. Size and weight is a major concern for my use case, as is passthrough capability. The Delta 2 was too big and heavy for me. I was overwhelmed by the dizzing array of models. Your channel was instrumental in giving me confidence to press the buy button and benefit from the Prime Day sale. The sale officially starts tomorrow, but it seems the price was already available. Confusing.
In this video, you grade the EcoFlow River 2 Pro a 9.5 on a scale of 1-10, but on your Power System Grading sheet, you give this same product a 6.5 out of 10 and grade it a D. Why the difference? between your video review and the grading sheet?
The grading system was updated and the rules are now more strict. All the scores were adjusted accordingly. As technology and features advance each year, changes are needed to the scoring system and it's requirements. There is no way for me to update previous videos. I apologize for the confusion.
Great video Jason! Glad to see your results are very similar to mine. Interesting on the noise for the radio boys. They may have to pass on this unit. But over for everyone else this is a solid unit 💪🏼👍🏼
What up Doe!? Very nice upgrade over the first gen river power stations. I think it has the best options of any midrange station this year and would be a perfect camping companion. Great job Dr J' Can't wait for the next power station/ solar panel giveaway 😁
I use the idea of ice cube trays to save energy for my fridge... I have a larger container I make freeze in the freezer to me an ice block ..unplug the fridge and put that block in the "non freezer" part of the fridge ... So it keeps things cool for about 12hrs but I'd like a station like this for when I need to plug back in the fridge to make another ice block overnight Cause then I could use solar to charge it up and further cut down my electric bill
I really enjoy your videos and I got a kick out your comment about sleeping in luxury on an air mattress. You sure aren't spoiled young fella. I love camping too.
I live on Maui, we can't get these things shipped here. So I called EcoFlow and they let me know about a dealer on O'ahu called Battery Bob. They were expecting this model soon so I left my information and waited. Today I got the call, paid and they will ship it to my island on the interisland barge. Watching the current RUclips reviews it wasn't too difficult to figure out that this model will serve my needs well.
I appreciate your time and effort in reviewing River 2 Pro in detail and comparing it to Bluetti EB70, which I have. I also like your worksheet and appreciate your taking the time to put it up. It helps a lot with buying decisions. Good work. Also, will you review BODEGA 12 Volt Car Refrigerator TWW75 vs ICECO VL75ProD 75L 12V Portable fridge in future? Thanks
I've reviewed an identical model to the Bodega TWW75, with the "Newair" brand on it. You can see the video here: ruclips.net/video/QMa1Ceel-eU/видео.html
I wish I'd waited for this one! I'm sorely tempted anyway, although I think if I get another power station, it should be a bigger one, up in the 2kWH range. Going over your spreadsheet, looks like Bluetti may be the way to go; need to check charging input voltage (want to be able to use single panels or parallel, as I have other power stations that are limited to 30V).
Bluetti is making good changes to their customer support so you should be confident in going that route. Big changes since the last couple months! You'll have to let me know which one you end up going with. This video will break down all the charging specs: ruclips.net/video/viqfp5YYunw/видео.html
@@Jasonoid It must be one hell of a turnaround in their customer service behaviour considering on the 23.02.2023 Bluetti knowingly and deliberately lied to PayPal on the 9th day of my PayPal dispute claiming they had shipped my power station to prevent me getting my €1900 back for an AC200 Max which they had failed and refused to ship to me for 3 months after I paid them. PayPal ruled in my favour after the indisputable evidence was presented to them. Bluetti make a lot of claims re improving their customer service but actions speak louder than words and these are their actions.
Great and thorough review as always. This would have been a hands down winner, except that you reviewed the new Pecron E600LFP first, which has the 1200 watt inverter that can run a home refrigerator and has 400 watts of solar input and it's intro price was $399! (now $499☹). While the River 2 is definitely a great power station, I'm surprised that EcoFlow chose to abandon the philosophy of the Delta 2 (arguably the best power station in it's class) and go with the age old inverter size about the same as the battery size. Even at $499, I still think the Pecron has better features and performance when compared to the River 2 Pro and the EB70S.
I think with coupon codes you can still get the Pecron E600 around $300 so still a great price for a budget model! The E600 does offer some advantages with 400 watts of solar and a larger inverter but it all depends on what someone is looking for in a power station. I did have quite a few complaints from viewers about their E600 units having issues. Maybe a reliability issue there? If you want a solid warranty and customer service EcoFlow provides a better guarantee than Pecron. The River 2 pro also has more premium features like fast AC charging (no bulky power bricks), smart app, and bidirectional USBc. I'm glad there are multiple options available so anyone can purchase what they want... plus competition only brings better performance int the future.
@@Jasonoid May be EcoFlow provides a better guarantee however customer service is the worst even though you state its excellent . Problem is when you get these items to test for free you are already biased . Try doing a video in contacting ecoflow customer service . Now that would make a great video. Anyways would suggest to people spending their hard earned cash to try calling their customer service number before buying and see if they even answer the phone.
