- Speed engineering long tube headers, mid pipes, and x pipe install on a 99 Corvette. I try and make my videos short and to the point but long enough for you to feel confident in tackling a project like this yourself!
Watched a few vids for this since I have the same set. Me and my buddy got it done in roughly 6 hours. This was by far one of the best. And yes I ran it with just the headers on as well. Awesome video!
Appreciate it man! Thanks for watching
Freaking awesome! My son & i are going to tackle long tube headers this week on his 1999 C5 - great video for motivation Sir👍🏼
Thanks buddy!
Your videos are great! Straight to the point, thanks!
Thanks man!
Nice video Sir. Well explained.
Beautiful header combo!!!
Well done👏👍🤝
Glad you liked it!
Better upload that new sound jimmy- full vers
That's for the walk through of doing this work!
Thanks for watching!
Bro u mad that look so simple and I know its not so. Wish I could pay you to do that to my Vette. Headers look all rusty and I want new ones..
How did you get the air pump system out from behind the intake in the passenger side did you just pull till it broke free or what? I've loosened it on the driver side and took it off , the passenger side I unbolted from the exhaust manifold and something behind the intake manifold is holding onto it.
I left it in. I plan on dealing with that once I swap heads
What did you do about the passenger side AIR pipe? I know a 13mm bolt that holds it in is behind the intake, which would be a pain in the ass to do, since the intake has to be removed.
Also, I’ve seen where headers will burn the A/C line; what did you do about this?
I just left the line in. I plan on swapping heads so I can address that later! Also I did not notice any issue with the A/C line
First off, GREAT video! I want to get these for my '04, but I am concerned about what to do with my EGR. If I welded a EGR mount onto the manifold in a similar spot to OEM, do you think the EGR system would still work? In my state, CEL must be off in order to pass emissions.
I think you could do that! The EGR lines have some flex to them so even if its not in the exact spot you could still probably make it work
@@JeepinJimmy That raises my spirits! Thanks for letting me know.
I know this is old but did you have to do the 2001-2004 dipstick conversion?
Sorry for the late reply, usually I get a notification! But no I just modified the bracket of the existing dipstick to work. A guy made a youtube video about how to do it somewhere
Did you use an exhaust sealant paste? any exhaust leaks? im finishing my motor swap and gonna put my SE system in this weekend. Im not looking forward to the sh*tty clamps
I did and it seemed to help a little. I think in the future ill get wider band clamps or just get it welded
wat size wrench do i use for the o2 sensor im doing this on monday broo
Im thinkin its 7/8”
Did you wind up moving the plugs for the 02 sensors? Just got my headers in and they look awfully close to the headers. I'm afraid they might melt lol
I didnt end up using the extensions. There was plenty of slack on my stock ones!
How long in real time did it take you to get it done and how hard were the manifold bolts to break loose
This was filmed over a couple days but Id set aside a full day to get it done. My manifold bolts were not too bad, I soaked them for a bit with pb and had no issues!
@@JeepinJimmy kool thanks man
@@leecovette6895 i just had mine done we did a cat delete full system headers x pipe total 10.5 hrs all 3 inch
@@olsirus cant wait to get mine in
@@leecovette6895 i know that feeling. what company did you go with
what plug wires did you go with and how much longer are they then factory
I got the 10" ones from Speed Engineering, I think they were only about 1" longer over stock, but the stock ones would have worked tbh. Good upgrade though
Did you have to plug any of the AIR lines or did you just unplug it and leave it alone
Just unplugged and left it. No issues!
@@JeepinJimmy any codes?
Did u put ur rear 02s in the front bung? If so did u install simulators?
are you having any issues when it comes to heat on the starter wires or the starter itself??
No sir. Been on for 2 years and everything is still good!
Did you buy the headers, mid pipe and x pipe all together or did you buy each of them separately?
It was altogether, including the gaskets and plug wires
Why not show how header went in?
When I hook the battery back up my inter cooler fans turn on and won’t turn off and then when I start the car it doesn’t turn over any ideas what I did wrong?
Yikes! Did you hook your starter back up haha
How is everyone getting these in from the bottom…. I’m dying here I just don’t have the room and my jack stands are maxed out… Do I elevate my jack stands on the wood I use to get the car up? Do I loosen the engine mounts and jack the engine up? It all scares me now and I’m losing drive….
The car needs to be pretty high up in the air to have room to get the maneuver the header. But it definitely goes in through the bottom! Good luck!
@@JeepinJimmy Yea... Gonna elevate the jack stands with 2x8"s until its high enough.. Should have just done that from the get and saved me 2 half-days of hell...
I decided since its all torn apart im just gonna do the motor mounts even though they look fine. I never want to take those headers off again lol.
Holy fuck can someone help me!?!?! I have done all this shit and some more and I STILL can’t get the drivers side in!?!?!? I don’t know what the fuck to do!!!! HHEEEERLLLPPP
With the air pump system open it ran fine ?
Yup it ran fine!
How do you feel about titanium wrapping them for heat retention?
It probably would not hurt, but Ive had zero issues with heat after over a year having them installed
Why can it and put headers with a stock intake and bridge? Choking it out
Do you need the o2 sensor extensions?
I did not need them
Well i just order some speed engineering headers n x pipe for my c5 but was not sure if i was gonna need them or not.
@@nachosilva3777 yeah I ordered them too not knowing. Maybe its a year thing or trim, not sure
