my favorite sax performance 👏to date. This brother puts a hurting on his instrument. Speaking volumes on the sax like he's telling a story. Speak on brother 👏 👏👏👍
Thanks for posting, Troy. Magnificent composition & soulful playing. Mind blown! Sheer artistry, all four musicians, but you and Silvano M. make an amazing team in every outing.
With that playing you must be really sensible. But you have also reached a state of maturity with the instrument, you're a master! Saw you with Joey D a few months ago in Mataró (Catalonia), I was in front of you at the first row and you steal my heart (in a musical way). If you come to Catalonia, I'll be there!
bro we need to get you cats in Detroit been following you since the MySpace days. so glad your still killing it. hope to link up with you one day. thanks for the great content.
Cheers Andy, I'd love to with my band sometime soon! I was there in April with Joey DeFrancesco, we played a couple of nights at Ronnie's, was a blast!
And you're from......Adelaide? Wow. That tone! That...definitive articulation! That....DARING! How did you get OUT? I WANNA CATCH THAT TROY TRAM TO BIRDLAND!
@@toyrobot99ToyRobotMusic I am very impressed. And the fact that you replied to my comment positively even got RUclips excited, sending me a happy albeit mildly surprised notification! I'm happy to tell you that one of your buddies, Mr #TivonPennicott is one of my top 3 Instagram supporters. It means a lot, to the most disrespected artist/musician in Australia, to have a jazz aficionado 'like' some of my challenging, confronting posts. But I am trying to do a Good Thing all the same. I never thought I would have to snarl and scratch, to benefit someone else! New York was where it all started. You're inspiring me, Toy Robot, Inspirobot! , to think of a way to get back there, for a short stint. I'd need some sort of scholarship or grant. But I'm thinking of a series of paintings , live, I paint while you and Tivon play, at say, Blue Note. The Hottest New Wave, 50 years from the Thelonious, Parker, Coltrane, Dexter Decade, you'd nominate your own, and give me some more 2019 Jazz Giants, and I'd paint each one in the style of their Jazz hero, in the same composition as the cover of their favorite Great on Great's Best Blue Note album. I have an exhibition at the end, and donate part proceeds to a body that supports younger generations, especially players who give up everything for jazz. That's brave, in these times. I got in to university to do jazz, but I couldn't stand all the 19 year olds rabbitting on and I was still drawn to rock'n'roll. But I wouldn't be able to sit there, painting and listening to you guys all day, and not get my horn out! It'd kill me! So maybe my music role is like a novelty. My province is rock and guitar solos. I'm there to make people laugh. I specifically avoid competing with the New Wave of Toytranes and Bluecotts. :) My primary role is painting you, marketing jazz with live art, but if, like now, I'm listening to Monk's Dream, and I think "that opening arpeggio - It's not THAT far off Stairway To Heaven...If I were in the audience, watching these dudes going for it, being painted by some weirdo in the corner, yeah , cool, up until at the second last chorus of Monk's Dream, said weirdo gets up, brush down, sax up!, and starts swinging #JimmyPage around, until someone in the audience gets it, and they're starting to hum: "and... she's....a buying..a doodledie do do do.. a Stair- way-ay -ayayay ...to'eaven YEAH"! That's when the Rock Turkey goes back to her painting of Tivon in the same pose as Dexter Gordon on the cover of Our Man In Paris. You guys take up the Stairway link and solo your ways up to SaxHeaven. I'd be laughing. I'd wanna see what the weirdo painted that Toyrobot as! And what surprise rock'n'roll guitar solo happens to fit The Red Cat! But that's me. Weird. Who'd pay me to do that? I dunno. But it's the seeds of a way out of Adelaide. Thanks, Troy, I like this Tram...:)
Greetings, Troy. After your speech in the city of Dnepr (Ukraine), I fell in love with your creativity and fascinating appearance. I hope you will return to us. Good luck in your career.
one of my top fav modern era sax players. way up top. TR would sound great on any horn but I miss the Conn sound. That SBA is nice but that Conn seems to ‘get to it’ a little more. God’s speed JoeyDeFrancesco🌟💫 Very Sad to hear this news. Keep on Flying Mr Roberts 🌞✨
Hey Troy, I watched you last night with Joey D at Ronnie Scotts and you blew me away! Inspirational performance! Thank you for giving me incentive and motivation to develop my playing! May I ask which silver sax that was? Articulate edgy tone was amazing!
Thank you very much David!! That was my 1951 Super Balanced Action, a new toy for me, and my first Selmer. Its a nice one! My other main horn is a 1932 Conn Chu Berry.
a tune that sticks with you

Thank you. We are devastated about the passing of our brother Joey D...
So fucking good
Another great performance. You're all over that Conn! Hey is that a V16 mpc? What prompted the change?
Yes, I switched to the V16 T9 early this year. Just for something a lil different..

toyrobot99 Thanks very much for the info and for taking the time to reply! Hope to see again next time you're in London!
@@toyrobot99ToyRobotMusic Did you play on a 10m at one point? You are amazing on all of the horns you play.
@@darylbeebe6517 Thank you! Yes, I borrowed a friend's 10M on a trip in 2011 where I didn't travel with my horn.
You have Brecker’s silver SBA now?
