      To be honest, removing phil from all of this, this is terrible advice. Sure, there are sometimes where you aren't just going to get the full potential, but you should never give up something just because it isn't for you. If you want to be a SF Master, it doesn't matter who you are all you have to do is keep practing and keep trying, and this is true for everything else. Maybe you won't ever be the very best because that just isn't your fate in life or whatever but you should never ever give up trying to be. Just because it's been decades, it's never too late to try again or keep trying.
      That being said, like @mixedgrene9729 said, Phil's problem is that he wants to be good without the practice or self-reflection. He needs to understand that he's the one who keeps making the mistake, not the game or the opponents.

    That Cammy player "mashed jabs" because Drive Rush is suseptible to lows, especially during it's start up frames. It's why you only ever see a Drive Rush when a player is closing in on the opponent, or to extend combos from fierce normals or positive hit confirms.
    You know who would know that? Master Rank players.

      there are things like throw drive rush that most people will try to get you to block big buttons, so most of the time you can jab and it will interupt, there's also drive rush cancels, if its from a light, uou can mash and will win all the time, if its from a medium and they try to do a big attack then you can mash, mostly those are the things to look out for as well as untrue block strings

    What gets me is that Phil isn't the worst at this game. I think I'm pretty damn good for getting four characters into diamond, but his Blanka is at a far higher level than any character I have. Then again, I'm taking my losses as opportunities to learn and telling myself "let's not try doing that the next time" while DSP, who is arguably better than many people playing the game, takes seemingly no accountability and is having no fun with his success.
    There's a metaphor here for his career, I just know it.

    • @Kurinth
      @Kurinth 11 месяцев назад

      considering how early on he did this climb with blanka, and then honda, a lot of what he's doing to get wins is just knowledge checking the people he's playing, you'll probably be able to pass him pretty quickly if youve managed to get 4 characters to diamond, there's a reason he was barely able to take any wins off the master level players he was going against, let alone a set, because once they figured him out, he was never able to adapt.

    This is literally a demonstration of why a super lenient rank system is a problem.
    LP line goes up does help with ladder anxiety but as win rate falls off bad things happen. Psychology experiments have shown that if you can not win at a game at least 30% of the time, you will quit. So the easy LP gain is good for short term player retention but detrimental to long term retention when players start finding themselves consistently over matched. I say this as someone who probably belongs in high gold/low plat and find myself approaching diamond and getting crushed. Losing is helpful to learning is one thing, but you have to be able to follow what's going on to learn from it. Otherwise it's just a blur straight into the loss screen.