@@jamesmcguire9243 I talked about my experiences with Ecoflow support on my livestreams. I've actually dealt with Ecoflow customer support 3 times outside of my RUclips account by reaching out in the app or over the phone. I had one unit break (River Pro), it was replaced in 2 weeks without question. The other two times it was about certain issues that were fixed with firmware updated. Never mentioned who I was or my RUclips account.
"What did you think of the EcoFlow River 2 Pro?!" Couldn't tell ya. Was going to buy one, but they had been sold out of them for months! Just checked and looks like they finally have them back in stock though.
@@deanwhittle2669 Gotcha. Their website just said "sold out" for months in the 'add to cart' button when you go try to purchase one. It never gave any indication that they hadn't been released yet. Didn't even offer a preorder option.
Hi Im looking at the river 2 pro but had a question. Did you notice a drain when not connected to tge app. A friend's was down 80% after 8 weeks with nothing plugged in. I suspect tge drain is due to looking for a connectio / seeming units. Thanks
Been running that fan on my 13v LFP batteries for about 5 years now with no issues. It probably has a 12v fan motor inside thay they are 'undervolting' down to 9 volts. Don't let the ignorance of others stop a good purchase LOL
very nice dc efficiency and good price for a medium sized power station. didn't see you test this on your ac fridge like usual, but you mentioned it would power a fridge at the end, did it work for your full size fridge you usually test your larger power stations on? or is this only for the small dc fridges?
Sorry for the confusion. Camping 12v fridge will work great, not full size fridge. This won't start the compressor on either of my full size fridges. That requires over 1500 watts startup wattage. No small power station I have tested will pass that test so far.
EcoFlow really should tell its reviews to spread out the videos pimping this as "the best". I have seen no less than 8 of you RUclipsrs release videos this morning touting this as the best unit available. It really makes me doubt the validity of your (all of you, not just Jasonoid) claims. :(
Ecoflow tells us when to launch the product reviews, we cant chose the date and time. I'm not a fan of scheduled product launches since all the videos come out at once. In my reviews I have a grading system to give that "best claim" actual backing, it's not just opinion. I think it's a great model, it scored 9.5 out of 10 points which is really good.
Do you have an opinion on the Montez X1000? The pro for me was the shock/water resistance for camping in a teardrop and it seemed to have some more DC options. But this looks very good. Thanks.
The Montek is a great power station. I reviewed the NCM version awhile ago on the channel. I'd say that one is in a different category since it's about $400 more money. 1000w inverter, 300 watts from solar. Montek review here: ruclips.net/video/emQZvo41J38/видео.html The River 2 pro is still a smaller model with a smaller price tag.
It does support Ecoflow's "EPS mode" , which is pretty slow at 30ms swap over time. It can't be used with any computers so I don't really tout it as a feature.
I purchased this power station a week ago and it does what I need it to do. You didn't mention the EX Boost 1600W which allows you to run items like a blender, coffee maker, or small heater.
The Xboost feature only works for 'resistive' loads like a non-smart electric heater. I do not recommend using it on anything that has a built in circuit board or an electric motor. The low voltage can damage those devices.
Great work as always. My interest in this question is what kinds of tech would you perceive or desire can come in the near future in portable solar charging units. As it seems with most tech as soon as you purchase something the new improved version comes out. EcoFlow seems to be one of the leaders and this unit looks very tempting to buy right now, if this one had not been so noisy and had cleaner out put would you have given it a 100% rating?
Great inverter and battery specs for such a small unit, but why oh why is the solar limited to 220w??? The solar max input of 50V and 13A would allow for two 250w 20Vmax panels in series for 500w, which could keep up with that inverter capacity much better. I guess they’re rate limiting the total power for heat dissipation or something, but that means you won’t be able to use this *solar* generator at anywhere near its capacity for long periods off grid without draining the battery.
You're probably right about the heat dissipation or long term durability. Running for long periods of time really depends on the load. For a small DC load of a 12v fridge and LED lights, maybe a small DC fan 220w will definitely keep up just fine. I did that on my EB70 for awhile and it only gets around 160 watts input via solar.
@@Jasonoid Yeah, but then you could do that with an even smaller unit. Also on a cloudy day that 220w panel will probably give you 20-25w at best. Having 500w of panels would still provide 50-60w on a cloudy day and that might keep up with critical loads like the fridge. I guess you could overpanel this unit, but panels aren’t cheap and it would feel like a waste on sunny days. Still looking for that fabled unicorn solar generator 😆
@@jampam-jf8mt Sure. Bluetti beat them to market with LFP cells, but now Bluetti's general sentiment is tanking bc of their lack of features and very lackluster customer service. Being first doesn't mean being best...
@@Mike_219 Bluetti are releasing new products. The eb55 and eb70 were released back a long time ago and eco flow didn't have any lithium phosphate units at the time until recently. Some of the newer power stations aren't bad in terms of features. All powers has a new station with all the features that most people need
@@Mike_219 I didnt say being first is best.. you said running away...having a well known brand name doesn't mean the best. Many people probably haven't tested an eco flow river 2 pro and simply buy it from the reviews and the big name
I had my original Ecoflow River Pro die on me and I went through the whole customer support process as a 'normal person' (not using any youtube influence) and I didn't have any hangups and they replaced the unit within a week. Has something changed since then?
