- I got a lot of comments on my latest 3D printer review, about the differences of the Anet A8 and the A6. I recently made reviews of both printers, but in this video we will check them out and see which one
is superior.

I just got myself an anet a6 and am waiting for it to arrive I got it one gear best for $120
Laughed pretty hard when he said "there are some reasons why you shouldn't go with the cheaper one." Aka the A8 lol, then go ones to finish the video saying you should get the A8 over the A6.
Ken H that is racist
Actually he is Swedish. And yes, a negative generalization like this is not nice. Was surprised by the switch in the end too though.
Yeah. I'm confused. Is the A8 better or not?
I think what he was saying is that out of the box the A6 is better, but the A8 has a larger community, so there are a lot of upgrades and community support...and given the price he thinks the A8 is a better bet.
Actually, one of the big reasons A6 is more expensive is because it comes with a roll of filament and the A8 comes with a tiny sample package of filament.
I liked the video, but you really should lower the level of background music, your voice can't be heard most of the time! And besides, that music is annoying!
I have added subtitles. Thanks for your input!
Try use some little microphone on your shirt, and record separate audio wave, and than put video and this wave together. Your voice will be much better, with less reverb from the room.
Just purchased the A6. The full acrylic frame is going to add to the stability of the printer and therefore greater accuracy in your prints. I agree that the overhead mounted extruded is going to provide a much more stable base to print. Aside from some of the hardware similarities the overall build quality is a lot more professional and harder wearing. The print size is also slightly larger at 220 x 220 x 250. That interface is also nicer to use.
Awesome comparison man! Looking to get a 3D printer and was undecided between these two. Think I'm going to get the A8
Good choice, have a nice day!
Thanks for making and sharing the video! I'm just starting to explore my A6...
Thank you, good luck with your A6!
This was the first 3d printing video i ever watched, Glad to have been told the differences, as I almost got the A6 simply because it was just slightly more expensive, as if it would have mad a difference somehow- I'm glad to know its just the orientation of parts and the slightly different controls/LCD I'm missing out on- everything else that actually mattered was virtually identical, and I'm glad to know that
Good choice! Gearbest sent me the A6 for a review. Turns out that the smaller body and larger acrylic supports give better stability.

Thanks for the video, researching my first 3D Printer, this was helpful. Subbed.
Nice job on the comparison :) Exactly what i wanted to know
Today I had to advertise a product at school for my subject "digital literacy" so I chose the Anet a6. Today was the first day I got this video project. I had to type a script. I knew exactly what to type for the project thanks this to your video. I just wanted to say thank you for making the videos, helped a lot :)
Btw I'm in grade 8 so I can't buy the Anet A6 :(
Nice video. I bought the A8, the shipping cost was pretty high though. Subscribed as well :)
Thanks a lot! Hit me up if you run into any problems. Have a nice day!
thx for your help. I have been raking my brains all evening over the different models and in the end I needed some clarity to help me decide. Your little vid was just perfect and I just ordered my A8. Uhhh -exciting
thx again
ps. the xchange rate for the can$ 's killing me
Glad I could help!
hey dude, your review is so profesional and usefull, thank´s so much. following your chanel from now on.
U have solve all my doubts, thank u and continue doing it the same way. :)
Awesome, thanks for watching!
Hi there, thanks for doing the video. You mentioned that the boards are identical. I noticed that the A6 has two cable for the display. Can you tell me how the cables are connected? I bought spare LCD display 12864 hoping to connect it to my A8 but it did not come with instruction from GB.
What is the name of program that you use at 2:39?
It's a free CAD software called Fusion360.
I got the A6 only because GearBest had a flash sale and sold for $150, so far I haven't had any problems with it... However if you're just getting started, I would go for the A6...
Do you know if a few mods were done as suggested by www.simplify3d.com/support/materials-guide/carbon-fiber-filled/ to allow the Anet A8 to use carbon fiber filament?
A8 is an outstanding printer , i have no problem with it, at all
my only question what other software can i use beside Cura, and can i connect it directly to PC via USB
Great vid mate.
