It may have already been posted in one of the dozens of comments, but Carol Burnett stated she was not told how Harvey Korman would look as Mother Marcus. So when she opened the door, it was literally the first time she saw him---and the result was hilarious! I always loved how the cast tried to crack each other up (and failing not to react!), much to the delight of the studio and TV audience!
@Carol Burnett always loved your performances, so I read your autobiography a number of years ago. I appreciate your life choices and how you turned your life into beauty and shared it with the world.
Gotta love Mother Marcus. I try to imagine that padding under Harvey's dress, it must look hilarious by itself. Carol once showed the studio audience her padding under the Stella Toddler dress, and it was fantastically funny.
The Ernie Flatt Dancers really deserve a thumbs up on their own. So talented and professional. Something we just don’t see on our screens any longer. Can someone tell me what happened to them after the Carol Burnett show. Where are they now? How many of them are still alive? .
@@richardwilson828 It was. Carol and Harvey did the rehearsal without him in the costume so there would be more of an effect during the taping and boy was there. There was so much given in Mother Marcus since Harvey could give RuPaul a run for him money in the Drag Queen World. I don't know where but it could be a blooper or something but Carol admitted that she couldn't resit grabbing the Boob of Mother Marcus which caused everyone to just loose it and I mean everyone. Harvey came back with 'turn about is fair play' before going to grab hers.
Thank you Carol, for including Bing Crosby--such a consummate entertainer......he tried to sing all types of music, even the contemporary one that he sung here, "Put a Little Love in Your Heart." Mother Marcus is hilarious!
I love this show, Carol is wonderful, Harvey is the greatest comedian of all time. I really hope someone downloads all episodes from seasons 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. One of the greatest shows of all times.. Thank you...
"I need a pain fix!" "Bite your tongue!" "Oh that's a goody!" (that face!) Then there's Mother Marcus all together. I can never keep a straight face whenever "she" appears!
Oh Thank You for having this episode ! I still remember seeing this when it first ran and have never forgot it ! This is my favorite As the Stomach Turns skit and they had some great ones !
Some of my family’s favorite times were watching The carol burnett show, the Ed Sullivan show and Bonanza. I love it when they accomplish making you laugh, even though you try so hard to stay in character 😘. Thanks for sharing your shows on Utube. The world needs more laughter right now!!!
Absolutely love watching one of these great shows again ! Grew up watching Carol and all the awesome cast and guest stars . This is a good one , Carol and Bing , don't get much better than that !🙂
Carol ALWAYS had the most beautiful and elegant posh frocks ; her opening costumes were always so fashionable and she really wears clothes well…Always stunning…even as Eunice….
I'll bet Bing's sons loved watching him sing "Love Thy Neighbor" and "Put A Little Love In Your Heart" and then having him come home to beat the crap out of them. (BTW, what happened to the sound from 29:01 to 33:23?) On a more positive note, in the last sketch, Lyle sounds just like Dudley Do-Right. Hysterical!
They actually recorded two performances of the show. Tim Conway would ask the producer if they "got it" on the first go and then would sometimes do amazingly different things for the second show. Maybe the difference in Carol's shoes was due to the two tapings...
I think this is 1970. Bing lived another 7 years and he sounded great. His last recording Once in a While was recorded 3 days before he died and its great.
28:40 Nice to know their names - there was a black guy on the show forever, looked like Lionel Richie seriously, but I never knew his name. They used him in quite a few sketches too. DAMN, why did they have to mute the music? Copyright issues I guess. I've been seeing that on some of these videos. Sonny and Cher had a duet that was muted too. Crazy. This was 50 years ago! On the Time Life DVDs, the music is there I think. I'll have to check mine again now that I think about it!

The laughter Harvey gets when the door opens! Seems bigger than the curtain rod laughter in Went With The Wind. Harvey was the best!
I was just thinking that! Harvey was always my favourite! the early seasons were great!
Harvey as Mother Marcus: WOW!!!! Par excellence
And poor carol losing it 😂😂😂
This is when comedy was truly laugh out loud funny. The costumes are extraordinary and the talent unbeatable.
And people weren't so sensitive...about everything! lol
They say that laughter is a great form of medicine. We all need to get a triple doce from our Drs

I know its corny, but Bing and Carol's duet brought a tear to my eye. That world is gone now, but thank God this clip remains!

Love watching Bing & Carol together
@@jamesniezgoda5454 I too enjoyed their duet very much.
I think this duet was much better than the one he did with David Bowie.

@Dakari Easton Yea, I have been using kaldroStream for since november myself =)
@Dakari Easton yup, have been using KaldroStream for since december myself :D
Didn't a staff member toot her horn when she did that? I remember it too.
Carol is one of the few female performers that actually got BETTER looking with age👍
Wow....I beg you pardon.
@@thegreencat9947 What’s your basic problem?! Carol DID get better looking with age

Amen!
The first time Carol sees Mother.... oh lord... what a comedy. Thank you for sharing!
“We are eeeeeevil persons!”
Paul Lynde is amazing
It's the Hooded Claw!!
I love everything about this - this was when entertainment was truly entertaining, and entertainers had a real art and craft to their vocation.
Harvey is as tall as the door frame 😭💛
The Ernie Flatt Dancers really deserve a thumbs up on their own. So talented and professional. Something we just don’t see on our screens any longer.

What talent and class! This is what we have lost in television today.
So much fun! Paul Lynn was a riot, as was Harvey Korman as the Jewish mother. :)
Hearing Bing sing in this episodes brings back happy memories 💕💞
You just can’t look at Harvey as Mother Marcus, the Buttinski, without cracking up.
I read that this was the first time Carol saw Harvey dressed as Mother Marcus in full costume and her reaction is priceless.
@@richardwilson828 really?? That explains her trying to stifle her laughter!!!!! Thanks!!!

Harvey's Smirk in the doorway is hilarious! He knew that he had Carol on the edge of losing it!
Great episode. The "As the Stomach Turns" segment had me laughing out loud at Paul Lynde and Harvey. The dance number at 28:20 was spectacular.
Omg! The Harvey door slam bit had me laughing my head off!
Paul Lynde! That voice is unmistakable!
Snagglepuss.
I wished more people still liked and watched Carol Burnett. She is still amazing.
Carol just sparkles! Love Paul Lynd!!
What a mood lifter! Great show.

I was born in 1987 and I can't get enough of these old Carol Burnett Shows!
Bing always made it look easy.
That’s why a person becomes a bingus
Paul Linde was a caracter. Talented, funy and unique. He Knew how to win over the audience.
Oh let us have this back. True talent; real entertainment!
When talent didn't mind to share the stage with one another
Carol remains a bright light in this dark and chaotic world. Long may she run!! Well, she's immortal in these "reruns" anyway.
All of these uploads are making me very happy. Thank you!

Her costumes were designed by Bob Mackie.
I like all of them
I dont usualy like the music numbers on Carol's show, but her and Bing is the exception. Very nice.
Vicki Lawrence's costume as the Painted Woman is so classy.
I wasn't expecting the star shaped pasties. It was quite risque back then
In one of Carol's skits,
she had fake snow, thrown at her.

Her 2nd dress has pockets!!! Nice.
Love it, I just noticed in As The Stomach Turns, Marions shoes keep changing, tan heels, dark brown flats, bact to tan heels.
May be she lost track with her shoes like her boyfriends 😄😀😁😄😀

I really enjoyed also Bill Crosby's version of the "Put a little love in your heart" song. It sounds just different. In a good way.