Again a very nice review. I just tested the boost function . The weird thing is it never delivers more than 800 watts.( Forget 1600 ) It just drops the voltage till the device thats rated at a much higher wattage works. Pretty clever. My 1300 Watt nespresso machine works fine with the river 2 pro . In Europe we have 230V . With X-Boost on the voltage drops to 192V and the device works fine ! What I don't like is that my fan is running with zero load on the ac. Its also running while charging on solar power. Is this normal? thnx again
Love this unit. I’ve been waiting for it. Great solar input specs. Now to choose between it and the Delta 2. Thank you. Great video. Everything I wanted to know.
@@Jasonoid hey Jason, I just watched two other reviews on this unit. Yours is the best by far. One thing they both said that is different from what you said is that the unit does not come with the MC4 solar cable. Big bummer.
@@litnoregrets7551 the "reviewers package" is always different than the actual product. It probably doesn't come with the solar charging cable but you can find them online for cheaper since it uses XT60.
Thanks Jason! Really appreciate your reviews. Curious though, your current spreadsheet (as of 2/23/24) has it rated at 6.5/10, not the 9.5/10 you mention here. Has something changed or is it just a different scoring system between your tests and the spreadsheet itself? Thanks again!
I wish I could go back and update older videos, I'm sorry for the confusion. Six months ago I updated my scoring system to have stricter requirements as the technology has gotten better on these models. It's now the Grading System 2.0, so all the scores have been adjusted. Raising the bar pretty much lowered all the scores on all the models. I did this change because all power stations were getting perfect scores and what benefit does a grading system have if everyone gets an A?
The Xt60 connector used limited the DC-DC converter to 8A car charge setting (190W@24V). With a XT60i it should hit the 220w max charge input for that port by treating it like solar.
An excellent review on what appears to be a very good power storage station from an "established company" that has had a presence in the market for multiple years. I have always like EcoFlow's use of an XT60 charging port and the included built-in AC adapter for charging. Definitely a smart decision on EcoFllow's part with regards to using LiFePO4 cells in this power station.
@@Jasonoid Actually if you look close at the Ecoflow supplied cable connector it's a XT 60i with a third terminal that limits charging. I like my Ecoflow 220 panels because of the glass panels, they are heavier but they aren't floppy like all the other Ecoflow panels. The stand does suck.
Tinha feito a compra do EB70S ontem. Assistindo ao seu vídeo, fui convencido a cancelar meu pedido no Aliexpress, e comprar essa Ecoflow😅 Muito obrigado pelo esclarecimento !
Good review. Just for info. Most Amatuer Radio equipment runs on 12V DC, unless you have a larger base station with internal PSU. So, the hum is not really a problem.
Does Delta series have better sinewave inverter in terms of noise or it's the same? I think Ecoflow went to non expandable battery for consumer level (River) product lineup and left it only for professional high power / off grid model lineup (Delta). you really cannot off grid with River series, it's like portable/camping powerbank, not a solar generator which needs to power up whole home for days
Updated the scoring system with new standards. I raised the bar a bit since most power stations were getting full scores. All power stations had the same grade basically so something had to change. Sorry for the confusion. It's still an excellent model, just missed a few of the new requirements.
Ok thank you for your very prompt responses. I just bought the Anker 535 with 512 Wh, and was thinking about returning it and purchasing the EF. I know the EF has about 300 more Wh but not sure how they compare in terms of quality, etc.@@Jasonoid
The older Delta has Lithium ion batteries so they won't last quite as long and the new LFP batteries in the River 2 pro. Depends on your use case. The Delta has a larger AC inverter and more solar input, the River 2 Pro is more compact and smaller.
The River 2 pro eventually go with me on road trips and camping but also for unexpected power outages we have here in the pnw for internet and computer, possibly chest freezer. But I will also be getting a Delta 2 max this coming new year, so that will run the more bigger appliances.@@Jasonoid
Jason, impressed with this unit but I really think for just about $100 more (currently about $700 total) I would opt for 2 Pecron E600 LFP 614Wh power supplies. For 1000Wh units I think it comes in among the best currently available. What I really like in an inexpensive home emergency backup situation is that I can be solar charging one unit while the other is running in the house. With the 1200w AC rating it can power my 1050w coffee maker with no issues. Not having an app is a non issue as well. Powering a 12w fridge with 2 of the Pecrons, switching as necessary, makes much more sense to me that rigging another battery for these mid size units. So what am I missing?
You'd get more battery capacity that way. The only things to think about would the quality of the device, the warranty length and customer support. The Pecron is a great budget device and I've had pretty good feedback about them. I've also had comments left saying they had issues so there is a slight risk involved (you get that with any budget device I suppose).