There is a couple of softwares you could use, Repetier Host and Cura being the most popular ones. You can also purchase Simplify3D, but it's quite expensive (150$). Yes, you can connect it to PC via USB. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the reply, what software are you using in this video @4:05 does it work on A8 printer,
Thanks Mate
IMO, just the knob (versus buttons) justifies the slightly higher price. But the improved orientation on the X axis is probably key, and in the long run stable prints are what we all want, no?
i really want one,the one thing im confused about is,the SD card, does it go straight into your PC or does the sd card go into a usd drive/dongle then you plug into your pc,as i dont think my computer has any where for that little sd card to plug in
+Polly g An adapter for the SD card is inclunded.
Hi, I have assembled the printer completely however it does not turn on. I live in NY our power supply is 110v and I changed the settings to 110v before turning it on
Thanks for the video! I bought the A6 as the A8 is out of stock in South Africa. I am very interested in the auto bed leveling - thanks for the link to the video - but cannot seem to find the part. Do you perhaps have a part number or proper description for what I need to look for please?
www.gearbest.com/3d-printer-parts/pp_591321.html
What wattage power supplies do they each have? gearbest says 150W while anet says 250W for A6?
I just purchased the A6. I know there are lots of mods and community support for the A8, is there a page or site that shows the common mods that are compatible with the A6?
great vid. I own the a8 as well and it makes wonderful prints. when I bought mine, it did come with a free large roll of abs filament and free shipping on ebay. I payed 174$ usd. It's been a great printer for the $.
Awesome, thanks for sharing!
Is gearbest the best way to go? It looks like there are a lot of similar units on eBay for less money. The only real thing I can find different is the mainboard. The ones on eBay are mostly a Melzi V2.0? Does it make a difference?
Perfect video! Thanks
Thanks a lot! More video incoming :)
All this sounds great and I am looking to buy a 3D printer..... I have one problem though Gearbest has a really bad reputation and literally dozens of review site are flowing over with complaints about bad quality, never arriving, parts missing, used items (returns?) being sent out etc,. Also - they are bad at refunds - dictating one accepts a issue a "store credit" which is their "Wallet". Which forces a wait and buying again from the store. using their sister company EverBuying - I refused this and involved PayPal. So do you know any sellers in Australia??
But i have heared form alot of people that the anet a6 had a stronger frame? And witch one was easyer to build?
I was thinkong about the creality cr-10 but that one is like a bit over my price range...
Can I upgrade A8 with A6 control panel? Both are using the same motherboard... THX
Yes you can, but it will not fit the acrylic frame. You will have to drill new holes in order to fit the control panel. Or just attach it straight to the frame.
So (in short) which should I get, the Monoprice Select v2, or the Anet A6? Price isn't necessarily an issue, though is the extra mm of build plate volume worth it?
Do it help to put oil on the metal parts ? like engine oil ?
The A8 US Plug version sells for extra $60 compares to the EU Plug version and makes no sense to pay that much extra just for a different plug. Does your EU version has a current selector on the Power Supply Unit?
Yes, the power supply unit can be switched to 220V and 110V. Buy the EU version and use an adapter. Good luck sir!
Thanks for the video and your quick reply! Much appreciated and happy 2017! :)
What makes you choose the A8 over the A6? When the A6 is smaller, best control bottons and makes the same print size. I like both and I want to buy the best option. Help me choose.
Anet A8 is cheaper, almost 50$ less expensive. The main reason I chose the A8 is because the printer is more popular than the A6. Therefore it also has a greater community, making it easier to find support.
Thanks for take your time to answer me. It's a good reason. More people sharing ideas to improve the performance. Once again thanks.
can i use them with a different sowftware( inventor) or i have to use the printer's software?
Very good analysis. Thanks.
Hello, thanks for great video. I would like to ask, you put link in your video description to "Tutorial for auto leveling". Is autoleveling is necessary? What difference it would be without it? Will I get some discomfort without it when I will print some stuff? Thaks!
As many already commented- you recommended the a8 on account of the popularity of it, but is it BETTER? A6 has metal parts, not printed, and a more stable print head design, can you do comparison prints?
