I’ve had the hot air issue resolved by the dealership but now mine gets stuck on defrost mode. The dealer states they fixed but continues to happen. Can you explain what servo motor or blend door actuator controls this function ?

You can replace the servo motor yourself, always refer to the stored trouble code in your vehicle to know which is the servo motor affected. You may have better results after just replacing the affected servo motor, but in order to have the optimum A/C performance, the initialization is required.
@@harborareatech310 Thanks.. I just ordered a cable from Amazon and when it gets here I will download the software and try to use it that way... @joelee5493 thats a good idea! in order for it to actually qualify for the extended service campaign repair, the servo motor troble code needs to be stored and active after the reprogram. sometimes, the reprogram takes care of it. Maybe that was your case in the past. From what i noticed, hot areas are affected the most by this issue.
@@harborareatech310 After the cable gets here that is the plan. Since this has happened before... question is, what bad would it be if replaced them all since the dash will be taken apart already??

Hello, great video. I was wondering if the process is similar on a 2013 GS350 AWD. I have a code B1443 and dealer says $2400 to replace bad servo motor. I missed the recall period because I wasn’t aware of the bulletin. Is that motor also accessible without pulling the dash? I would love if you could do a video on the GS350. A few other members in our GS facebook group is also interested in this. Thanks.
Hey, thanks for watching and the comment. I will try to answer as best as i can. It has been a while since i ve replaced that one. But i believe you can do all servos on the GS 350 without removing the dash. That is the largest one on the driver's side, and i believe it is the same concept as the one in the video, if not very similar. If the opportunity arises, i will make a video. If you are local to the los angeles CA area, i can make a video for the GS community.
Wow, I’m so impressed on your quick response. I wish I was in LA, but unfortunately I’m in Boston MA. Any additional information on how to replace would be greatly appreciated. If you know the part number for the servo motor would also help. I’ll also check in the user group if anyone having this issue is in the LA area. Thanks
Greeting good sir, where do you find this repair manual? I’m looking to purchase one for Lexus NX and RX series! Any tip would be greatly appreciated. You’re awesome
I have manuals because I worked at the dealership. If you want repair manuals you would probably sign up for some sort of autor repair database like All Data or Mitchell.
Nice video, I have a 2016 gs350 driver and passenger take turns being hot, cold or won't blow at all. I did replace my battery about 6 months ago but i didn't notice a problem right away. I noticed it after being out of town for a couple weeks without using the car. You said the servo motors are supposed to be re-initalized, does that have to be done at the dealer or can i do that another way like with a Blue Driver obd tool?
I would check first to see if it is covered by the dealer. There is a secondary coverage customer support program that a lot of lexus vehicles fall under this program. i believe it's 7 years from the date of first use or 125k miles, whichever occurs first. To answer your question, though, a more advanced scan tool is required to initialize the servor motors. You can always download the lexus/toyota software "techstream" on to your laptop by looking it up. You would just need to buy the obd cable to connect from the laptop to the vehicle.
@@harborareatech310 Thank you, really, thanks it's appreciated. Obviously you're a good tech with a knowledgeable and accurate answer. I guess even if I bought a servo motor, there are multiple and I wouldn't know for sure which to buy? And lastly, even if I get the right one and I replaced it, then it won't work right because it needs to be initialized?
@mattdi333 you need a scan tool capable of retrieving trouble codes from the body control module to determine which servo motor is at fault. After replacing the servo motor, if you dont intialize, you won't experience optimum perforformance
I have a rc 2019 my servo #1 87106-30510 is going bad Lexus quoted me 3k+ to replace it. I’ve bought the servo that’s going bad and I want to replace myself but if I disconnect the battery is anything else going to deprogram? Also if I replace the servos myself is it mandatory that they need reprogramming?
@josephribs if you disconnect the battery and/or replace a servo motor(s), they would need to be initialized for optimum performance. If not, they most likely would work but not at its best performance. Ch3ck out my video ruclips.net/video/Ad2X1XXt3Sc/видео.htmlsi=-8IJsXdISHzg2Yxp This is an affordable scan tool I recommend al toyota and lexus owners to have. It is capable of performing the servo motor initialization and many more functions.
Hello I just took my RCF to the dealer for this same issue, looks like it’s not covered under warranty anymore. I have trouble codes B1441, B1443, & B1453. They said the dash needs to be removed as well is there anything you recommend to avoid that or which servos to replace
@Loudbasshead_ I don't remember the RC-F off the top of my head, but I believe it's similar to RC. If so, it can be done without removing the whole dash . Accordimg to the codes you gave me, you have 2 servo motors on the driver side, and one on the passenger that are at fault. I would recommend changing only the servos triggering active trouble codes
@@harborareatech310thanks for the reply! Would you happen to know which ones exactly to buy and replace Lexus is charging over 2800 and sadly out of warranty with the CSP
Are the 3 motors shown in the video during the repair accesible to replace without removing the entire box? And for the driver side as well? Thanks in advance!
First, check with your local dealership to see if your vehicle either falls under the technical service bulletin or service campaign. If it does, then the repair will be covered through them. If not covered, then you will need to obtain the trouble codes recorded in your vehicle in order to see which servi motors are affected
Ive taken my RC in for the recall, both centers were blowing hot while AC was at 68. They fixed it but now I'm back to all driver side vents blowing hot and all passenger vents blowing cold. Is this still covered under the recall, or do I need to pay to replace the servos? And which servo is it for the driver side? just want to prepare my bank account if payment is due lol
Hi, just wanna pick your brain, if the error code is B1453 as shown on techstream, on a RIGHT-HAND drive car (Japan), is it still the same servo motor on the left side of the vehicle? Does the error code mean different part for RHD vs LHD or is it the same, regardless?
@@harborareatech310 Yes, turns out you are right, mate. In your video, you done it on the passenger side, in your opinion is it easier or harder to get to on the driver's side? Also, can I just simply unplug it after re-initialization so that it doesn't ever blow hot air?
Hmm... read through the bulletin and it seems that there is a need to flash a new calibration to the ac amplifier and that would solve the servo motor issue? Instead of replacing them.
Hello ,any chance you can help me by pointing out where to find B1443 servo on RHD/UK model,is it passenger or driver side?I sourced the code and it's 43 displayed on the climate control , symptoms no air going through console vents and no memory stored for AC.Thank you in advance.

