Yay my comment was before yours lol
Y’all need to do a remake of Hayaty the Combat Butler
This was genuinely a moment. So much felt like it was going on, and it was all great
I'm not used to anime conversations being this clever.
Right!!?!? I'm was legitimately shocked by how good the Dialogue writing was!
agreed dialogue was great they put thought into it.
You should watch some Gintama.
Ever watched monogatari series? if you didn't you should the dialogues are so good they sometimes pass the entire episode with conversations you don't get tired and gets really immersed, note that there's a lot of japanese references and pun that will only make sense if you are japanese that's the only downside
@@Zero03241 yeh, monogatari si too japanesszy. if you are not Japanese or speak the language, it hard to even understand the double meaning most of the time

Odokawa's voice fits perfectly with my idea of a jaded and embittered 40 year old walrus. It's perfect.
Yes! I was kinda shook when I found out he has the same voice actor as Tanjiro
He sounds pretty young but I don't know Japanese so I don't fully know
@@aciiso2878 damn he plays Nicolas from Gangsta and Yuuki from Tensura as well as Tanjiro!
Should sound older, with a deeper voice. VA's not bad but Koichi Yamadera (Bato, Zenigata) would have been perfect
I mean he sounds 20
I love how he remains calm and collected when a "yakuza-type guy" threatens him with a gun, but he freaks out when his would-be girlfriend threatens him with dance move.
The amount of force generated from a perfectly executed kick by an alpaca is......very high.

The dialogue in the series has been very enjoyable for me.

The dialogue in this show is so good.
I love how they simultaneously blink. It really shows the chemistry between the two.
There's something amazing about the dialogue that makes it feel very unjapanese, or at least very unjapanese anime, not just all the none Japanese references either. And it's kinda awesome.
I doubt they’ll ever animate her doing capoeira moves, but I truly hope someone with artistic talent does
Joke's on you: the penultimate episode is Alpaca Lady going to town on some Yakuza fools in a meticulously-animate fight scene created in consultation with the world's leading capoeira masters (or so I hope, because that'd be awesome).
They did
@@HayabusaRyuu Yep, they sure did. And it was epic.
_That explains the kick transition in the OP..._
This anime looks so good actually i was mistaken judging without watching i thought it was some childish animal show or smht. Actually looks even more realistic than our usual anime
It hits the same place as Aggretsuko: a hyper-relatable anime about normal people doing normal things hidden under a disarmingly-odd veneer.
@@zenogias01 oh right i watched a bit of Aggretsuko it was good i just somehow forgat about it u reminded me
I gonna to say this in Advance but i dont believe they are really animals Is just a visual representation. Is a long talk if i have to explain this so just believe me and think in this comment when in some point the show shift to a súper realistic look and nobody understand what Is going on

I love how realistic the tone in their voices and their conversation are.
Hidden gem of this season. Absolutely love it.
When she does the dance fighting all i can see is memes " when the doom music kicks in"
I bet there’s gonna be a huge twist near the end of this. I’m liking it so far.
For me the twist of the series gonna be that they arent really animals. It Is just a visual representation and that explain the persons in oddakawa flashback being too human looking.
@@leonardobianucci6218 Yeah! I can't wait!!
@@leonardobianucci6218 Yeah man, i had that same thought. Watching one episode i was like: "it'd be really crazy if they are actually humans and the 'animals' we see is just some sort of visual filter"
@@gama103 for me a detail that seal it Is the first Time somebody mention a animal Is a joke.
Doctor: how you see me?
Odakawa: a gorila
Doctor: laugh* i cant denay it
Like i think this Is a clue. The doctor Is just Buff or look like a criminal (reason why he also have few clients)
A moment that make my doubt when the taxi drivers referes as a alpaca to well... The alpaca with the prhase: Is hard to forget you, you are the only alpaca around. BUT i think this could be just a missdirection and she being a alpaca means she Is latina. (She Is a animal from sudamérica that ALSO knows capoiera) so my guest Is that the alpaca think Is just a way to see Her etnia. My other points for this theory Is how some animals Fit too well their role in the story. The girl that run away Is a cat, the comedian who all deal Is that the joke about him Is a donkey (he make a donkey of himself for a living) etc.
Updating my theory the fact that the cat play a gacha about a zoo but nobody seems to thinks that the concept of a zoo Is strange Is More proof if you ask me. Otherwise they are playing a game equivalent to collection different races of humans in cells
This is the sleeper hit , man the show has so many questions and layers of depth.
The way they say Portuguese words honestly impress me at how easily they say it
Lots of portuguese sounds are present in japanese, and some of our rules are similar, so portuguese words are often said in an easier way than english
@@lemmy2776 i know. I can't hear the opening without my mom questioning the "kyoKU" part.
It makes sense for her to say it fluidly but Odokawa should have stumbled imo
I am a simple Brazilian.
I see Capoeira.

