I wanna see Ari with Herbie. Mind-blowing.
Herbie who? Nichols would have been cool, but he's long gone.
11 beats nice
This is beyond incredible. But not surprising. Ari is a master, and surrounds himself with only unique cats.
This is the shit!
my god the level of intensity they reach at 12:36 is amazing and lack of any release till the very end is just incredible, killer group
i finally figured it out! Ari is playing with magic wands instead of drum sticks, thats why he's so good
The wand chooses the drummer!
Ive only just heard of Ari and all I can say is 'THIS IS TOP WORK!!!!!!!!
Nobody mentions the piano player ?
That was amazing conversation going on
Mind blowing!
sublime.
thank you
the communication between the band is amazing
Awesome!
what a lovely ballad!
this was so exciting
Fabulous...
that escalated quickly....
amazing
Such joyful music, I hope I can play like these guys one day!
This is groovy.
Heavy but silky.
Fantastic
11/4 i like this very much!! Yea Ari !!!
Holy Shit!!! Ari is incredible!! And so is his band!!
Love the quote of Cheek to Cheek
grande .....Ari.
Guys are real good , liked and you have a great weekend.
WOWww they are all KILLIN!!!!! To me Ari is really one of the greatest drummer....and he is so unique.....
Ari's uuse of space makes me think of brian blade a lot
Right, because Ari learned from Brian?
@@jputterman26 really? :0
@@blopa5893 LOL
@@jputterman26 :(
This is some of the coolest shit ive ever seen!. Thank you guys for this. ARIII your the man!
Ari! eres un genio! :,D
god damn!!!!
Ari N° 1
❤
I really dig Ari's use of space.
wowowowow
omg my mind
spiderman on drumns!!!!amazing!!!bravi!!!
GREEEAT
11/8 time
You could also just think of it as being one bar or 6/4 and one bar of 5/4. What Ari is playing over top at the beginning is an 11/8 pattern which fits evenly over the 6 and 5, which you guessed it, equals 11/4.
Good god almighty!! For a second I thought I heard All Blues somewhere...
6:23!!!
That's what Monk taught us.
jeeeesssuuuuussss
amazing! Ari is top league.. btw, 8:30 is remarkable
hummmmm
6:27 ahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!
for me it's 8:04 and the resolve :S OW!! hehe
HOLY THOSE SAXOPHONE LINES OMGGGGGGGG
nice eleven☆
Good god dammit... that is awesome.
all blues in 11/8 is like ipanema in 7/8, it seems hard until you try it.
WOW
this is absolutely fucking startling
Very simply at least as far as the bass/piano l.h. riff goes, it's 3/4, 3/4, 3/4, 2/4, or any variation you prefer to count, with Ari's insanely clever superpositions over the top.
Brooklyn Brothers - Apple Juice
Also, at the end they go into a faster 6/4 and 5/4 and transition into a Vijay Iyer sorta like-ratio 4/4 and 7/8. Heavy shit!
Another student of Ed Soph’s (unt jazz labyrinth)
Щееет!!!)))
Gary Clark Jr. on the sax!! lol, they sound great!
Tivon Pennicott is the sax player
Cool
How to play like this?
hi travy: )
What's the timing?
What microphone was used to record this?
Zoom h4n
3:17 is hot!
that was so heavy, it was ridiculous. Geez!
That was different in an intensely good way.....
oh god what the fuuuuuuuuuck
Wtf who plays in 11/8. Ugh Hoenig I just can't
Crazy stuff
It's more like 11/4
3,3,3,2
11/8 bro its still ternary :)
the pulse is quarter based instead of 8th note based though.
i wonder if Miles on his tune could hang with these time signatures. or if he would a gotten lost like the rest of us old stiff fucks in a 4/4 5/4 3/4 rut
Excessive Monkification and confabulation of musical constellations. Kinda pretty, though.
No such thing.