The construction of these two 3D printers will not make a significant difference regarding quality. Settings and tuning is way more important.
the a6 will have a lot less wobble, and increased strength in the frame, i think that is important to mention too :)
great video! what would you recommend for a 1st 3D printer? Anet A8 VS Anet A6 VS Tevo Tarantula? Both are good and have their own pros and cons. I appreciate you help! Thanks
Thank you for this video. I am new to this and cant wait to get me anet a8.
I will keep in touch....
Tom
RCLifeOn,
so it sounded like you gave the A8 a better rating largely in part to the "COMMUNITY" aspect. Am i correct in thinking that there is MORE things that can be downloaded or something available for the A8?
I liked the build of the A6 (the more expensive one) but now am leaning towards the A8.
Feedback requested please.
Thank you very much in advance.
R.L. King
Correct, the A8 is more popular. Therefore more people will be able to help you (if needed), more things to download and overall more information about the printer. I've been using it for 5 months and it's still my favourite!
How long did it take for you to receive the printers after ordering? I ordered an a8 on the 4th of December and it still has yet to be shipped by Gearbest. Just wondering if this is normal.
They probably have a huge amount of orders due to the holidays. Send them an email and they'll take a look at it. Good luck!
Just got my anet a8, been getting great prints how ever when the the front fan that has the white nossel is on, my extruder temp goes down and doesnt stay at 190, which i think makes the extruder heat up because it thinks its at a low temperature but its not which causes the pla to overheat, therefore messing up the print. Is anyone else having this problem, please help.
Hello there. I'm very interested in of buying a 3d printer. But I have no idea to look for. There is a ton of them under 200. Ctc geeetech anet tevo... Witch one is the best for the buck. I'm going to print mostly props and cosplay.
very nice comparison... i was looking everywhere comparing this 2 printer..
since the board are the same between this 2 printer, is it possible to use the a6 screen in a8 printer?
+Stephen Chandra Yes that should work. Thanks for watching!
RCLifeOn Thanks :D
Where can I find models to print?
Do you know if the gcodes the same for both machines ?
Yes, it's the same.
the a8 was more popular a year ago, but since the a6 is going to overtake the a8. isn't it a better choice to pick the a6 right now ?
and rclifeon what does this autolevelling do ?
Even today I would choose the A8 before A6. The community around the Anet A8 is much bigger. Autoleveling levels the bed and could help you maintain a more accurate first layer.
will these printers work with octoprint?
Which is the facebook page for ANET A8 and A6 3D printers?
Which do you think is the best cheap 3d printer? Anet a6, Anet a8, Tevo Tarantula or other?
När du beställer till Sverige får du någon tull eller liknade?
Alltid tull eftersom paketet skickas med DHL och väger så pass mycket. I genomsnitt skulle jag säga att tullen blir mellan 200-500kr.
I went with the A2, mostly because it was the only one I could get shipped to me in under 3 months lol.
I'm pretty excited. Any experiences with the A2?
Sorry, no experience with the A2. However, I see no reason why the A2 would be bad. You will most likely have a great printer!
have a merry Christmas
lower the music bg pleeeease
Thanks for you input. Have a nice day!
Does the a8 comes with filament?
Hi, thank for the video. I'm looking for my first 3d printer and i have a doubt. I understand that the A6 is slightly better then the A8, but how much is worth paying this difference ?
In my country the difference is around 40 USD (37 euros), which one you think I should buy ?
I would recommend the Anet A8.
Anet A6 is upgrade A8, more easy to assemble and with Large 12864 LCD screen, easy to operate. Some friend buy directly from Anet:www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Anet-A6-3D-Printer-with-Customized_60635309204.html?spm=a2747.manage.list.7.68ea71d2RQWvMs
Just started watching and already a little critic: the farb intensity is very high as one could see when you showed yourself, you look orange, and it doens't look natural at all, maybe set it down on the camera? Going to watch the rest now, have a good day, hope it might help :D

"Minor thing, you won't be using it too much"
What?! So you're suggesting keeping loud PC on while 3D printing?
The only way to print without the PC connected is to create a GCODE and store it on MicroSD. And to choose that GCODE and start printing you *need* to use that interface
I use the SD card exclusively and even though the buttons are a pain, it's not a deal breaker.