This was the first moment that made me laugh aloud, because of how *left-field* it is. From the un-dynamic camera angle, to the random musical cue, to the way Shirakawa runs into place for the shot, it's completely unexpectable XD
If you combine the wooly animal office lady aesthetic and the nihilism of the Walrus you get Sebun (Seven) from Beastars
I was thinking the same thing.
Is that romanji for 7? Or a different language
"Try saying that again, but meaner this time." It's hilarious how inexpressively passive aggressive that line.

This is secretly the best anime this season. But then I’m into anything with alpacas doing capoeira...
Her pronunciation of "queixada" was perfect
lhama mandando a capoeira :O
I love these character designs 😊
Some of the lines in this show and the way they're delivered make me feel less like I'm watching anime and more like I'm watching something by Tarantino or the Coen Brothers.
... Historically speaking, capoeira was known to be "deadly" back then because the slaves (and thieves) did use knives and razors when they were fighting.. thus making the movements more unpredictable than they already are
Btw this information is not important at all, i just wanted to share this information for no reason

She got strong moves. Better not mess with her!
I love how subdued the dialog is compared to other anime with more exaggeration. You can really hear the intonation of the Japanese language better when it's not as "acted" if that makes any sense.

One of my favorite scenes from this series XD
I swear I relate to this guy so damn much
Hey! Can i tell you a little about our beautiful fighting and dancing technique, the Capoeira?
Well, like some other martial arts around the world, Capoeira is also a dance, but not one that you would do in a party haha
In 1880 - 1930 praticing Capoeira was considered a crime, not only because it was created by african slaves, but because it was their main form of defense...
At that time, the police were very brutal and extremely racist against black people, even destroying their houses, which were not even a big deal since they were in areas that no one used.
Capoeira may look harmless and silly when you see a fighter in combat position, but remember, this was what they used against the police. a correctly performed kick can break a jaw or even cause head trauma.
The people that learnt capoeira, protected the comunities of black slaves descendents, and they were willing to make the police officers go to the hospital if needed.
In 1937, finally, by the efforts of master Jimba, Capoeira were no longer a crime.
Now, people still learns it, whether by culture, sport or self defense.
A fun fact: people at the comunities would "play" capoeira for disputes too.
If your wife were cheating on you, you could challenge the guy (lover) to a capoeira duel, betting your place in the community or just to humiliate the guy.
There was friendly disputes too, where they trained or just for a silly thing like who would do the chores and etc...
(Edit) another fun fact: The Capoeira kicks are considered one of the strongests kicks in the world! Our main kick is called Martelo Rodado, that means Spinning hammer, search on RUclips! It's an incredible move!
For us, descendents of african slaves, it's not just a fighting technique or dance... It's the fight for our rights and place in the brazilian society.
But we do not feel by any means offended when someone from other country learns it!
We actually REALLY LOVE when you guys portray Capoeira in some kind of media or just a photo.
It makes us proud to see that our movement went so far...
I hope you all liked my explanation.
My english is not very good, because as you can see, i'm brazilian and i never did a class of english... So yeah...
Have a great day, and stay safe.
Peace.
Your english is good actually, meu mano(a).
