Agree. 100% I dislike profanity, too However, i never could relate to the crude situational humor that Burnett specialized in. Each to one's own preferences.
It's impossible to watch the last few minutes of this and not be in tears. The networks, producers, sponsors all offered Carol another year or two, but she knew it was time. America's tastes were changing, and Carol's final ear-tug ended an era we're unlikely to ever see again. I'm so happy we had this time together.
Over forty years later and it still hurts to watch her go. I rarely go a week without watching these treasures on RUclips and wishing for a simpler time when comedy was genuinely funny.
Carol's most recent appearance was on the black & white newly-filmed segments in the final episodes of BETTER CALL SAUL, which ended this past summer. She played Marion, who gets a laptop as a gift.
I was born in 1970. I have blocked out a lot of my childhood memories, but Carol and friends became my "family" I will never forget. Still bring me JOY today! THANK YOU!!!
Whatever else people my age (almost 61) can take from this, these were the performers we grew up with. Legends all. And Carol was in our house every week making us laugh our collective asses off. Thank you Carol.
Every child has an outlet to rely on when things are tough going. This show was mine. I don't know what children have today, but I thank God I grew up when this show aired.
Same here! As I watched this I had a memory of lying on my mom's bed with her and my little brother and sister. We were poor, Mom often had to work a second job at night, and and there was a lot of chaos, uncertainty, times we didn't have that much to eat. But that night watching one of her shows we did nothing but laugh. And sometimes that can get you through another few weeks or a month of written times. I hope she knows what she meant to so many of us.
Mine, when I was real young, was repeats of these that appeared (before or after, can`t remember) the Muppet Show, though I was not even alive when those were filming.
Its now the year SEPTEMBER 22, 2023. When Carol burnett show came on I was in front of my tv set, never missed a show till the last show. I felt like a family member had died. But I'll always have reruns. God bless the entire cast and crew because there will never be another comdey variety show like the Carol Burnett Show.!
I was 12 and finishing the sixth grade when the Carol Burnette show ended. I had a sad feeling in my stomach when I found out this was her last show. My family and I watched this every Saturday night for years. My childhood was amazing. However, adolescence and adulthood have had many ups and downs. This show brings back the best years of my life. I'd give everything to go back to the 1970s.

@@philthomas8351 Oh and also I HAVE to agree with your initial comment. Carol Burnett and Lucille Ball are easily the two most iconic, the most incredibly talented and best comedic geniuses to EVER grace the television! I remember as a boy, my Mom LOVED I Love Lucy. Later on she watched the re-runs. Back then my Mom's hairstyle was very close or similar to Lucy's hairstyle. It was kinda funny but my Mom resembled Lucille Ball. Even my Mom's voice was kinda loud and brash like Lucy could do. As for Carol Burnett? I LOVED her "Variety show" or whatever they called it. I called it perfectly casted, extremely well written, top notch acting, and COMEDIC GENIUS! This show was the perfect example of just what incredibly wonderful comedic television shows were capable of! These two ladies are the two most beautiful, amazing, iconic, and incredibly talented women on the planet. They paved the way for other women to become famous and get television shows/series after they were gone. These are two of the ALL-TIME BEST EVER, PERIOD!
@@EdsterIII My Dad watched Carol Burnett in the 1970s. I was working at night - newspaper company. But saw them a few years later on cable tv, I believe. Enjoyed them greatly. Ok, I remember being a little girl when the series finale aired and bawling my eyes out. Mom had to explain to me that Carol and Vicki and Tim and Harvey were all still alive and well. I thought if they weren't on my tv every week, they were gone off the face of the earth. Grew up to be a journalist and got to interview Tim and Harvey together in Vegas. They were everything I'd ever wanted them to be in real life and more. Extraordinarily funny, kind, and generous with their time. One of the absolute highlights of my life!
You never watch a Carol Burnett Show and ask yourself, why am I watching this? Your laughter gave you the answer. I grew up in the 60's watching this show every week with my parents. Thank you Carol for the hundreds of hours of family time!
I remember watching this when it first aired. It was so sad. We watched The Carol Burnett show religiously. It was a sad night, but she did the classy and right thing by ending it while it was still good. Thank you to all the people that made the Carol Burnett show!