If I were you I would look into a Raspberry pi and Octoprint or Repetier Server and use the PI to run the printer, if you have an A8, there are enclosures on Thingiverse to put it with the printer main board.
Hey dude great videos! I want to print in a quality lile your Creality Cr10 prints but I have heard that if somebody do any upgrade(steel frames,V6 hotent,hotbed,etc..)the Anet A8 will be able to print like a 1000$ 3D printer, which means it will reach Creality Cr10 's level with approximately 200 euros. What do you you suggest me to do?Buy Creality CR10 (340Euros) or Anet A8(145 Euros)??
hello dude, how many days it took the printer anet A6 to reach you?
If ordered from Gearbest, it will take roughly 7-12 days.
thanks for you video, I speak Spanish but understand everything.
i was not really sure in how you clarified why the A8 was better you just said its superior but in everything you mostly said they came with the exact same things even tho it stated it came with different things yet when reviewing it you showed they were exactly the same things so how is it better can you actually clarify it ?
+dreamkiss4u I'm sorry I didn't make it more clear. The printers are basically the same, but the big difference is the community that has been built around the A8. There is more spare parts available, a lot more files on Thingiverse and since the A8 is much more popular people will be able to help you way easier than with the A6.
The A8 is also 160$ vs the A6 at 200$. Thanks for your comment!
oh ok thanks for elaborating on it further keep up the nice videos :-)
Can u also review the Anet a2?
Need help. Anet a6 or tarantula ?
great job dude. subed your channel.
Which one A6 or A8 is better for first 3D printer?
Wich printer should i get anet a8 or delta kossel
Well, the price difference is signficant. I've never tried out the Delta Kossel, in conclusion I think both printers will be a good deal.
Do i have to pay tax when it reaches Sweden if i order from GearBest?
Yes, it was sent by DHL and the total tax payment was 20$.
I don't get it, there were hardware items that were better for the A6, but the A8 is better?
Is gearbest really trustworthy? It looks to me like an ali express or wish webshop? Is there any chance you have to pay customs costs?
Gearbest is pretty similar to Wish and AliExpress, generally they are fine to buy from, otherwise they wouldn't exist. Yes, there might be customs fees.
Anet A8, Anet A6 or Anet A2 (not the plus), what is the best?! Im really confused lol
Check out my latest review of the TEVO Tarantula.
RCLifeOn thanks for the answer... the tarantula looks really good, but the gearbest don't have, and if I buy on the Ali express the costumer of Portugal take to muck time to clear the package.. is so much better than Anet?
considering the Anet a8, a2 or a6, what you recommend? the idea is put the auto leaving install to..
Is PLA toxic?
In solid form, no. In fact, Polylactic Acid (PLA) is biodegradable. It is often used in food handling and medical implants that biodegrade within the body over time. Like most plastics, it has the potential to be toxic if inhaled and/or absorbed into the skin or eyes as a vapor or liquid (i.e. during manufacturing processes).
Do both printers have the same printable area?
Yes they both have 200x200x220mm.
Thanks
Are you sure? On Banggood specs it says A8 is 220x220x230 and A6 is 220x220x250. Which is correct?
The A6 is larger. As was mentioned it is 220 x 220 x 250. Just bought one of these and the overall build quality is a lot better. It’s sturdier and that overhead mounted extruded is going to aid accuracy and stability.
Quick warning for anyone considering buying either printer:
I bought the A6 on gearbest, but quickly cancelled my order. I read on reliable sources that printers made out of acrylic are not a good investment, as the material in very very brittle and are prone to breaking either during shipping, assembly or after being used. Once a part is damaged, I wish anyone who wants to get a replacement from china or gearbest good luck.
The components of the machine are also of minimal quality, and there have been reports of machines catching fire.
Remember GearBest sent this printer themselves, and you have to remember this is basically free advertisement, plus they probably made sure to send out good machines for people to review.
I don't want to undermine RCLifeOn's review, as the printer can deliver good prints, but it's definitely a gamble to buy this printer.
I personnally ended up buying a Monoprice Maker Select V2, which is the next best thing I could find, and is a much more reliable printer than the Anet.
Just thought I'd share and spare at least one person from disappointment.
