  • Walk-through of how to diagnose and perform service bulletin for A/C servo motor replacement. Guest stated that her center passenger vent was blowing hot when it was set to MAX COOL setting. I verified the concern and fixed the issue, and the customer was happy they didn't have to pay a penny since they vehicle fell under the service bulletin. This is a common Lexus problem. Check in with your local dealer as soon as you experience HVAC (heating ventilation, air conditioning) concerns to see if you are covered under the service bulletin or extended campaign. You may be eligible for a free repair. Thanks for watching.

    So there is a much easier way. Loosen the 2 little silver screws all the way, that are on the outside of servo that you can see.
    This releases the servo from the mounting bracket. Then remove mounting bracket from new servo and install back on Car on old mounting bracket.
    Once you break the screws free which is very easy, you can remove and reinstall with your finger tips then snug up with Phillips. Sooooo much easier!
    Note slide the long mounting bracket screws back in the servo before insta😅lling servo on car.

      @harborareatech310 dude, I fought forever with that back screw. Then I looked at the new servo and said "wait a minute" lol I can just take the mount screws out.
      You have to lay on your back to get the bottom one next to heat pipe. Took me 5 min to get servo out and new one in if that.
      They're machine screws. So like I said. Once you crack loose you can spin out with your fingers, hands must be dry and not slippery. Put them back the same way.
      Try it out next time.

    Great video! I just noticed my RC350 was doing this about two months ago. Seems like a project I can handle.
    Question: I have that nasty smell when I first turn on my A/C. I can't do the evaporator cleaning where you spray cleaning foam using the drain line due to it being on top of the transmission. Would I be able to do that cleaning when I replace the servo? Is there a spot I can insert the spray or would I have to drill a small hole then plug it after?

    • @harborareatech310
      @harborareatech310  3 месяца назад

      Thanks! Always check with the dealer first to see if you're covered. If not, refer to the trouble code to see which servo motor is at fault.
      On your vehicle, it shouldn't be that hard to replace them.
      To answer your question, I dont remember off the top of my head, but you may have an access view of the evaporator through the inside of the vehicle toward the firewall center area on the passenger or driver side. If so, you can spray the evaporator through there. if not, you can always spray the outside cowl area with the a/c on max with the fresh air mode on and all windows closed. Then, always replace your ac filter with the charcoal style one, and when turning off your vehicle, ALWAYS leave your ac on fresh air mode to prevent excessive moisture buildup. That is what causes that mildew odor.

      So I was able to access the evaporator by removing the glove box, etc. I removed an adapter that was used for the floorboard a/c and from there I could see right into the evaporator. The only thing is you have to have the a/c settings set to Floor before turning off the vehicle so the floor port opens up. After that, I was able to spray the foam cleaner in there. I would check first to see if it is covered by the dealer. There is a secondary coverage customer support program that a lot of lexus vehicles fall under this program. i believe it's 7 years from the date of first use or 125k miles, whichever occurs first.
      To answer your question, though, a more advanced scan tool is required to initialize the servor motors. You can always download the lexus/toyota software "techstream" on to your laptop by looking it up. You would just need to buy the obd cable to connect from the laptop to the vehicle.

    • @harborareatech310

      No, if you replace the servo, you just need to make sure you are equipped with a scan tool capable of performing an ac system initialization. For optimum ac performance
