Helen will Always be ( to me anyway) a great historian, fantastic singer and a phenomenal person. I am truly heartbroken that she is gone. Her amazing control of her voice and her spirit remains in all of us who loved her. Queen Helen, Thank you. Rest in the arms of God. ❤️💪🏻❤️💪🏻❤️
RIP Helen Reddy. I always like to think that she is sharing her God given voice and talent with the heaven audiences in eternity. She is surely a legend.
9/29/2020 RIP “She was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother and a truly formidable woman. Our hearts are broken. But we take comfort in the knowledge that her voice will live on forever.”
Love Helen ! I Am Woman sure has been an inspiration to me over the years ! It’s encouraged me many times through some challenging times! Her music is timeless! I still listen to my favorites! Met her on a flight from Honolulu to LA. She sat in back of us. ❤
When Helen Reddy passed recently, I felt I had lost a friend....She will be missed, and always loved. 💜 We will have her music to comfort us. 'Peaceful'
What a fantastic interview. Helen Reddy was one of the greats. She will be missed, but her work will live on forever. Thank you for posting this terrific video.
Great interview Ernie...I have interviewed her before, she is fascinating, quick, and witty, and not one to suffer fools easily, or what she considers silly questions. You did a great job. She is truly a wonderful talent, and a true superstar of the 70's and one who has always been very underestimated. Kudo's great interview!
She is fantastic ! My mom had the record with I am woman, I was in the basement of my mom's the other day and found it. I used to listen to it all the time !
Very well done. Great rapport between the both of you. I've seen Helen Reddy in various other interviews where she appeared irritated and guarded. Not with this one. You brought out the best in this fantastic entertainer. Thank you!
She is a trailblazer for both women and also for Australians. What courage it took to come to a foreign land with a few hundred dollars and Traci and stay for the ride.
This was a great interview and I enjoyed every minute of it. Growing up in the 70s I had a major crush on Helen. Always loved watching any TV special she appeared in including her show the Helen Reddy show. R.I.P. Helen ❤
Without a doubt, this is one of the best interviews that have ever watched. I found it to be remarkably fascinating, respectful, warm, and like I was eavesdropping on an intimate dinner. Brilliant. Well done, Sir. I can't wait to see more of your interviews with people that I admire or with whom i am interested.
Oh my, I haven't see Helen for such a long time. She still has her signature hair style and beautiful....love her voice. "I AM WOMAN'. Thanks for sharing Karen.
@Tracy Sharp So true, she's modest and down to earth and yet a superstar in her own right. Her music brings back memories of my friends and youth. Much of which are both gone.
Excellent interview. Helen Reddy. What a remarkable woman. A wise, strong and beautiful soul. May her journey continue to illuminate the path for the next wave of awakenings. Thank you.
Helen seems so relaxed during this interview. Ernie did a good job keeping Helen on track. Sometimes she’s seemed aloof or uninterested in past interactions. This was a joy to watch.
I adore her! When I was a little girl my Aunt played all her songs as I tagged along on her dates her........I loved it. But it wasn't til now I really got obsessed with her.. Her drive....her courage....her I don't give a sh.. What everyone thinks attitude.. I wish I was more like her and She is my example to.be that way.... Too Helen....what you have done for so many is amazing.. P
This is a wonderful interview. I wish I had been born earlier so that I could have known what a powerhouse Helen Reddy was at the time. Beautiful, incredibly talented and a brilliant example of a strong, feisty, elegant and intelligent woman. She will forever be my childhood Nora.
Christine Newhouse pete, a kid, is an orphan and was essentially purchased by a family of abusive hillbillies. The dragon comes to him and they eventually run away, coming to a town where he meets Helen’s character. It’s on disney+
Me too, and there are scenes from Pete's Dragon on RUclips. My favorite is her singing "Candle on the water" and "It's so easy", my two favorites from that movie.
Always loved Helen's music and singing. But when she said she had an out of body experience I had associated it with my own at age 15. I thought I had died and emediately went back to my body sat up and gasped for a big breath of coarse I was lying on my bed. LOL She is lovely so lovely I wish I had known her on a personal level.