The ending was very emotional for all us fans of this show😢 I shed a tear myself.. When Tim Conway,Vicki Lawrence and Harvey Korman walked by, I knew that they were holding back their tears.. Carol was trying to hold back her tears when she sang that song, but she sang it like a real trooper.. The best variety show ever.. Their will never be another one like it..EVER.. God bless✝️❤️ P.S. Watching Harvey walk by kind of surprised me because I was wondering why he was not featured in the show itself (except for clips from previous shows). Maybe he couldn't get there in time for the whole show. Seeing Jimmy Stewart there and her reaction was also priceless.

This show was truly a national treasure. I have many fond memories of watching it with my family and laughing like crazy. I still enjoy watching it. I had not seen this episode before so I am thankful that it has been posted here to give me that opportunity. Thank you so much to the cast, crew and all of those who made this show happen. Most of all, thank you to Carol Burnett for sharing such sweet footnotes at the end of this episode. XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO
My wife and I met Carol a few years back after her show at the Niagara Falls Casino during a meet and greet. She was so friendly and lovely to us. Such a sweet lady. We'll always love you, Carol.
My mother, who was the greatest human being I will ever know, loved this show. I used to watch it with her and my father when I was a young kid. I remember my mother laughing to the point of tears sometimes at Carol and her merry band of misfits. I love those memories and I want to thank Carol for making those memories possible. You will never read this, Carol, but I have loved you like family since I was a boy. You gave me some of the best memories I have of my dear beloved mother. You were part of our family.
I’m an 80’s kid and I remember many many times watching The Carol Burnett Show with so many loving family members that I’ve lost most of at this point. Great memories with Great people! ♥️🥰💯

This show is like fine wine…better with (my) age. Tim Conway was a writing genius week after week but no less props to carol, Harvey or Vicki Edit can’t forget Lyle 😘 ❤️
I remember that "CBS Special" Intro. I was a kid. It usually meant a Christmas special was on. YEAH! RUDOLPH! My mom always kept up with when they were on. I was allowed to stay up late to watch this show. I will always love it. Thanks mom for everything. Miss you. 💖
When she was in Buffalo to give a show at the Shea's theater a little while back, I recall reading how much pleasure she still gets over seeing how many young people love watching her.
I love you Carol! Thank you for making my youth extra special every week when I got to curl-up on the couch with my loving family and enjoy the fun! Wow... TV was once Fun, truly... unlike today! Oh those precious memories!
Carol, hope your birthday is simply marvelous today! Words can't tell how much happiness you've given others through your delightful entertainment; it's an immeasurable amount. You're the best. I'm sending you much love and hugs from Northeast Pennsylvania. ❤️
In 1967 I was 5 years old... and I remember watching this show all my life from the time it started until it ended. I suppose some of it was a bit risque, but I also suppose that my Mama understood that the "adult" humor would pass me by. I thank you so much for showing this video... I cried, I laughed, and just had a wonderful experience watching this. I don't recall ever seeing the finale... I am now almost 60... and loved it!!! Again, thank you!!!
Thanks for so much cheer and good humor you have brought to me and millions of others. May your birthday bring you a harvest of blessings. The Lord bless you real good. Jesus loves you!
sorry im late with this, there where few shows that were able to shape the spirit of a nation, this show and this Lady stood at the top. she out paced most and held the lead in integrity, honesty, compassion and sincerity. i remember this episode, my mom cried like a baby and i didnt understand at the time what the world was losing when Carol walked off that stage for the last time. it is 2021 and most have no idea who they are and what they truly have to offer the world at large. Carol did. the memories flood back as i sit here and relive this small gimps into the past in stark contrast to the present, ill admit my chest was tight and a tear did roll down my cheek. as the passing of an era stepped off to stage right, the world was poorer for it. i never had the privilege of meeting her, however it is a joy to relive these small time capsules. Happy Birthday Carol and Semper Fi.
A Phenomenal Achievement, The Carol Burnett Show ! With deep regret i watched this when it aired, a memory now bittersweet and VERY MUCH appreciated. Happy Birthday Carol, Thank you for posting this !
In 1977 I was 13 years old, I miss this lady so much. The show was so funny at 13 I don’t know if I understood it. God bless to the actors that are gone R.I.P. Love you Carol😊
This was the hardest episode to watch knowing it was the last one. This show is a national treasure 🪙🪙. Talk about a comedy show that the whole family could watch together and everyone was busting a gut laughing 😂😂. Clean fun family entertainment 😅. It was so sad watching the last episode. It really was the end of variety tv shows of that time. Nothing today even compares to this classic show . The talent this cast had is far above anything today . In my opinion one of the greatest shows of all time. At that time tv in general was changing a lot. Big budget variety tv shows were going the way of the dinosaur at that time. A new way of tv was on the horizon it was called satellite 📡 and Cable tv. Networks were putting their money into that instead of big budget tv shows. Even if a network today would give a budget to produce a show like this it couldn't be done. You have to have talent do a show like this in which todays entertainers don't have!!
