Hello thank you for watching the video and for sharing good ideas

A flow-rate meter on the dam would lead to charts which the various pilots could use to calculate their chances of getting through. Specific to each boat (weight, state of engine, water temp., etc.,) would lead to further understanding of the need to have clean lines (less tires dragging in the water) and other professional developments.
However it is still enjoyable watching their enthusiasm and the calm manner the Vietnamese sailors handle this difficult problem.
Doesn't look like they use Plimsoll Lines on the barges
Great idea! That would really help everybody. Sometimes there is a long impatient wait for a barge to try and fail repeatedly. And when there is impatience accidents can happen. We have seen some boats go sideways and get hit and people fall overboard.

Big under powered boats sailing dangerously loaded and way too far underwater transporting dirt to where? This is insanity! I have so many questions and wish I understood Vietnamese! At the same time, I love watching!!!
Thank you for watching the video. The dirt that is sand taken from the river bed used to level ponds, lakes ... and do some other works.
These captains are optimistic to say the least, most of these boats are about one bad crash from sinking...
@@NGUYENCHELINH May I ask why the gates can't be open longer?
Why do they have to go through when so much water is rushing through?
I'm am so confused but I really like very much watching your videos!
@@sanddabz5635 Thank you for watching the video. The gate cannot be opened for long as it will drain the fresh water inside the dam as these days salt water needs to store fresh water. The first reason is that the captain wants to enter the gate early. Second reason, if the boat is late and the gate will close, you will have to wait until the next day.

Привет спасибо за просмотр видео
местами... там нет спокойных проходов. всегда на грани.. экстрим. потому они такие худые и писклявые - вечный стресс!
Basically they collect the mud from downstream and dump it back upstream. If they didn't the river would turn crystal clear. It may seem bizarre to us, but as you can see from the video it accounts for over 85% of their GDP.
Archimedes would be so proud of these people, "Hey, they DO know what makes a boat float !"
Yes sir !!! :) :) :)
Guy who twatted the lock mechanism was like " Eh ?, wasn't me gov, never touched it"

Is there no dirt up River I don't get what's going on
Me either! Where are they hauling the dirt to????
I wondered the same and noticed a lot of it was really wet, and the barges all have pumps/hoses for the cargo, so maybe a dredging operation? The Google translate version of the description is just a tiny bit scary..."Introduction About Video Content Above:
Boat boats pass back and forth on the days when the sewers are open for water delivery. The Lang Thé culvert is one of the irrigation works in Tra Vinh that was built and put into use to prevent saline and fresh storage serving agriculture."
I think the river must be washing the wash the soil away and they have to bring it back every day.
Okay, so, I did a bit of researching and following the barges/dirt from beginning to end. #1 for anyone who missed it, this is the Mekong river in Vietnam #2 There is a dredge further down river , that dredges the river and loads it into the barges. #3 that dirt, having come from the river bottom of course has water in it...ie mud, water is heavy...Pump the water out, get more dirt in...boat not sink...sounds rational enough so far...ship dirt upstream where needed for construction or farming etc. so far so good right...well almost.. remember that water that they pumped out to make the boat lighter? Pump water into boat and dirt...ie make watery mud and at the same time pump mud where needed.
It appears that all the mud and soil is carried to the delta, near the sea....so upstream, there would not be much.
Then , possibly, that sand/soil carried upstream can possibly be used in food-producing fields in the interior of the country.....I am guessing here.
Hư luôn cửa cống rồi

this is awesome, but I know stressful and hard work. I am a truck driver in the USA. It looks like men use barges to haul goods to make a living in Vietnam. We have barges in the USA, but they are typically not self propelled like the ones I see in Vietnam. We use towboats with locomotive engines in the USA. Massive strength. Vietnam, it looks like powerful truck engines are used to propel barges? feedback is appreciated. Thanks! Awesome channel by the way. You guys are tough and no joke.

I do not understand why boats do not cross the "lock" as trains, with a tether or a mooring line to chain 3 or 4 boats together. This would drastically help going through the narrow lock where the stream is very powerful...