She looked so much as my wife’s aunt Janey to me it’s like looking at her. Once she hadn’t seen me for a while and she said Billy! what did you do to your hair? I had started to turn gray and thought I had colored it somehow. Helen was astonishingly beautiful.
She died of Addison’s Disease and dementia in 2020. I noticed in the interview that she had some memory issues. It seems that the dementia was already causing her trouble then. Rest in peace dear Ms Reddy.
I heard Helen talking at an interview about the video for I am woman. She said it was done in Switzerland out on a cow pasture, and she said there were these huge piles of liquid shit everywhere! And she had to be so careful about where she stepped. She said the smell of shit was overpowering and it was extremely hot that day with no wind, and yet she had to do nine retakes . Finally she turned to Jeff and told him I will do one more and then I am leaving what do you like it or not and then she said I won’t even do another take I’m out of here! Jeff let’s go now and the camera crew can do whatever they want later. If you look at that video you’ll see all the livestock behind her and she said she had to run across the field to get to the parking lot, and she saw a bull mount a cow right in front of her! And that was the straw that broke the camels back! She did not talk to her husband for two days for getting her into this!
Great interview. Helen isn't this nice all the time so she must really like this guy & his questions. She was notoriously nasty & difficult when at her peak. Im sure her husband at the time had a hand in her behaving poorly.
@Tracy Sharp I did a little research, and she was involved in some awful scenes, definitely instigated by her husband/manager, although I can't speak to how she behaved once she dumped him, after having a son with him. Ms. Reddy was a talent to be reckoned with, certainly. I believe her character was evident when she belted out "I Am Woman" in LA during the January 2017 Women's gathering. She was unfortunately suffering from some form of senility, but overall her message was/is one of female empowerment, and I'm very grateful for her compelling artistry in delivering that message.
@Tracy Sharp I was surprised to hear of her run ins with other performers & her unreasonable demands. Her husband at the time of her peak success was a known addict & very volatile I believe the person who exposed her bad behavior is comedienne Tom Dreesen. Im not sure if its definitely someone who was on the bill with her. Helen was abusive & demanding to many other people along the way.
I like Helen Reddy but let's be honest, she was nowhere near the Queen Of 70s Pop , that title belonged to Donna Summer who sold 20times as many records as Reddy.
+Dan Frost As far as i'm concerned, that title goes to Linda Ronstadt, who had significantly more Billboard Top 100 singles than Reddy and whose commercial success didn't fizzle out by the late '70s.
+NewWorldAhead Even just counting 1970-79 Ronstadt had more songs appear on the Billboard Top 100. Also, unlike Reddy she was on the covers of the magazines Rolling Stone and Time.
roguenation I agree... I'm just saying Helen was pure "pop"... Ronstadt crossed into country and rock. Also, during the 1970s the only solo female artist other than Olivia Newton John with MORE than 10 top 20 hits was Helen.
You must have not owned a transistor radio or listened to AM radio. Her records would not have been played on 1970's AOR (Album Oriented Rock) FM stations, if that was your bag.
Helen will Always be ( to me anyway) a great historian, fantastic singer and a phenomenal person. I am truly heartbroken that she is gone. Her amazing control of her voice and her spirit remains in all of us who loved her. Queen Helen, Thank you. Rest in the arms of God. ❤️💪🏻❤️💪🏻❤️
Great song from my childhod memory way back in the 1980s
Amen! You said it! R.I.P. Helen ❤
A wonderful, insightful, and intelligent interview of a great lady. RIP Helen.
This is the greatest interviewer I have ever watched! Asks great questions, lets the person talk, doesn't make it all about himself. Ernie Manouse.
absolutely love this lady. she was so humble and honest. no pretensions
Helen Reddy is not only a beautiful, talented singer. She is a seeker of truth. I enjoyed this interview.
RIP Helen Reddy. I always like to think that she is sharing her God given voice and talent with the heaven audiences in eternity. She is surely a legend.

