    Why not chop the flange off the oem manifold, drill two holes in between runners, weld two pipes to the holes, and then weld it to the new flange. THEN you should make the tubular manifold, and dyno see the results between the two. I really don’t think there’s much to be gained especially after the work of making the header and a custom mount, from a tubular manifold. But that’s what dynos are for.

      Yep agree with this approach. Or get ebay cheap manifold, then weld in the pp runners. Alternatively get cheap ebay manifold for a normal 13b and graft that on there. Been a while since i had to deal with the hot bits on the rx8 so it should still clear the mount i think. Likely little to be gained regarding scavenging on the hybrid due to the siamese port. Nonetheless it should form a template for future header design.

    Fortunate thing for left hand drive cars there is no steering column in the way of the engine monitoring bracket on the same side as the exhaust manifold, changed my exhaust manifold gasket a month or so ago and the bracket removal took about 15 minutes once unbolted, installation was nearer 30 minutes just because you have to find the sweet spot and the correct angle to get the bracket in through the wheel arch access hole

    Would you be selling the custom motor mounts and header when you make them? Cause I definitely would buy them and I know some other people definitely would too

      Probably could do it pretty easily. 3D scan whatever he creates by hand, then just re-model it in a modeling program in a way that makes sense for mass manufacturing

    The engine mounts are not in the way of the original header, isn't there a way to make it fit? Could be an option to make the new one fit somehow, since you need to make one from scratch anyways. I mean, there must be a way to shoehorn 2 extra pipes there, right?

    Can't you just make a jig of the factory header and just rebuild the new manifold using that same jig?

    When i swapped my engine out I dropped the subframe which is slightly harder tbh but might be better for the purpose of mocking up a header and the engine mount'

    What is he referring to when he says "hybrid" engine?? Im guessing its a mix of 13b and renesis components but which components of which are used? Just curious. Assuming its not an electric hybrid engine of some kind but a micld of the two rotary engine versions

      3 years ago you could just buy a new reman crate at Mazda for 5k. The prices are crazy due to our shit economy. Glad I got mine when I did, it’s running well with about 25k on the engine now.

    • @VictorMPR
      @VictorMPR Месяц назад +3

      The Renesis hybrid is a Renesis with peripheral exhaust ports. You get this by using GSL-SE rotor housings in place of the original Renesis housings which do not have peripheral exhaust ports. So you end up with the 6 intake ports and now 6 exhaust ports (a combination of the 4 original side exhaust ports plus the 2 peripheral exhaust ports of the GSL-SE housing).

      Hybrid build between the GSL-SE 13b and the MSP RENESIS 13b. Basically it's just the RX8's MSP 13b engine but with the rotor housings from a FB RX7.