@michalnowak3558 I'm not sure about that vehicle. We dont have that model over here. But if it's anything like the IS350, it will be on the driver side top servo motor, which is the biggest servo motor. It can be done without removing the whole dash, only the driver side knee air bag, and a couple of covers need to be removed. It went bad when I changes my temperatures to cool and my air vents wont blowing like it before i changed to heat. Sorry for the incorrect sentences. Please any advices would help.
No, if you replace the servo, you just need to make sure you are equipped with a scan tool capable of performing an ac system initialization. For optimum ac performance
So there is a much easier way. Loosen the 2 little silver screws all the way, that are on the outside of servo that you can see. This releases the servo from the mounting bracket. Then remove mounting bracket from new servo and install back on Car on old mounting bracket. Once you break the screws free which is very easy, you can remove and reinstall with your finger tips then snug up with Phillips. Sooooo much easier! Note slide the long mounting bracket screws back in the servo before insta😅lling servo on car.
@harborareatech310 dude, I fought forever with that back screw. Then I looked at the new servo and said "wait a minute" lol I can just take the mount screws out. You have to lay on your back to get the bottom one next to heat pipe. Took me 5 min to get servo out and new one in if that. They're machine screws. So like I said. Once you crack loose you can spin out with your fingers, hands must be dry and not slippery. Put them back the same way. Try it out next time.
@Vergitas623 If you catch it in time the dealer should cover it according to the bulletin/service campaign. If not it can be a bit costly. Always consult your local dealership for more information before anything!

@@harborareatech310 I will try it just in case.. If it doesn't work I still take the dash apart. Not looking forward to that but it is def better than paying $2400
Thanks

Hi you guys. I'm in South LA and I need my servos serviced. Can I volunteer my 2016 gs for the video? Thanks in advance regardless. Great video bro. 👍
Awesome, thank you.
@yonathanbehailu4185 No problem, thanks for watching!
@@harborareatech310thanks again, it is much appreciated.

Wow 3k dollars sheesh, I have 58,000 miles on my 17 is350. Thank God it was covered by Lexus warranty.
I am having this problem in the driver side vent. Any advice?
The service campaign is 7 years 125k miles

Hi, just wanna pick your brain, if the error code is B1453 as shown on techstream, on a RIGHT-HAND drive car (Japan), is it still the same servo motor on the left side of the vehicle? Does the error code mean different part for RHD vs LHD or is it the same, regardless?
@ezyoffice I never worked on the right hand drive version, but my educated guess is that it would be located on the opposite side of a LHD vehicle

You can try to contest the issue at the dealer, and if you are persistent enough, they might goodwill the service, but it is not guaranteed.

You are a great dude! Appreciate your input. Interested in earning my business?
i have code 41 on my is250 2015 is that the servo motor?
So there is a much easier way. Loosen the 2 little silver screws all the way, that are on the outside of servo that you can see.
This releases the servo from the mounting bracket. Then remove mounting bracket from new servo and install back on Car on old mounting bracket.
Once you break the screws free which is very easy, you can remove and reinstall with your finger tips then snug up with Phillips. Sooooo much easier!
Note slide the long mounting bracket screws back in the servo before insta😅lling servo on car.
@bliffblam interesting, never done it that way
@harborareatech310 dude, I fought forever with that back screw.
