- I love this anime and it was the first film I ever owned on DVD. This success of this one on the old channel surprised even me as like a ton of other videos I made this one primarily for myself. This is sort of an unofficial compare and contrast video as I look as some similarities and differences between this anime and Fritz Lang's 1927 classic.

I had to take this one down to tweak it for copyright reasons. Now I think it will stay. To watch the full version of this video go to www.youcantunwatchit.com
Apparently Osamu Tezuka never saw Fritz Lang's Metropolis. Instead he was inspired by a series of stills promoting Lang's film in a movie magazine.
I've never heard that before. That is possible. It wouldn't surprise me if Rintaro and Katsuhiro Otomo took inspiration from Lang's film more than Tezuka judging from the film itself.
Have you watched Madhouse’s The Diary of Anne Frank?
I didn't know such a thing even existed. How was that? The closest thing I have seen in that area is Isao Takahata's Anne of Green Gables anime adaptation (which was excellent).
@@DecultureReviews It was free to watch on RUclips and (according to an article I read) was done legally. Not gonna spoil anything from it but it is a forgotten anime film and had very few (or no) videos talking about it.
Also, Michael Nyman did music for that film.
I got the DVD
I still have that 2002 DVD. Its a good one. I even have the Japanese Blu-ray when that first came out and even the most recent Blu-ray here in the US. Here's hoping for a good 4K release in the future.
@@DecultureReviews i just hope Mill Creek doesn’t fuck it up
