My biggest question is how the CN community all had this misconception, since Ellens sig has the same dmg% as Zhu's sig. Maybe becasue Zhu's dmg% is something you get in combat, while Ellen's is more of a passive dmg% (although I think you get it incombat aswell, jsut without any requirements), but if Zhu's sig had a multiplicative dmg%, then Ellen's should also have had it, in which case holy gyat it would have been so broken.
So a more basic way to describe it, similar to how things like this work in HSR, this modifies the input attribute (skill dmg) while the CN bros thought it modified the output (total dmg). Many suchcases.
"True multipliers" as you say that multiplies not attack values, not ether damage etc, are called in Maplestory as "Final %". As in they buff the final damage being launched as a whole

New videos and CN calcs have shown that the real reason CN TCs underestimated brimstone was because they only counted the w-engine’s enhancements to zhu yuan’s basic attack. So yes, CN takes L for being too used to standard mihoyo numbers.
TLDR : Gouba is HIM, the CN CC just overestimated the sig weapon thro a miscalculation, and gouba not only didn't do the same mistake but figured the mistake out for them

hmmm, doesn't this mean that with signature weapon (or any weapon that gives dmg%), ATK% on 5 rather than elemental dmg% becomes even better? Because you want ATK% and dmg% to be matched as that gives the absolute biggest value. Heck, also for the ones that give +ATK% in combat benefit from ATK on 5. I'm wondering if elemental dmg on 5 is a bad stat for most characters. For those wondering what the math is: Basically, think of the value of adding 1% attack to be equal to 1% times (1+dmg%), and adding 1% dmg to be equal (1+atk%), so if you have 50% atk and 0% bonus dmg, then 1% atk has the value of 1, while 1% bonus dmg has the value of 1.5, meaning 10% bonus dmg is worth more than 14% ATK in this case.

If u have disk/weapon/skill effect that give u 20% atk lets say, it will str8 buff u 2k(20%)=400dmg instead.

-my take is that guoba is wrong because it's very sus that hoyo, who is the one making the weapon, makes it so starlight is similar in output. -so far, across genshin, hsr, and now zzz. the sig weapons are always near 20% increase compared to base f2p. this is true for every single character's sig outside of healer weapons like the donuts. -that 20% is so consistent across hoyo games that it's pretty much guaranteed that the devs know something about the math of the game that we may all be bypassing. -one of the reasons i heavily dislike wuwa, is that signature weapons are not balanced at all. where you'll get more than a 40% increase in dmg over f2p options. -it would be weird that hoyo made a sig weapon, for a standard crit/dmg scaler that is barely an upgrade to a f2p 4* option. -serpent spine in genshin is the only outlier IMO and at least it requires 50bucks.