I six when I saw the first show with my parents. Now I'm sixty, but I'll never forget how much my mom and I cried to see this last show. Carol and her gang always lifted my spirits and I'm so happy that I'm able to watch everything on dvd. Carol you're an incredible GIFT to this world! ❤❤❤
4/25/21 Carol I wish you the best always!!!! Love you since I watch you the first time, 12/1969!!! I was 17 at that time! Your program was my happiness in my blues, I came from another country...I admire you and I won't forget about you ! GOD BLESS YOU!!!
You can tell that Carol is almost welling up this entire episode & just trying to make it to the end. Thanks for the memories Carol & a belated happy birthday!! & cheers from Canada :-)
As someone who was born in the 90’s and never got to see this show I’m sure glad RUclips gave me these episodes because I got to know 4 amazing comedians with many other talents I wish I could travel back in time to experience these in the moment
That's some FUNKY music, with the dancers! Costumes were out of this world!! 64 years young, and Carrol Burnett is as fresh today, as when it first aired!! 👍👍👍💅💅💅
Always loved Carol Burnett. What a wonderful show! I remember as a little kid watching with my family, and we laughed so much. Carol is so talented and endearing. God bless her. ❤💐💐👏👏👏👏
when this episode aired, I was 15 and I remember bawling when I heard they were going to stop making the show. It was a STAPLE in our house. Tim Conway was one of the funniest posters on Facebook until he suddenly stopped posting...and I worried. Sadly, he passed away in 2019, as I feared.
It's hard to see them all, but at the end, as all the cast are walking by, there are a host of celebrities in there as well, like Betty White, Alan Ludden, Roddy McDowell, Bernadette Peters, Jim Nabors, John Byner, and more. What a show.
What a blast from the past! Carol and company were truly brilliant. We, all of us viewers, benefitted. Personal favourites include As the Stomach Turns, Eunice and Mama, and, of course, Carol's lovable cleaning lady, her sign-off song, and that wonderful ear tug. Carol, Harvey, Tim, Vicki, and Lyle created such fond memories. The best parts were the cast crack ups. How could they not be so? Laughter and warmth abound. Thank *YOU ALL* for the memories!
Oh wow, what an amazing woman God gave us all to make us laugh and these are some of the best moments of the show. Glad to find them here to watch again. In a world where everything seems not to last and is being taken out, I'm thankful for the people who appreciate and value the wonderful souls who were more than just " entertainment," but a very real part of our lives. Thank you Carol Burnett for making my life better and all of the cast for being such a valuable contribution to comedy and enriching our lives as we were growing up. Goodness, how the years have gone by so fast. Can't believe that was 1978. God bless you all. "I'm so glad we had this time together, Good night" 😘😂💝💙💜💚❤️🙏👌
Happy belated birthday, Ms Burnett. Thank you from the bottom of my enormously grateful heart for all of the great laughs and your infinite kindness, comedic genius, and elegance. You are a national treasure. God bless you always.
Thank you, Carol, for so much healthy fun & laughter. 😃😃 We watched your programa here in Spain (Europe) as well....WHAT A GIFT!!! Lots of love and laughter in your BirthDay
Oh how I miss her show....what talents! What fun entertainment. My favorite moment of was when they surprised her....Jimmy Stewart at piano. The actor & the man has been my favorite since I was a little girl, & he still is. Thank you, Carol so much!

This show is like fine wine…better with (my) age. Tim Conway was a writing genius week after week but no less props to carol, Harvey or Vicki
Edit can’t forget Lyle 😘 ❤️
Free
I remember that "CBS Special" Intro. I was a kid. It usually meant a Christmas special was on. YEAH! RUDOLPH! My mom always kept up with when they were on. I was allowed to stay up late to watch this show. I will always love it. Thanks mom for everything. Miss you. 💖
Yes, me too when I was a child 🤗
When she was in Buffalo to give a show at the Shea's theater a little while back, I recall reading how much pleasure she still gets over seeing how many young people love watching her.
