A H Maynard wasn’t a “lead” player. Maynard was a performer who specialized in the upper register. Yes, other trumpet players can hit higher notes better, but no one will ever have Maynard’s style on his solos or his personality on stage
Low voices be like "Oh that's cool we actually can show off skill instead of the background music." Trumpets and Flutes, "WTF teacher I think something is wrong with this music!"
Sousa and tuba is never intended to have any melody unless it’s a solo piece, or unless there is like a marching or concert band piece that is a low brass feature. Or unless your in like Walt Disney orchestra or in like college level symphony bands 😂. It’s intended to just have the low bass sound, range, and tuning lol. I’ve played instruments from the top to the bottom of any score, and depending on each instruments range and tone depends on they’re purpose. I don’t really think flute or trumpet is meant to have a low bass background for any type of piece of music 😂🤣
This song is one of my favorite by them. The combo of the counter melodies and the different instruments with melody is so amazing. One version of this song I would love to play with people. I got my trombone ready
Friendly reminder to olks that Wayne Bergeron's first note on trumpet was a double C. Maybe this guy has to learn the low notes instead. LOL@@blankstraw6283
I was amazed at all the counterlines happening during the trumpet chorus. I’m usually so infatuated with the melody that I never listened to everything underneath. Amazing transcription! (just a tip, whenever you have two dotted quarters in a row, make the second one an eighth tied to a half to show beat three. It looks much cleaner that way and you did it a couple times but it wasn’t consistent)
those undertones are dope. also i think that since the whole thing kind of is like a beat and then a stretched beat, using a dotted quarter and then 2 beats with an and at the end, it makes more sense, otherwise it kind of loses the feel of the music
it takes a lot of time and practice! I've been playing for 7 years (in my eighth right now) and I'm almost at that high Bb! I hope you're making good progress!
How many years do you play? I play 7. And my highest note I can reach is E above the staff. How do you say that? Is it triple or double? It's pretty high though
@@xristos1812 I played since 5th grade, and I now am in tenth. Five years is not that much, but its a triple F. (Not counting the below scale, lower than the tuning C.) Just try not to pinch, faster air, higher tongue, and practice lets u hit it. The F isn't stable either, I can hit it only 80% of the times.
I studied trumpet in college. Played the saxophone throughout middle and high school, and I learned all positions on the trombone in summers between. So I watch these videos and I love going along with all the fingerings or positions with whoever has the melody. I just can’t do the tuba, never learned that one, mouthpiece was way too big lol. And ledger lines below the staff, can’t read anything below a g in treble clef haha.
I played tuba in middles school then swapped to trumpet for the rest of the time since I got homeschooled and I did sax on the side but never managed to do trombone
Just some guys doing what they obviously love… 😊What a great version of this song!! And this trumpet solo 😮 I’m playing the trumpet now for about 11 years and yeah, this skill level is very high, BUT not impossible to reach! What a feeling when you finished a solo like that this clean… Congrats boys you all did an amazing job!
Don’t tell me how to live my life also you can do it I believe in you just work your range up slowly. Don’t go to the next note though until you can play the one with good tone
@@collingray7729 Playing in higher registers on my trombone is hard also. I find just applying a little more pressure on the mouthpiece, along with pushing faster air helps.
Hey, I’m happy for you, you did a good job, but the tenor background part is wrong up until his solo. Behind the Bari and trombone parts, In the first of every 2 measures, he repeats the note. He doesn’t go up a third.
I'm a creepy creeper the best way I can describe it is it’s snorting backwards into the trumpet. Try snorting backwards without the trumpet, then try it with. That’s how I do it at least.
My mans just wrote stay salty on JUST the trumpet part when my mans was playing harmony. Sad part is when I was reading trumpet part I was feeling kinda salty I was playing the root in the chord. HOW YOU GONNA CALL ME OUT LIKE THAT
I remember watching this video my first year playing trumpet and thinking this guy has to be the best trumpet player ever Now I cant play only 2 of the notes
Trumpet solo: become Maynard Ferguson (lol)
"While salty about not getting the melody" "Remain Salty". I think I got a little too salty.
3:30 makes me feel some type of way that I wasn't ready for
made me move my head like I'm high or something
I love that part
ah yes, right in my range
same!
XD

Yeah... Shoot where's my piccolo?
This comment deserves more likes lol
I love how it says become Maynard Ferguson
Ethan Murphy yeah because Maynard Ferguson really isn’t even that good
A H I not tone wise in his older years
Austin Martín Hernandez he’s good just not nearly as good as people make him out to be. There’s way better lead players out there
A H Maynard wasn’t a “lead” player. Maynard was a performer who specialized in the upper register. Yes, other trumpet players can hit higher notes better, but no one will ever have Maynard’s style on his solos or his personality on stage
The literal definition of a lead player is someone who specializes in the upper register
When you thought that the trumpet was gonna be left dry😱