Registering their (Pecron E600) products doubles the warranty to 2 years. If I was spending $1,000+ I would be more concerned. At $350 it is worth the chance. The unit arrived at 60+%. Topped it off with the brick. Tested wireless phone charging, all good. Will run our 1050w Nespresso tomorrow.
I have this unit and am now concerned about the inverter issues you pointed out. I use it as a UPS for my router, modem, mini PC, and Synology NAS. Do you think it is safe for this application? Thanks.
Its been awhile since this review. Can you clarify the issues about the inverter I talked about? I don't remember there being any issues. It should be fine to run a PC, modem, and such.
@@Jasonoid When you presented the grading, at the 20:10 mark of the video, you claimed it lost a half point because of the noise on the AC inverter. At the 22:22 mark, you mentioned the noisy inverter being a con and you said no sensitive electronics. EcoFlow should have put a filter in there so there is no interference or noise on the AC inverter.
@@brianw6645 thank you. The noisy inverter is mostly a downside for audio equipment. I haven't noticed any issues running small electronics on the inverter.
To unlock max power input from DC 12V, just switch to "charging from solar panel" mode in the settings on a phone. It just thinks that it's charging from a car socket and limits input to 8A. You'll get 13A input and near 150-160W. But don't do it if you're changing from a car.
The only way to get more than 8 amps input at 12v is to use Ecoflows high power solar cable with the orange XT60i adapter. It will allow the full amperage and get near those numbers. Unfortunately there's no setting in the smart app to get more than 8 amps off car charging. Gotta use the high power solar cable.
Hey, I found your channel from your most recent 200W panel test video. It was very detailed with pertinent information and succinct. I'm already sold on the River 2 Pro and just researching solar power options but I saw this video and thought I would check it out. I noticed on the video you gave the power station a 9.5 but on your grading sheet you have it listed at 6.5. Did I miss something? Did you later downgrade for some reason? Anyway, it looks like you're putting out some good information and helping folks make informed buying decisions. Thanks.
Great question! I just put out my new Power Station 2.0 Grading system. I raised the bar a bit on the new system vs the old since many of my viewers have been wanting more tests and new standards. Since the bar is higher now, all the previously scored models have been 'downgraded' a little if they didn't meet the new requirements. This model is still one of my favorite camping models and I use it all the time for powering my 12v fridges.
You must really like this power station, you keep touching it. I recently bought a power station with 666Wh, pass-thru charging, 100W PD bi-directional and NCM battery. When it dies after 1000 charges there should be new battery chemistry by then. And I only paid 31 cents/Wh.
Meh, xboost isn't useful. You can basically run a heater (resistive load) above the wattage limit on the inverter. It works by dropping down the inverter voltage from 120v down to 100v or less. Most electronics will not run at these low voltages so the feature is very limited.
Grading sheet was upgraded to higher standards earlier this year due to advancement in technology. I'm unable to update older videos with the new standards.
Thanks for the information, I just got my Eco River 2 Pro, just don't like the small flashing light in the front, and wish it came with a cover or container for storage. Everything is exactly as you said it was, and the app is great.
If you look for a 'padded / insulated lunch bag or box' , you might be able to find the perfect bag that fits this unit. It will act like a protective case. My father in law found one for his slightly smaller power station. It was a little smaller but I'm sure there are different sizes available on amazon.
I got the marketing email last night about how it has LFP batteries, we'll see how things go. Hopefully they got some of the early bugs worked out from the 1500 model!
@6:31 ... display itself is consuming a lot of energy. Short display timeout can save significant amount over long time. Display can be turned off manually, but short timeout is better as display automatically illuminate itself when there is some change detected (like usb start / stop pulling power, etc.)
I understand that there is no dual charging feature that combines AC and DC input. But what about DC / Solar input and 100W PD? If these are both available, do you know which one is preferred?
Yeah, we need to see a change in the industry as all of these small units have noise on the inverter. Someone needs to set a new trend and brag about it haha
Jason as always love your videos. I love the new river 2. Might be a while before I buy another ecoflow product as I have 2 ecoflow max and the river flow pro with the extension battery I got free. Ecoflow to me has the best customer service. I use a dometic fridge/freezer when I go camping and the river pro with the extension battery with it. The best part is that I also use the river pro to charge my dinosaur Jackery 500 that I use for my Bi-pap machine. These two items power everything I need for camping to include all my 12v lights and 12v fans. Using the solar panels which are two for a total of 320 watts, even on a cloudy day it is able to partially charge the river pro and extension to maintain enough power for a few days. Again great video. Buy the time I use up my jackery 500's which are two and my inergy Kodiak it will be a while. By the way the river pro also charges my Kodiak when I take it instead of the jackery. Ecoflow makes a phenomenal product.
I really like small diffused lights, that would have been a useful feature since this is a camping unit. I guess the next best option would be a small led powered light.
Yes, it's the bifacial panel in the video. The 'kickstand' is the storage case and in my opinion it's pure garbage to use and setup...it's best to avoid using it the included stand.
