I'm on the hunt for some mid century style lamps at the moment. There's great quality and savings to be had. When I find them I'll be ready to pounce❣p.s. your costume was gorgeous Kristen 🎃
Kristen have a look at Oliver Bonas furniture. The Ivar from Ikea could be hacked to look like similar furniture especially the cabinet. And Swoon also.

The white (or perhaps it was more ivory) sofa for $80 at the Mission thrift store was amazing. It is exactly the style and color that I am looking for, but I have never seen anything that perfect in any of the thrift stores near me!
WOW! I have been to several thrift store in the North Dallas areas and none of them look this nice. So many good items. Thank you so much for the ideas....I'm ready to go thrifting and check my luck. Great channel.
Thrifting is a amazing way to find beautiful things for your home. You have to have an open mind. I do not ever go looking for a certain item. I look for items that match my personal style. I have decorated my entire house this way.
The candle stick holders are a beautiful wood tone. I love that organic feature. The glass jar is also a great find. I collect cookie jars, so that is how I would use that one. Thanks for sharing your finds!
Oh I know what you are talking about in some other countries I have been to it was a mess and I never liked going my mom in the other hand would dive into that mess and find gems haha but when I see an organized thrift store I enjoy looking around and finding things
I just found your channel (May 2021) You are an inspiration. I'm 67, retired, and ready to do some "refurbishing". I'll be binge watching your videos for the next few weeks!!!
I work at a value villiage and always ask what the color of the week sale its usually a bit of dead stock soon to be removed and replaced by newer products its can be 20 to 50 percent off depending on the store. And we are constantly throughout the day putting more Items out. Still my main suggestion if your looking for bigger furniture items come right when we open.
Try working at Walmart for a year...that will cure anyone of their afluenza..talk about too damned much STUFF... useless throw away crap..and they just keep it coming. ...more and more stuff..it is mind boggling. Way too much stuff.
The thrift stores in my are are alot higher some of those things you showed would be double or triple the amount but it's not full price like the retail price
I regularly look for pet supplies at the thrift store. Correl plates are almost unbreakable for my cats if they knock them off their food station. Used spoons for wet cat food. Down comforters to keep my dogs warm at night. A while ago I found a king sized down comforter that covers both of them-$8. I recently bought a brand new children's Patagonia down vest that is perfectly sized for my cats bed--$9.00. I have bought men's wool sweaters for my cats' beds as well. Stainless steel bowls are a great find for water bowls for pets. Go Kristen-love your positive energy!
Αmazing finds!!!I loved the green vase best...and actually i like the color!!!It doesn't mean that change it to more neutral tones it wouldn't look awesome!!!!I wait till you transform that vessel to something new. Thrift stores are gorgeous, aswell flea markets, you can find so beautiful items there in affordable prices!!!I looove them!!!♥️♥️♥️
Kristen i know i am in my 60s but i wish you were my friend because you are so positive and would love to learn projects with you…. As retirement is around the corner i would love to learn to refinish furniture for hobby.
I took my wooden candle sticks painted white and glue a clear red snowflake on its end on the top. Added ribbon on base. It looks like a Christmas topiary.
I love that you talked about what you would do with different pieces to reimagine. That’s so helpful. You mentioned painting a few times. Will any paint work for furniture, a glass vase, etc? Or even ikea bookcases that are particleboard.
Glasspaint works best on glass, some stuff is glazed (usually shiny statues, the ones that are supersmooth) and glazed items are very difficult to paint with acrylic paint, it is easily 'scratched off.' White (latex) wallpaint and acrylic paint are what I used for most items, especially wood or terracotta-like materials. Usually it says on the back of the paint what can be painted with it. It is always advisable (if the product can handle that) to use some rubbing alcohol to clean any grease or dirt off the surface. Make sure to try on a tiny spot in the corner before you rub on the entire thing, just in case it takes paint, gloss or other effects off your statue/item.
Thrift store has got furnitures that are actually looks like new and in good condition...my favorite was the round table with four chairs. Thanks for sharing this you gave me so many ideas.
Love your channel. Was shocked you didn't SHOW that Gorgeous white cedar chest! I have Never ever seen one made like that! Can't believe it was in a thrift store! WOW someone got the find of the year 🥳
First time viewer. I love the green vase. Love the green. Hope you leave it the way it is. It reminds me if the ,70" s. I love vintage. Love your video.
I do remember you redoing your niece's bedroom and using the lighted cloud. I am anxious to see how the electric wall sconce and the vase turn out! Take care and God bless!
I wish we had this thrift store culture in Portugal, we only have very few small stores were people just send their old clothes that aren't in very good shape The concept of being able to buy furniture in very good shape while still affordable just amazes me
I agree that it pays to visit different 2nd hand stores (that’s what we call them in Australia). Your videos remind me to always keep an open mind and look past the item to see it’s real potential. I love that wall light - how awesome to find one that plugs in.
So many great deals! The Mission Thrift in Mississauga has beautiful furniture pieces plus tons of gorgeous decor accent pieces. I never leave empty handed!
If you regularly thrift, bring the following. Measuring tape, small flashlight, AA and AAA batteries, a 40 - 60 watt lightbulb. Ask to plug in lamps etc. A small magnifying glass is good too. When you are trying to picture if something will work, remember, spray paint is a savvy woman’s duct tape😉😷🇨🇦

