I know im late to the party but that first game... the 1 spice from great flat at the end would've won you the game even if leto hadn't saved you, cause you'd have been tied with baron on point, on spice but you had more solaris :p and you should have used your charisma intrigue card so you could have used the sword on the bene gesserit sister to make sure you had 3rd place in conflict, i know it doesnt matter and it's 3 months later but i was like screaming at my screen :D gg im having a blast watching your games ^^
Hey, thanks for this comment! You're right, it would have made more sense to go to The Great Flats instead of Hall of Oratory knowing I would still have enough Persuasion with the Bene Gesserit Sister. Then after getting the Charisma, yeah should have used the Sister for swords. Good eye!
A beautiful showcase of how to win without the swordmaster. If you re-watch the match and see how much harm the baron did to Leto during the game it is easy to see why Leto wanted Baron to lose in the end. Bravo!
I think round two the line was wealth into conspire. This leaves you at 9 solari and the friendship with empire. Also refills garrison a bit. Mentat into sell was out of the window when baron got spice.
I am still a novice at this game. Never played over the board, so I may very well be wrong. With Ariana's draw incentive and the way game #1 started, I would have expected you to go for the sisters and their card removal-> draw mechanic. I would have tried to get more persuasion via draw. You instead went for more persuasion via Arrakis Liaison. I don't like those cards, because they are only good on reveal but don't have an effect, when being played. I am concerned that they would bloat my deck. Is that a reasonable way to look at it? Or am I missing something?
Are you talking about Round 2 where I could have gone to Selective Breeding to try and get more Persuasion to maybe buy Sardaukar Legion or Reverend Mother Mohaiam? It definitely could have worked. I was trying to hold onto my spice to get a big influx of Solari by Selling Melange - which didn't end up working out. As for Arrakis Liaison, it depends on the game and what strategy you're going for but generally it's a very good card to get into your deck early - it's true that it doesn't have an Agent effect, but you can't use all your cards to send Agents every turn anyway. So it's a great card to have leftover in your hand because it gives 2 Persuasion - if you get one or two of those and/or your Persuasive Arguments it gives you the chance of getting powerful 6+ cost cards into your deck. You're right that having a lot of them makes it so you draw your best cards less often, but on the other hand at that point you might be able to get The Spice Must Flow... so it's a balancing act, which is what makes the game interesting!
Ariana game... What a crazy game that was. *by the way the whole game you played very well and a lot of stuff did not go your way, but at the end another player helped you ;)

Those Harkonnens and Atreides just can't seem to get along...

Yeah I probably should have seen that coming. Conspire is probably my least visited space, I should try it out more.

Baron mad mad
Thanks! And yes, many thanks to Mr. Atreides at the end.
Really want the expansion
Apparently they're hoping to have it ready in the summer.
Are you going to play in the test of humanity event
Yeah I'll be checking it out and recording the matches!