Great review . 1 question you showed the pass through charge while using ac power . Does it support pass through charging while charging via dc. Eg charging the unit via dc in a car and a camp fridge pluged into the unit at same time
@5:18 Unit Timeout is ignored when you enable "Car" output ... AC Timeout and Unit timeout (for USB) is working fine. When there is AC load in range 0 - 2 W, then it start timeout and once expired it shutdown AC output. If there are no other outputs enabled + no load on USB, then Unit Timeout kick in. Once it expire, then whole unit is powered off. That mean that You can for example set Unit Timeout to 30 minutes and once connected phone is fully charged it will automatically power itself down (assuming that phone will stop pulling power once fully charged) ... but that is not case for Car output. When Car output is enabled then Unit Timeout is temporary set to "Never". That mean that even if there is nothing plugged in, it will keep operating and providing power ... I think it is due to "fridge test" and it is vendor way to ensure that it will always pass. I personally thing that this was bad decision. I am using Car output for things that may benefit from working Timeout, but it is always set to Never.
@@Jasonoid ... DC standby usage is impressive on EcoFlow, but it is still producing heat and eventually drain battery. That's why most battery operated devices have some kind of timeout. It is to preserve charge when device is accidentally left on ... for me it is strange that there are 3 different timeout configuration, almost all configuration options have pop-up help display, yet there is no mention anywhere that DC output will inhibit timeout.
Awesome content, video production, and information. I have a Bluetti EBA 3 with a 120 solar panel as my first move into this game. Live in a condo and just wanted a small unit to charge phone and radios if need be, with low cost commitment. That being said, looking for my next step to get something a little bit larger, and this new EcoFlow seems perfect. It basically has all the features that Bluettis newer EBA 3 has, but obviously larger. That EBA70 certainly does seem to be lacking now. I think I'll get the River 2 Pro this black friday for my small house back up and use the even smaller bluetti for camping or keeping in my car. Thanks again!
Curious what it takes for the fans to kick on using solar charging? Is it based on wattage or temperature cause my bluetti is driving me crazy.. fans run at low wattage/temp. I never understood why these companies being as advanced as they are don't use brushless motor fans.
It's based on temp, much better than the 100w kickin for the Bluetti models. I didn't notice the fans running much for solar.... But it was pretty cold outside.
Lifepo4 is a safe battery chemistry and doesn't catch on fire like NCM batteries. If you have all the proper safeties in place (wire gauge, proper fuses, and charge controller settings) it should be fine to leave unattended while charging.
You can calculate the runtime of that for any power station. You do that by taking the total capacity of the power station in watt hours, then dividing it by the wattage of the light, and it will give you the runtime of the light in hours. For example: 768 watt hours / 229 watts = 3.3 hours of runtime. Now you also have to factor in losses from the inverter so I'd say somewhere around 2.75 hours of runtime. If you need a longer runtime go with a larger power station like the new EcoFlow Delta 2 (1024wh vs the 768wh).
Hi there. Are you 100% sure the DC 12v output (car port) is regulated? I ask because an Ecoflow agent answered this question online stating that it is NOT regulated. I called Ecoflow and after 30+ minutes waiting on hold, I gave up. Tried the online chat and the Ecoflow rep didn’t understand what I was asking.
@@Jasonoid Thank you so much for answering this question. It's a little concerning that the Ecoflow reps don't understand this. So are all LFP batteries 24v? I'm also looking at the Anker PowerHouse 555 and can't seem to find if the 12v output is regulated. Maybe this is an outdated question because they're all regulated that are made now??? Thanks again.
@@stumpy075 the battery voltage depends on the model. Usually larger models use 48v batteries and smaller models have 24v to 30v batteries inside. I have a full review of the Anker 555 on my channel, you'll have to dig back a little bit to find it. Both a decent models.
@@Jasonoid I’d say most of the time camping I’m between 40-70f fridge at 36 How about a range? I only have a 500w bluetti now and I want more time out of it. This looks great but I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth going up to a delta 2 or Anker 757 This is a lot smaller & lighter. I’ve just heard a lot of bad things about EcoFlow customer service from friends which is not ideal
@@undefeatedgaul3201 your fridge will pull around 15 to 18 watts on average at those temps. To calculate runtime, take the usable watt hour capacity from the DC output and divide it by the watts, you'll get hours of runtime: River 2 Pro = 683wh / 18 watts = 37 hours without charging
Thanks Jason, was looking forward to your review of this. Really helpful. How do you feel the Bluetti AC60 will compare to this? They sure are pushing it.
The Bluetti AC60 is interesting... Really small internal battery, 600w inverter, 165 watts of solar with expansion batteries. It's basically an EB3A that's takes 2 extra batteries. I think they should have made the inverter bigger on the AC60.
The Pecron E600 is the best BUDGET power station under 1000wh. However it does not have fast AC charging, smart app connectivity, a bidirectional USBc port, nor a 5 year warranty. To get all those features, warranty and phone customer support you need to pay for the upgrades.