I've got the A8 a while ago. I've put it all together, leveled the bed and printed the Reddit Alien. It was the first time I printed something, I had no experience, but it turned out amazing. I don't have to make any mods for that.
Nice vid man!
I'm actually wanting to buy one of these two 3D Printers, but I'm having problems deciding which should I buy! My currency is the Euro and actually the price difference between the two is around 20€ at gearbest.
My question is:
Is the faster and esier assembly + free PLA + better Y axis arrangement + faster print speed + 0.4 máx layer height + ¿more rigidity & build quality? + ¿better parts? + more compact size + knob worth VS. greater community support + more supported materials + (whatever other advantages you could tell me) ???
Also, do I have to pay some kind of customs fee or something if I order it from Gearbest? (Shipping to Spain)
Thanks and congrats!
Yes, you will receive a customs fee of usually 20$ (though this depends in which country you live in).
Just go with the Anet A8. The A6 might have a slightly more robust frame, and a knob. But it's more expensive and the community support it really important.
Please tell me which software I see at 2.30 min!
+Giantursus It's a free software called Fusion 360. Good luck!
Thank you!
Does it come with heat bed
Nice vidéo man;) continue and i would lové to see à vidéo on thé best improvments for thé anet a8-6 see y'a:)
Thanks for your comment, have a nice day!
Can you do review at the ender 2 3d printer it has pretty good
If I can install my smoothieboard MKSBase and screen with this thing, then I am sold with the Anet A8.
I'd like to see the quality difference between the A8 and that giant $1000 speed monster you have! that would be great to see what $855 difference looks like!
The difference in price does not necessarily imply a greater printing quality. I see no significant difference in quality between the Delta ($900) and the Tarantula (200$). However, the Delta can print at much higher speed, is way larger, easier to assemble and is equipped with automatic bed leveling. I also wish to believe its safer to use as opposed to the Tarantula (quality control and such).
RCLifeOn VERY GOOD to know! thank you for the information and for replying! appreciate it!
doesn't the A8 come with fillament?
It does not,.
then i have to buy some xD. i bought it because i saw your video ;D
In fact, a couple of people have said that it does come with 10m rolls of ABS filament, but I would pruchase some just to be sure :) Besides, 10m of filament is like 1 small print...
ok thnx
and then i have to pay tax over the price of the printer+ import costs= fucking 67 euro :(
My Anet A8 came with injection moulded z axis brackets
Have these 2 printer hot bed?
Yes they have.
Nice video. thx
so the cheaper one is better?
Great video
Thanks a lot!
is this side trusting or not because this high sales
It's as good as any. Good luck!
RCLifeOn ok thx you are the best ytber Ever i like your videos
I want to make free prostheses for children with disabilities in my city. With this product can I manufacture durable prostheses?
a 3d printer is useless without 3d modeling knowledge , yes you can find a lot of things on thingverse, but there will be times when you want something and it's not in there and that's when you gota do it yourself.
my anet A6 didn't have that many upgrades ready for download when i bought it, but upgrading it made me learn a lot about 3d modeling since i had to download most of Anet A8 upgrades and modify them for the A6, if i remember even the x carriage was meant for converting A8's to the A6 style.
so yeah for the lazy ones that will dump it after a few months go get the A8 printing upgrades and trinkets will only last for so long, but when you will try to use it as a tool to make something with real use with any kind of precision, you gonna wish you had bought the A8
у А8 три направляющих подшипника под столом, а не 4 как тут показано
ABS or PLA?
PLA is non-toxic, way easier to print, can be printed without a heated bed and higher printing speeds. Though ABS has a higher melting point, longer lifespan and is very hard. Answer: PLA!
This or tarantula?
I just ordered my A8 3D printer. we see how it goes.
Good luck!
"going to hit 10k in no time"
Has 244k right now ;)
Anet A2 Review??
So in regards to printing limitations. Can it print any design off of thingiverse.com? For example. Could it print this?
www.thingiverse.com/thing:1209228
Yeah no problem. I've printed more complex objects than that.
Can you recommend some beginner CAD programs?
Designing or Slicing? If Designing i would go for Tinkercad!