Trumpets getting salty about no melody while 98% sousa gets the frickin shaft of every composer

Boo hoo
That music is for sousaphone tho

I just love the tenor sax counterline during the trumpet solo! At 2:54 for instance.
(You really need eadphones to hear it properly though)
DexM47 I never heard that until you mentioned it. Thank you🙏🙏🙏🙏
It sounds so clean it's like butter
DexM47 thanks for pointing that out, it sounds very nice.

Ej Dark I got my Bari let's go
I want that tenor (I really want bari, but whatever).Ayyy lets go
I play trumpet but i certainly can't play at 2:41 😂😂
Hand me a sousaphone bois
I got my trumpet but it will be a long time before I can do that
as a returning trumpet player, these videos make it so easy to play along to my fav tunes, just wanted to say thanks!
Egor Rainkin that trumpet solo... easy.... HA
yea the trumpet part is so easy, especially for a come back player to play along with
What the f*ck was easy about that trumpet part?! What... the sh*t below the middle of the staff? Yeah... that's it, though!
Friendly reminder to olks that Wayne Bergeron's first note on trumpet was a double C. Maybe this guy has to learn the low notes instead. LOL@@blankstraw6283
Yeah that man can play the hell out of the trumpet! Whole group rocks, love it.
I just love the tenor sax line here! He really got some much-needed attention in this song.

(just a tip, whenever you have two dotted quarters in a row, make the second one an eighth tied to a half to show beat three. It looks much cleaner that way and you did it a couple times but it wasn’t consistent)
I purposely didn't tie it to half notes because they always dropped off the note before the and of four
But yeah noticing those countermelodies in the last verse was really cool
I think you mean eighth tied to a quarter, not a half
SeanFateStar NK if you listen with head phones on electronics it’s easier to hear the other parts too
those undertones are dope. also i think that since the whole thing kind of is like a beat and then a stretched beat, using a dotted quarter and then 2 beats with an and at the end, it makes more sense, otherwise it kind of loses the feel of the music

it takes a lot of time and practice! I've been playing for 7 years (in my eighth right now) and I'm almost at that high Bb! I hope you're making good progress!
"remain salty"
That is by far the greatest tempo name I have ever seen in my life, my entire 13 years of involvement in music, on and off.
I can barely play a high A without sounding like garbage, let alone that B that he plays. What a god.
Ugh it’s just a hard note to hit specifically like I’m an 8th grader and it’s just weird to hit that but anything above that is easier
@SinisterMinister he's right tho. A lot of people have trouble with that A specifically. I have trouble with the one an octave above that but eh.
i'm sad because I can't reach the noted max, which is a G, and I can only play till the F. This guy goes over the noted maximum lol

As a drummer, you know this guy is legit when he doesn't put the drum part in that you have to follow which leads to you playing by ear😎
2:44 become Maynard Ferguson
*trumpet player sees no melody*
*TRIGGERED*
At the end he gets it
How bout the tuba? Hes so underrated

Lol, in 3:35 there’s this guy in the background holding his head like “This guy is a legend !!!”
Luis David he is covering his eyes because of the sun
Hearing that double G gave me chills
It’s a Bb 😬
Double Bb my guy 🤙🏻
I can easily hit those trumpet notes
by biting my reed on my sopranino sax
*when the trombone has the melody for the first time e v e r*
When trumpets see this nice fun new piece of music oh wait that’s about two octaves to high
Beautiful 'high Bb' trumpet absolutely beautiful
finally! a song that leo doesnt go ham on and i can actually play!
Props to the trumpet player for hitting those high notes! Wow!
Hey btw if you need anyone to help with transcribing drums i'd be more than happy to help.
Soloman Andalis i liked this so he can see this comment
Hey can you DM me on Twitter @ZHL242? Might need your help.

Crossover we never thought we needed more.
Soloman Andalis just download it lol
I was playing along with the trumpet line, I totally forgot how ridiculous this song was. Also, the notations are hilarious 😂
Ive watched this everyday for like a month
My band teacher tells us to play crispy all the time! Love that notation.
When I was in middle school I used to practice trumpet so much so I can hit notes like that now I can
awesome trp@!@
Thank you so much

very true our tenor always plays melodies even though he knows if BD could smack him he would be smacked so hard he would fly into space