@@Jasonoid The only thing you're paying for is the warranty. The pecron does 400 W charging, for the capacity that's still 1.5 hours. Plenty fast. The only difference is the warranty but for the same price as the Delta you can get a 200 watt panel as well. But if warranty is what you are wanting then yes the Delta is better but everything else the pecron is better and more versatile
The inverter has its own load as it's running in the background. This is completely normal with any power station and inverter. The inverter is taking DC power from the battery and inverting it to AC power which requires a constant background load. Only use the inverter when you need it. Have it turned off when you aren't using it.
@Jasonoid I have a River Pro, and it doesn't do that. It's like when AC is on, on the River 2 Pro, the capacity is cut in half automatically. So you're saying if you turn the AC on yours, the run time also drops to 50 hours without any load, and that within seconds of switching to AC, not like I left it on AC without load for hours.
@@ytwatcher6020 the River Pro just doesn't calculate the power usage of the AC inverter. Do a test on the River Pro, it will burn through power by just leaving the inverter on with no load. The River 2 Pro just calculates the AC power usage and that's why the estimated time drops down when it's turned on.
@Jasonoid I ran a test, on the older River Pro a 34w load, the estimated running time is 22 hours, on the River 2 Pro, the same load only has 14 hours! And this is supposed to be 768WH! This thing is a piece of crap!
@@ytwatcher6020 🤦 how about you do an actual test vs just reading what the screen says. I never go off what the screen says since it's just an estimation. The older river pro AC inverter was not efficient at all. The new one is slightly better. Do an actual load test on both and measure the runtime to find the true performance.
Agreed, Item number 1763533 . I am thinking of returning my Anker 535 and getting the River 2 PRO. I paid $349 for the Anker, only a $50 difference for the EcoFlow @@john-j7e7e

Great review Jason! I liked seeing all the gadgets you can run with this on DC - that RC truck looks awesome. You got better DC capacity than me, nice. Funny how much louder your fans were tho. I agree on the score, this thing is very solid. A wireless charger would make it a 10 for me.

Thank you so much for your reviews. Where I'm from, South Africa, we have major power outages (grid load shedding) so Ecoflow products have because very popular of late. Your review of this brand is very informative, thank you...
Popular because they send loads of units out for review and have good marketing department. They use social media to a good effect.
Love your reviews and the spreadsheet. Helped me immensely in deciding which power station to get. In the end, this one is most suited to my immediate needs.
It's a great option! It's on a good sale right now for Prime Day too!
Confusing.
Excellent video! Thanks for all your work on these videos. This looks like the perfect power station for my needs.
It's a great option! Lots of eccellent features at a decent price!
@@Jasonoid No worries. I see your point and appreciate the explanation.
I love my pro. Thanks
Great video Jason! Glad to see your results are very similar to mine. Interesting on the noise for the radio boys. They may have to pass on this unit. But over for everyone else this is a solid unit 💪🏼👍🏼
Yeah, most Hams will use a 12v standalone battery for the cleanest output.
What up Doe!?
Very nice upgrade over the first gen river power stations. I think it has the best options of any midrange station this year and would be a perfect camping companion.
Great job Dr J'
Can't wait for the next power station/ solar panel giveaway 😁
I use the idea of ice cube trays to save energy for my fridge... I have a larger container I make freeze in the freezer to me an ice block ..unplug the fridge and put that block in the "non freezer" part of the fridge ...
So it keeps things cool for about 12hrs but I'd like a station like this for when I need to plug back in the fridge to make another ice block overnight
Cause then I could use solar to charge it up and further cut down my electric bill
Great idea using the ice to keep your fridge cool without power!

Will run some hotplates and a small Instant Pot too for those cooking out there!
Excellent feedback, thanks for sharing!
Thanks

This video will break down all the charging specs:

"What did you think of the EcoFlow River 2 Pro?!"
Couldn't tell ya. Was going to buy one, but they had been sold out of them for months! Just checked and looks like they finally have them back in stock though.
The were only available for preorder until this morning. Now they can be purchased officially so they should show as being in stock.
They were never sold out because they were never for sale.

Great unit! I prefer Delta mini, same price and more wh and power. Old technology but 800 charges is enough for me
I started to get that 10inch Fan but someone said it's powered by 9v instead of 12 now so hooking it up to the 5521 will damage it
Been running that fan on my 13v LFP batteries for about 5 years now with no issues.
No small power station I have tested will pass that test so far.
it could probably run it, if the starting surge wasn't so high, thanks for the reply
Not nearly to the degree that Jackery shills their products.
From what I've seen, it seems like the Eco Flow River 2 Pro is a great little unit.
Montek review here: ruclips.net/video/emQZvo41J38/видео.html
The River 2 pro is still a smaller model with a smaller price tag.
Can this River 2 Pro powers a water pressure washer for my car detailing set up?
Does it have a Relay? Any UPS functionality?
It does support Ecoflow's "EPS mode" , which is pretty slow at 30ms swap over time. It can't be used with any computers so I don't really tout it as a feature.
I purchased this power station a week ago and it does what I need it to do. You didn't mention the EX Boost 1600W which allows you to run items like a blender, coffee maker, or small heater.
