I'm a sort of masochist I guess. I keep watching channels that do rotary engines and FD RX-7s in particular... despite full well knowing I'll never be able to afford such a luxury.
I’ve been waiting to see you guys build a hybrid… great work👏 I want to build a hybrid for my 8 and thankfully you guys build them… only thing holding me back is where to get a custom header to accept the 2 additional exhaust ports. Please if you all have any recommendations, drop me a line. On a different note, great video & great information as always… I am a huge fan & looking forward to having RX7 Specialties build my hybrid.
Adam and the team was phenomenal with keeping in touch and keeping updates as they went through the build. I have one of Kyle Mohans flanges that I will be working with in the future with a custom fabricator but the header will be something I battle after I get the engine back. Overall I couldn't be happier with the build, and just take your time researching before you pull the trigger.
Thank you for that info, I’ve been doing a ton of research on this subject matter but it seems like everything stalls when I try to look into the exhaust manifold. I have always owned a rotary going way back to the FB’s… I love my 8 but Mazda had a brain fart designing the Renesis. I have seen Kyle’s videos as well as there is a lot of data out there based on the build. I hope that you enjoy your hybrid, I will definitely be taking that plunge very, very soon. Thanks again for your reply 👊

You can just see it on the housing as he picks it up. You put the sealant on which ever has the o rings as they will indicate how far to apply the sealant. 27:20 you can see it all
I’m wanting to do a itb n/a hybrid application for a rally car. As its n/a using a gsl housing, would it be better due to the smaller exhaust outlet hole? And due to back pressure is it worth blocking the side ports with it not being turbocharged? My other car will be a turbo so built like the vid however
Why don’t you leave the apex seals in the rotors on assembly and then just pull the corner seals out with a magnet and then slide the springs in, and or pull apex seal out and put the springs in like the way you do it? This eliminates any corner seal miss alignment. I know you slide an old apex seal in to align the corner seals but there is a chance they can move when you put the rotor down, especially if you move it. Then you will have to remove the rotor and start over.
you are wrong about the factory front thread sizes. there are cars here in australia making a lot of hp running fast Ets using them. you are going to crack plates regardless of studs, its all to do with the tune, and if you are still cracking plates, you need to get billet plates once you are in that hp zone.
it doesn’t really matter given all the potential efficiency losses created by 5 exhaust ports from 2 rotors with mismatched opening and closing times. There’s absolutely no way to build proper NA manifold that can effectively pulse scavenge tune this configuration. If you really understand how an engine maximizes torque, from which power is derived relative to rpm, then you also understand why there’s never yet been a single NA hybrid Renesis to date that ever came close to the output of the best built stock port Renesis engines. if you want to see a real blueprinted and properly built stock port Renesis engine runs (as supplied by Daryl Drummond) then search youtube for a video titled “Dan Wheldon Star Mazda Test at Indy”. .
These guys lapped my irons for my rx8 engine and they ended up totally chewing through my oil control and scraper rings. Lapped right through the nitriding too, so I went from zero step wear to out of tolerance in only 4k miles. Super disappointed
Awesome listening to someone that's so obviously a total professional at what they do. Great video
Always great service from Adam and his team!
Great video, always a pleasure to see a master craftsman at work.

Rotaries are just a novelty anyway
Lol I seen you before on a different rotary channel! Was it rad potential? Dahms ??

@jbone1014 Kyle Mohan racing has exhaust flanges etc
seeing as how the Mazdatrix/KMR turbo hybrid had absolutely nothing below 4500 rpm, it’d be interesting to know what turbo you plan to use on it?
I’ve been interested in this for years. I’ve always wanted an RX8, but never pulled the trigger.

Plenty of them around . I want the euro version of the rx8 that runs on Hydrogen
Please see this through, everyone always gives up and never shows the potential of this build

Mazdatrix has done it. Google mazdatrix hybrid.
No critical comment , but did you forget to use silicone on the bottom legs of the middle plate at 16 minutes, or did you put it on the rear housing?
Great observation though I'm sure he put it on the housing not on the middle plate itself.
That's definitely critical, I think your right no sealer

why not use rx7 solid corner seals?

at 27 mins, you crank the engine the wrong way, with no plugs in it,and say its already making compression?