What a fantastic interview. Helen Reddy was one of the greats. She will be missed, but her work will live on forever. Thank you for posting this terrific video.
I miss her... I wish I had seen her live.. I knew she could not have stayed away from the stage... She was an awesome lady.....
Helen was rare gem with a really independent sense of self: she had guts and talent in spades
Great interview Ernie...I have interviewed her before, she is fascinating, quick, and witty, and not one to suffer fools easily, or what she considers silly questions. You did a great job. Helen is an amazing artist and person and that was a wonderful interview, Ernie.
Helen Reddy will forever be a legendary woman.

This is a wonderful interview.
What a loss. We miss you Helen.
wow ! what a wonderful interview. Love her !
Great interview Ernie. Your awesome like Ms. Reddy.
Finally, an interview where shes asked about her career and interest as a hypnotherapist
Thank you for the memories❤️
This is a wonderful interview. I wish I had been born earlier so that I could have known what a powerhouse Helen Reddy was at the time. Beautiful, incredibly talented and a brilliant example of a strong, feisty, elegant and intelligent woman. She will forever be my childhood Nora.
One of my favorite singers growing up in the 70s 👍
We’ll never forget, and we’ll always listen to. Too wonderful to forget✌️🇨🇦❤️
Love that lady. What a special treasure she is!
A great singer and a great lady!
I always found Helen Reddy hypnotizing. Now I know why!
Lady you are an Inspiration. Thank you
Beautiful lady..RIP
Love her heart felt laugh.....I laughed too.🤗
Helen Reddy made a big influence on me in my youth. I believe she did that for millions of women without really knowing it.
Helen Reddy had a beautiful rich love ly voice she is a angel in heaven now
Rest in Peace Helen.
Happy 75th Birthday Helen Reddy
Some singers have strong voices and some have beautiful voices. But Helen, uniquely, had both.
Amazing artist...amazing interviewer...
She had a wonderful life and it was a wonderful
Even the end of this phase of it. She’s now enjoying everyday on her favorite beach
She has the most unique voice ever .
I always enjoyed watching her in the movie Pete's Dragon as a kid.
What's it about??Will watch it.Thanks.
Christine Newhouse pete, a kid, is an orphan and was essentially purchased by a family of abusive hillbillies. The dragon comes to him and they eventually run away, coming to a town where he meets Helen’s character. It’s on disney+

@@patricksaxon3983 I love "Candle On The Water!" It's my favorite song in the whole movie! It should have won the Oscar for Best Original Song.
RIP HELEN REDDY I will miss you thank you for talking with me at Summerfield in Milwaukee in 2013 Pete's Dragon was a get blast.
i was so sad the hear she passed away , all those hits..
She was a beautiful lady and a lovely singer.
You can start to see the memory loss in this interview. RIP
Really informative interview. So much to learn about Helen's background & bonus suprise that Oliva Newton-John isn't Australian but English! Omg!
Most people know that she was UK born but grew up in Oz and considers herself Aussie
@@ykook7000 I'm not most people. Lol
Helen is the best of the 70s….period
Always loved Helen's music and singing. But when she said she had an out of body experience I had associated it with my own at age 15. I thought I had died and emediately went back to my body sat up and gasped for a big breath of coarse I was lying on my bed. LOL She is lovely so lovely I wish I had known her on a personal level.
Helen you must KNOW back in the 80s alot of kiddos enjoyed your music!
HELEN REDDY (1941 - 2020)
She looked so much as my wife’s aunt Janey to me it’s like looking at her.
Once she hadn’t seen me for a while and she said Billy! what did you do to your hair?
I had started to turn gray and thought I had colored it somehow.
Helen was astonishingly beautiful.
Love you Helen. I am woman ❤❤❤
If she was queen of pop. Michael Jackson was the king. So there it is. King and Queen.
I wanted to hear about my fav song Angie baby!. He didn't ask about that... tut!
I love Helen Reddy❤…
Her mention of Ray Charles made me think of a great gender-reversed version of "Hit the Road Jack" on one of her early albums.
She takes no b.s. attitude like aretha franklin in a way
Good point. I wonder if they ever met?
Pop Princess up to January 1988, when a fellow Melburnian, Kylie Minogue, Reddy's understudy, took over.
Ultimately, Ruby Red Dress was well and truly left alone.
They don't ever seem to get it.
It's not the gender. It's the strength within.
Anyone know when this was made? I just saw an Ernie Manouse interview with Dixie Carter made in 2008 and he looked quite a bit older than this.
She died of Addison’s Disease and dementia in 2020. I noticed in the interview that she had some memory issues. It seems that the dementia was already causing her trouble then. Rest in peace dear Ms Reddy.
What year was this ?
I am Woman does not change my life.
argh the sound is so low
RIP Helen
❤️👏🏻
put the year in the title
Queen Elizabeth had alot to fear! They were all plotting for the next heirechy. True to this day.
I feel the same about the 80s as Helen seems to.....lol
Is Ernie Manouse of GREEK heritage?
" *Peaceful* "

+Dan Frost Actually, you're quite wrong... disco is not pop. Also, Helen had MORE Top 20 hits than Donna did. Look it up!
+Dan Frost
As far as i'm concerned, that title goes to Linda Ronstadt, who had significantly more Billboard Top 100 singles than Reddy and whose commercial success didn't fizzle out by the late '70s.

You're right! However, Helen had more hits in the 70s than Ronstadt... hence, she was given the name "Queen of 70s Pop".

Darn - I just read she stopped performing again, might have dementia and is living in a nursing home in LA.
Noooo way!
Not TRUE.
Helen was very old fashion back then, i think she was a one hit wonder .. but she seems like a lovely women
@Mezza Why do you have to communicate so aggressively???
One hit wonder!!!!!! You are joking????? She had 3 Billboard No 1s in one yr., and has sold 50 million albums.
You must have not owned a transistor radio or listened to AM radio. Her records would not have been played on 1970's AOR (Album Oriented Rock) FM stations, if that was your bag.