The Xboost feature only works for 'resistive' loads like a non-smart electric heater. I do not recommend using it on anything that has a built in circuit board or an electric motor. The low voltage can damage those devices.
Thank you. You helped me make the decision to buy one. This looks like the best choice by quite a margin.
Glad I could help
Great work as always. My interest in this question is what kinds of tech would you perceive or desire can come in the near future in portable solar charging units. As it seems with most tech as soon as you purchase something the new improved version comes out. EcoFlow seems to be one of the leaders and this unit looks very tempting to buy right now, if this one had not been so noisy and had cleaner out put would you have given it a 100% rating?
Yeah, the 0.5 points off the score was due to the noisy inverter. Other than that this performed really well!
Hi, what fast charger do you recommend for this? The limit input is 220W from solar.
I'd recommend a basic 12v to 24v boost converter off Amazon. They are super cheap and will get you the full 220w input.

Ecoflow is running away from the competition. I have to get one eventually! Another great review, Jason.
Eco flow are actually slow... The competition release power stations with Lithium phosphate batteries before Eco flow did.

Is this normal? thnx again

Yep, my bathroom scale confirmed the online specs! Super portable and lightweight.
Love this unit. I’ve been waiting for it. Great solar input specs. Now to choose between it and the Delta 2. Thank you. Great video. Everything I wanted to know.
They are both great, I'd say the Delta 2 is a little more future proof with the larger inverter and expansion battery. Costs a little more though
@@Jasonoid Thank you. Appreciate you taking the time to respond.

That makes perfect sense. It's all relative anyway...to some extent. Thank you
The Xt60 connector used limited the DC-DC converter to 8A car charge setting (190W@24V). With a XT60i it should hit the 220w max charge input for that port by treating it like solar.
I would rather go with the VTOMAN Jump 1500X Portable Power Station 1500W, 828Wh LiFePO4 Battery Powered, on sale for 599. Hard to beat
I'm liking the XT60 port more and more since you can find so many adapters online. I agree, I'm glad they finally made the move to LiFePO4 :)
Assistindo ao seu vídeo, fui convencido a cancelar meu pedido no Aliexpress, e comprar essa Ecoflow😅
Muito obrigado pelo esclarecimento !
Good review.
Just for info. Most Amatuer Radio equipment runs on 12V DC, unless you have a larger base station with internal PSU. So, the hum is not really a problem.
Does Delta series have better sinewave inverter in terms of noise or it's the same? I think Ecoflow went to non expandable battery for consumer level
(River) product lineup and left it only for professional high power / off grid model lineup (Delta). you really cannot off grid with River series, it's like portable/camping powerbank, not a solar generator which needs to power up whole home for days
Gavin, would love to use it with our exterior 12V refrigerator when we’re dry camping off the side of the road. And heated blanket.
Great review, thanks! Question, why does your spreadsheet show it with a 6.5 and a score of D? In your review you gave it a 9.5. Thanks
Would you recomend overall River 2 Pro or the Delta Mini? I'm leaning towards the River 2 Pro.
Nice review, thanks.
For the price vtoman 1000
They were slow close but had to keep you those slow USB A ports instead of quick charge ports.
This unit now has an F grade and 6.5/10 on your grading worksheet. Uh, what happened?
Raised the bar significantly to the Grading System 2.0. It's clearly stated in the grading sheet at the top that there were changes.
@@Jasonoid So then who would buy this unit today if it scores an 'F'?
@@rod2625 it's definitely a great deal! You'll get good life from that product. Enjoy the power on the go! 👍😁
Could u do comparison of those two units?
Would the Runhood Rallye 1200 power station be as good as the river 2 max or eb55?
@@Jasonoid Thank you for clarifying. Have a great day.
Will this unit input charge from the cigarette lighter and the USB C at the same time?
It does not support dual charging, only one source at the same time
Thank you
Hey, I found your channel from your most recent 200W panel test video.
I didn't know I wasnt supposed to touch the power stations I review LOL 😂
Any suggestions on a different brand solar panel? The 220W bi-facial from EF is OOS and quite $$$.
This video will breakdown a bit of options!
ruclips.net/video/oURl_i7ucmk/видео.html
17:52 “You can turn on and off X boost” …no other mention of what that is or does 😢
Meh, xboost isn't useful. You can basically run a heater (resistive load) above the wattage limit on the inverter. It works by dropping down the inverter voltage from 120v down to 100v or less. Most electronics will not run at these low voltages so the feature is very limited.
Hello, your grading sheet gave this a 6.5/10. Please explain.
Grading sheet was upgraded to higher standards earlier this year due to advancement in technology. I'm unable to update older videos with the new standards.
@@Jasonoid No problem. I just wanted to know the current score. It's a 6.5 out of 10?
@@baaboo21 yep, and they should be launching a new river series in a couple months
@@Jasonoid Perfect, thank you. Love your video reviews. I've watched them all. Great work. The spreadsheet is killer as well.
Didn't see you test the UPS functionality. Have you tried it? The UPS feature on my Bluetti EB3A was not reliable.
