This is a frickin’ MASTERPIECE. Their voices are just perfection together. Two of the most amazing women ever. My brain exploded when Helen sang a line of “Both Sides Now” by Joni Mitchell. I’d have killed to have seen her cover that song!
God, I love them. I am so sad for America these days and what the radical Christian right has done to obliviate womens' rights. We need women like this back. They make me remember what it was to be a happy, proud woman.
That has to be one of the longest melodies I have ever heard. And one of the best too. Carol held her own along with Helen - one of the best female vocalists ever.
So happy they were great friends. Honestly I think they were friends with everyone. They were the loves of the town ....Hollywood, Palm Springs, New York, Bel Air, Malibu.
Besides churning out hit record after hit record Helen Reddy was adept at variety show sketches and, ultimately, proved a hit on Broadway. A very strong personality, she was straightfoward and perceptive. She has returned to singing and sounds the same!
First Lady Betty Ford saw this on TV at the time and asked Carol and Helen to perform it as the White House for a State Dinner President Ford hosted. That's the night she danced at the White House with the President of the United States.
It's a thrill to be able to see these wonderful performances I never got to see at the time. Great entertainment! Thanks for this clip. Thanks Helen for the pleasure given.
Okay, it's cheesy and corny; but I love cheese and corn!! Nobody does this type of thing anymore; fun, goofy, innocent and entertaining. Two greats of show business; Carol and Helen. I miss those days.
What fun and great performances from these two talented women. True entertainment. Helen was everywhere in the 70s. May she rest in piece. Covid and Helen passing along with an important election.
what a great show and what great super stars performing together. Amazing and wish I saw the original broadcast. This is a great recap of so many favorites.
I love Carol and always will, but why would they think this is a good idea? Maybe things were different back then but it seems like something only your grandmother would enjoy.
Performers did medleys together back then because they COULD. This takes an enormous amount of talent: singing ability, ability to sing harmony, ability to perform routines, ability to memorize the original lyrics and the added lyrics in a very short amount of time. I liked it back then and I like it now... and I ain't no grandma.
@@marthawelch4289 With all due respect, if you were so into something that is 49 years old then you more than likely ARE grandma age whether you want to admit it or not. There's nothing wrong with being a grandma or being that age.
@@k.wilkie3814 With all due respect back to you I don't care who knows my age or my status as a grandmother. Age 69 and not a grandmother because I could not have children. Turns out that's generally a requirement to get to be a grannie. I checked the comments just 5 minutes ago and your negative opinion is in the tiny minority. But you are entitled to your opinion because the America in which I grew up allowed people to disagree and not get the crazies about it. I will continue to enjoy these two virtuosos performing together. And, finally, I hope you have a good rest of your life.
wow... i do not remember Carol ever being 'fat.' when i think of carol burnett, i think of gangly... how odd. wonder what year this was? was she always a bit pump and i never noticed lol? i think of her as tall and skinny. odd how times change. women now are the size of toothpicks. maybe that's what's going on.
@@65minimom I guess it's all a matter of opinion. Julie Andrews had a beautiful voice operatic very fifties and sixties and saccharine Reddy's voice was very unique distinct and no doubt beautiful.
I happen to love Helen Reddy's version version with her so much better! And by the way Helen Reddy and Carol Burnett were also very good friends maybe not as much so as Carol and Julie.
In all due respect Carol was not known for her singing but her comedy, Helen Reddy was known for her Golden Voice! But the two together and it's heaven
Helen should have done more of this kind of Music. Her voice is incredible.Loved the Carol Burnett Show. Most TV is garbage today.
HONOR THIS TALENTED SINGER INTO KENNEDY CENTER.
This duet was WONDERFUL!!

She was an amazing woman

Wow these two were perfect together. They could have sold out arenas if they wanted.
That was beautiful 😍 love both of them
RIP Helen one of my all time favorites...A TRUE CLASS ACT
This is the best thing I have watched in years. What unbelievable talent.
Totally agree! I’m having a Farewell Helen evening and this is as good as it gets. Wow!
@@wandering_armadillo That is what I did. I had done Mac Davis the night before when I knew he was ill.
It's 2023,still love 💕😘

That is literally the best singing that I have ever heard from either of them!
So good!
God bless and RIP dear Helen!!!❤❤❤
always loved Carol...But Helen's voice is heaven!

What an extraordinary marathon! RIP Helen :(
Two lovely and talented women. RIP Helen Reddy.
Carol is such a great singer and I regret she wasn't celebrated nearly enough for this!
Yes. And she'd be holding her own, singing with world class performers such as Helen Reddy or Carpenters.
What a cool show . CAROL ROCKS
And Carol rocks and Helen Reddy hits it out of the park!
2 phenomenal women! may helen rest in peace

Her parents were entertainers and she she was born to it! Amazing!

What wonderful memories so good what a pair of characters just love it 👌💙
Carol restrained her normally loud voice very well in this clip.
HELEN REDDY (1941 - 2020)
So 😭😭😭😭 🌹🌹🌹 ❤️❤️❤️❤️.
Carol Burnett did this same duet with Julie Andrews at one time.
One of my favorite Carol Burnett musical scenes from when I was a kid. So Great!
Amazing, incredible, awesome! I'm in love all over again... with both of them! I get lost in these magnificent harmonies!
Their harmonies were great together their voices especially Helens were pure silk!
what a great show and what great super stars performing together. Amazing and wish I saw the original broadcast. This is a great recap of so many favorites.
Glorious!
This is a masterpiece...I have heard it hundreds of times since the original broadcast and I am captivated every time.
HR’s hair NEVER looked better.
Elegant.
So precious and beautiful! Thank you so much for turning my day right side up!
Wow thank u for sharing! I love this
Agreed. .
This is the same medley Carol sang with Julie Andrews at Carnegie Hall
+Payton Kane Yes but so much better with Helen
Payton Kane Lincoln Center. 😎
So great to see the incredible talent of Carol Burnett, I don't remember seeing this during the run of her show. What year was this?
What year was this recorded in??
Recorded in 1977
@@bearballin Thanks for letting me know!! 😊

Is there a list of these songs?
What year was this ?
i thihk 1975
According to IMDB, it was February 1977.
Helen Reddy with Anita Bryant looking hairdo.

liwmld - The aspect ratio is badly distorted in this, plus videotape makes people look fatter. She really was tall and skinny.
I was noticing how large she appeared next to Helen in this clip.
IMDB says it was February 1977.

Julie did it better...
different styles, both great - Julies is classically trained vocalist, Helen is pop - also, in real life Carol & Julie are best friends