Hey Kristen! Love your videos! I have a possible video idea. You mentioned it briefly in the video about reupholstering the couch! If you know how to do that I would LOVE to see it! I got a chair I need to reupholster! Also this video gave me SO MANY ideas!! I need to go to a thrift store ASAP! 🚗💨
My aunts doing this cool idea for fall and Christmas by making DIY reefs to hang on the door I think that would be so cool to see you do that and see how creative you'll get!!❤
WOW.. so your aunt is making a whole reef? To hang on a door? Now that is impressive.. I have seen people make wreaths to hang on doors..but never a reef.. Now THAT IS impressive! Will it be made of coral? How will she keep the water and fish in it?
Straight away I noticed that Value Village looks a lot like my fave local thrift store “Savers” in Australia - the layout, the shelf labels, the stickers on the items, and that wall with the little bags of like items look exactly the same! Googled and found out Value village are the same company 😄 I love visiting and rarely leave without buying something... and I got a 20% off voucher the other day too!!
I didn’t know it’s such a big company. I love going to value village for home decor but I only find good stuff once in a while but now That I watch her video bigger cities definitely have a lot more stuff. How about in Australia? Is it popular and do you find good things?
@@MariamHamdoun yes I would say it’s pretty popular. I usually find more at the store closer to me than the one a lot further away from me (yay!). I buy clothes, bags, home decor and books.
So glad you did this video! I am a huge proponent of reusing and recycling and what better way then thrifting and giving an item a new life with you! I prefer items that are unique and have a story or history of their own rather than big box store items that are so blah. Plus you are really doing the planet a favour by helping to reduce waste! It’s a win, win, win! I ❤️ thrifting!
Thanks so much for the great ideas! You are so imaginative! I am going to search for the door knocker and door handles. I will use them in the kitchen and new bath for towels and clothes hangers.
You remind me soooo much of myself when I go thrifting. The joy you get from not necessarily buying new, instead finding good quality items at a very affordable price.
I miss Thrift Town ... (in San Francisco). That wonderful thrift store and a few others closed in the last few years, and so there are less stores. Goodwill, The Salvation Army, and Community Thrift remain. I am poor, so I rely on thrift stores, and dollar stores.
I was just in VV today! I picked up two great frames, which are perfect as is, or I can easily spray paint them. I need to go back first thing in the day and spend quality time, looking at things a lot more.
Value village is my fave and if you’re over 55 they have a huge discount one day a week. Furnished my vacay condo from items there. It’s very boho. I love it and your channel!!
I do the scenes of artwork too per seasons. I just bought a beautiful beach scene for summer. I bought a set of two brass cherubs for Valentine’s Day display.

I saw the cutest idea on Pinterest of using a toddler car bed as a sandbox.
WOW that is genius!!
So cute and affordable
The white (or perhaps it was more ivory) sofa for $80 at the Mission thrift store was amazing. It is exactly the style and color that I am looking for, but I have never seen anything that perfect in any of the thrift stores near me!
I'm glad to know that the younger generation are thrift shopping..especially college students!! Very nice!!

That green vase is so earthy and beautiful. Leave it! It would go in any decor.
You’re right. Look past the original ugliness and focus on the potential. I’ll keep that in mind for my next thrift store trip. 😊
SO , so good to see a young person buying used items, very smart!
The green vase would make an amazing lamp. The swing arm light was a steal. Wow!
I WISH MY THRIFT STORE LOOKED LIKE THAT. I LOVE HOW NEAT IT IS.
The 1st place you went to is called Savers here in Southern California...and it's my FAVORITE place!
They got rid of the savers here in Lubbock I missed it
Your value village is clean and organized, ours makes me itch.
Don’t forget about a clear matte or sea glass spray paint 🎨 I’m excited for my next project! Thank you 😊
Ohhh! Sea glass would be so pretty! 😍
The big green vase is my favorite find. It’s a perfect neural green.
Yeah, I would never paint over that vase, especially with some basic spray paint that will look dated in six months. That vase is timeless as is!
@@jenniviiv I agree totally! I was hoping she would'nt touch it.
@@jenniviiv me too! I like those transparent vases. My favourite! And they are actually very trendy
Yes i also Love that wase as is😍
Yeah I clicked on the video because of that vase. It's so beautiful
When I feel like shopping I try to go to the thrift store. So much fun and takes my mind of the day to day worries.
I lovethe green vase. Don't paint it! I love it!
Wow!! No I sure do not have a huge thrift store like this at all, I love this store!
So much to see and find ❤️
None of the stores around my area pkg things so nicely an the shelves are often a mess! Nice

The clear Jar with the lid I have quite a few that I use in my pantry.....Love them
Door knocker would make a cute towel holder for bathroom! Fancy
LOVE that idea!!
Great idea
You gave good ideas on what to use the wooden bowls for. Thank you. Nice video.
Ooh I'm getting such inspiration from this, can you do a video on how you refinish wood tables and give them a new look?
Vintage doorknockers also make a great paper weight, on top of books for coffee table decor, or even for shelf styling ☺️☺️
I fell in love with the big green vase. I would not change the color.😍💕. Greetings from New York City🗽🤗
I love thrifting furniture and getting a high end look on the cheap! 👍😊🇨🇦

I pick up wood bowls all the time..light sand and food safe mineral oil..new bowl!
Looking for lighting for our new home. I didn’t even think about looking at a thrift store! Thanks for the idea!
I love that you are In Canada. And in the Toronto area. Yay. 🇨🇦
A clever thing to do is take a mother or aunt with you on senior day if your popular thrift store has that and have fun while saving money.