They call it EPS mode it works on this model just fine, it's not meant for fast swap over times so it won't work on desktop computers and such.
Is the 50v solar input max enough wiggle room to over-panel with the ecoflow 48v/400w panel I already have?
Look at the back panel and check the VOC numbers, if the panel stays under 50voc you'll be fine.
Does the Delta Pro also allow charging via the USB-C port? Would probably never use it, but I'm curious now.
No, just the new River 2 series supports that feature. Their large power stations just output power.
Another stellar review!! Are you planning on reviewing the upcoming Growatt Infinity 1300?
I got the marketing email last night about how it has LFP batteries, we'll see how things go. Hopefully they got some of the early bugs worked out from the 1500 model!
What is the minimum charging wattage that can be received through the USB C? I have a dashboard solar panel and it can put out maybe 10W.
As long as it's a USBc protocol it will charge anywhere under 100 watts.
@6:31 ... display itself is consuming a lot of energy. Short display timeout can save significant amount over long time. Display can be turned off manually, but short timeout is better as display automatically illuminate itself when there is some change detected (like usb start / stop pulling power, etc.)
During my long tests I had the display disabled to save on power. It's just on for the filming.
I understand that there is no dual charging feature that combines AC and DC input. But what about DC / Solar input and 100W PD? If these are both available, do you know which one is preferred?
AC power is always preferred
Thanks! So USB PD is threated as AC input and is preffered over DC/solar? In terms of current 100W USB PD is 20v@5A DC iirc, hence the question.
Tons of awesome information, loved the video! I didn't catch if you mentioned if it has a UPS capability?
It does have EPS mode, but that's not super useful with a cutover time of 30ms. Not intended for use with computers.
That electrical noise will definitely be a problem. Huge con. Come on EcoFlow, get that cleaned up!
Excellent feedback, thanks for sharing your experience!
The VDL 1200 watt and 1500 watt are both cheaper than eco flow river 2 pro..5 year warranty too..
I've never heard of that brand, I'll have to check it out.
Really wish EcoFlow would add a diffused light bar. Considering outdoor use is a primary use, I mean it's kind of an obvious feature.
I really like small diffused lights, that would have been a useful feature since this is a camping unit. I guess the next best option would be a small led powered light.
Is the 220 watt solar panel the bifacial? The only one I can find is bifacial with kickstand. Thanks.
Eg charging the unit via dc in a car and a camp fridge pluged into the unit at same time
Yes, you can charge it on DC and have the power going out as well.
Just got the River pro lile 2 mounths ago... if i had known i would have waited :(
Both are excellent models. The main upgrade is the LFP batteries. You save quite a bit of cash going with Gen 1!
Ill take the Delta Mini over the River 2 Pro
The DC output uses 0.13% per hour, it's like nothing running at all.
I love this model, it's a great size and has a lot of features for the price! They should have some great pricing during BlackFriday :)
@@Jasonoid thank you for input and quality review!
@@Jasonoid Thank you for your activeness in the comments and always answering our questions.
is it safe to charge my lifepo4 battery with solar when im not at home for work?i use the victron charge controller
Lifepo4 is a safe battery chemistry and doesn't catch on fire like NCM batteries. If you have all the proper safeties in place (wire gauge, proper fuses, and charge controller settings) it should be fine to leave unattended while charging.
Thanks for this informative video a lot of hard work. which PS do you recomment to run
1 amaran 200x video light ? Thanks again
Do you know how many watts that light uses?
@@Jasonoid 229 Watt / 48 volt thanks
You can calculate the runtime of that for any power station. You do that by taking the total capacity of the power station in watt hours, then dividing it by the wattage of the light, and it will give you the runtime of the light in hours. For example: 768 watt hours / 229 watts = 3.3 hours of runtime. Now you also have to factor in losses from the inverter so I'd say somewhere around 2.75 hours of runtime. If you need a longer runtime go with a larger power station like the new EcoFlow Delta 2 (1024wh vs the 768wh).
@@Jasonoid Thank you so much for help.
Yep, 100% sure. The battery is a 24v LFP battery, if it wasn't regulated it would be putting out 24v.
All I care about and all I want from any video is how long will it power my iceco fridge?????? VL45/VL60 HOW LONG
What ambient temp and what setpoint temp will you be running?
@@Jasonoid
I’d say most of the time camping I’m between 40-70f fridge at 36
How about a range? I only have a 500w bluetti now and I want more time out of it.
This looks great but I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth going up to a delta 2 or Anker 757
This is a lot smaller & lighter.
@@Jasonoid Thank you. So many choices, so little time...
Great video...!! Thanks.
Nope this is not the best under 1000 W. The best is the pecron 600 LFP. That thing comes with the 1200 W inverter.
When I turn on the AC on my EcoFlow, the hours automatically drop to 50 hrs from 99 without any load. Is this defective? It's a new unit.
Saw this at Costco today for $399. Seems like a great deal. Also had their 160w solar panel for $269. Also a larger unit but didn't look at in detail.
399 is a great price! Might have been the Max unit instead of the Pro.