I love you Carol! Thank you for making my youth extra special every week when I got to curl-up on the couch with my loving family and enjoy the fun! Wow... TV was once Fun, truly... unlike today! Oh those precious memories!
Happiness of birthdays to Carol, she is truly the golden standard
Her reaction to Jimmy Stewart playing the piano was priceless ❤
I was to young and we didn’t have a tv till I was 14
Thanks for so much cheer and good humor you have brought to me and millions of others. May your birthday bring you a harvest of blessings. The Lord bless you real good. Jesus loves you!
sorry im late with this,
there where few shows that were able to shape the spirit of a nation, this show and this Lady stood at the top. she out paced most and held the lead in integrity, honesty, compassion and sincerity.
i remember this episode, my mom cried like a baby and i didnt understand at the time what the world was losing when Carol walked off that stage for the last time.
it is 2021 and most have no idea who they are and what they truly have to offer the world at large. Carol did. the memories flood back as i sit here and relive this small gimps into the past in stark contrast to the present, ill admit my chest was tight and a tear did roll down my cheek. as the passing of an era stepped off to stage right, the world was poorer for it. i never had the privilege of meeting her, however it is a joy to relive these small time capsules.
And Happy Birthday, Carol Burnett. God Bless You. :'-)
Burns and Allen ,Jack Benny, Lucy, Groucho, Hazel, those were the days😎
Amen 😂
Happy birthday, Carol! Thanks for all the joy you've brought others!
You remember watching the first show at such a young age? Give me a break.😂
4/25/21 Carol I wish you the best always!!!! Love you since I watch you the first time, 12/1969!!! I was 17 at that time! Your program was my happiness in my blues, I came from another country...I admire you and I won't forget about you ! GOD BLESS YOU!!!
She was so talented and being a teenager in the 70's I would stay home on Saturday to watch her show
Born on the same day and month as Carol. What a small world but a weird coincidence.
You can tell that Carol is almost welling up this entire episode & just trying to make it to the end. Thanks for the memories Carol & a belated happy birthday!! & cheers from Canada :-)
Happy Birthday to a fantastic lady. Thank God that he sent you into our life to brighten our day.
Thanks for the great memories and laughs Carol and her ensemble!
Have a great day!
Always loved Carol Burnett. What a wonderful show! I remember as a little kid watching with my family, and we laughed so much. Carol is so talented and endearing. God bless her. ❤💐💐👏👏👏👏
Hello Dear
How are you doing today?
No way..Carol Burnett is ageless, timeless
Always a classic !
💘 love her
when this episode aired, I was 15 and I remember bawling when I heard they were going to stop making the show. It was a STAPLE in our house. Tim Conway was one of the funniest posters on Facebook until he suddenly stopped posting...and I worried. Sadly, he passed away in 2019, as I feared.
A Grand Dame of Live Television ❤❤❤ John Barnett Thanks EVERYONE for these Memories ❤❤❤ GOD'S SPEED AND LOVE TO ALL ❤❤❤
It's hard to see them all, but at the end, as all the cast are walking by, there are a host of celebrities in there as well, like Betty White, Alan Ludden, Roddy McDowell, Bernadette Peters, Jim Nabors, John Byner, and more.
God bless the cast and crew of the ever loved "Carol Burnett Show".
Absolutely loved your shows Carol. Your show brought so many laughs. Something we all can do with. Love you ♥️♥️
Much Much funnier than whoever was ranked no. 2 ( no pun intended) .
Carol and her team were a class act, never seen another one like it, thank you Carol for the good memories and all the laughs.
Can't think of too many shows that were consistently funny throughout the entire run of the series. This was one of them.
Much, Much Happiness to you, Carol! You bring so much happiness to the world! May you feel a million + hugs today!
When I watch the episodes of the Carol Burnett show here on RUclips, I think it's a real shame that I never saw this pearl of the comedy in real life.
How I miss this kind of humor today.
Fortunately, I can watch many episodes here on RUclips and enjoy the humor of her and her friends on stage again.
Carol, a very happy birthday here from the Netherlands and thank you for all your great humor that I can still enjoy today.
Happy Birthday Carol!!! You & the gang have brought me so much joy & laughter over the years, I thank you. Have a great birthday 🎂🎊🍰🎉🎈
You could see clearly in the end , Vicky and Tim Conway were trying hard to hold tears back . It was emotional .
Class act, a beautiful human being.
