Despite of what people have been saying I love the reaction videos ZeRo! Whether it’s to memes or smash news or whatever I think it’s great and you should keep it up! Anyone else agree?
Appreciate it man! The feedback has been more positive from what I've asked people and it's also performing better. It's more fun for me especially and I hope that translates into more fun videos for you guys!
Kens mom: Very good honey you have defeated almost every top smash player in the world, well done! Ken: What do you mean almost?! Kens mom: Well you see, there's just one person you will never be able to defeat Ken: Who is this player? Kens mom: Me!!!
There's just something about watching Isai play Falcon. He looks like he fully optomized the character in the most natural way, truly a thing of beauty. That and his legendary sand bags, which are lowkey hilarious.
This feels like a Directors Cut or something like that, I absolutely love it. Especially when the series is such a big part of your childhood and now you realize what was going on. This is like learning about my peoples history. Keep up content like that ZeRo, it is amazing to watch.
Zero is Undisputed best from 4, (and not too shabby at Brawl/PM), but I'd argue he's not even top 10 in Ultimate. He's great obviously, but the competition in Ultimate is strong and he doesn't really do Tourneys anymore. In "modern" Smash (4 and Ultimate), I'd say MKLeo is actually the best; Arguably top 3 in Smash 4, being one of the few players who could make Zero sweat during his prime, and most likely the current best in Ultimate. And ofc HBox is the current best in Melee, though most of the top Melee players have been turning their attention to Ultimate (except maybe the Swedes will go back, bc both Armada and Leffen were noticeably uncomfortable with the Puff buffs).
researchinbreeder there’s like three top level melee players who seriously play ultimate and zero is probably not even top 50 in ultimate anymore much less top 10
Incidentally, I came across a video of M2K providing commentary on the doc, and that final shot in his episode had him mention you. Took a closer look and I realized "wait, is that really ZeRo?"
I've watched everyone's rewatch of the doc (hugs, chillin, m2k etc. etc.) and surprisingly this is the best one. You actually pausing and adding so much detail to the doc is such a better format than everyone else's. I can't wait to watch the whole doc like this, I hope you carry on.
I remember watching the entire documentary in one go like 4 years go. I was sick as a dog. My boss sent me home before I could clock in. I just laid in bed all day watching it lol best documentary ever!
I enjoy these kinds of videos very much because there's not much smashers on RUclips who go into detail on old school competitive smash. ZeRo isn't just reacting to the videos but he's giving us insider info on how Smash was back then. Its something I don't see much Smashers on RUclips talk about.
14:00 Something similar happened in Yugioh in 05. A tournament was organized between the best players of Germany, Austria and Swiss. A random austrian who was part of Team Austria talked mad trash in the forums and everybody hated him. Everybody was looking forward to see this guy getting beat. Not only did he win, he used a card that nobody played before and became a staple after.
Please do the rest of the series! I watched these before but you bring such great insight into them that it elevates the experience. This is less like a "Reacts" video and more like a director commentary filling in details. Great stuff!
Normally I'm not big on reaction videos, but I really enjoy watching Zero react to smash content because he always explains the backstory to everything; you can really tell he actually KNOWS what he's talking about, it isn't just a simple reaction.
Watched the documentary twice. It's the reason I watch your videos. Your commentary added to the documentary makes it like a bonus feature. It's great.
Thanks for doing this commentary man. I remember i was probably like 10 years old when melee first came out and I have only ever saw it as just a fun game me and my brother can play together. I never knew or realized competitive smash brothers was a thing until I watched some guys at my college play project m. Watching some of your commentary videos for the past few days shows me how close knit and how niche the smash community is in the past and its pretty amazing in my honest opinion.
I had no clue house tourneys were ever a thing! The way you described them sounds like a whole different world, wish there was some more vids of them and studf
you can tell he's reacting from heart and speaking his mind based off how he's bobbing up and down when he talks to the camera. usually something you only see from someone talking about something they're excited to talk about.
I completely agree with you zero when you said the best way to design a game is a low entry skill level and a high skill cap. It makes the game enjoyable to everyone and it allows you to unlock so many different techniques and it really adds to the replayability of a game like smash that seems so simple on the surface but has turned into an incredibly complex fighting game.
I really truly appreciate and enjoy this additional context that ZeRo's bringing to the doc. I've seen it three times now and to hear all this "behind the scenes" and personal experiences is just phenomenal. I'd love to see this analysis continue..
I like to think I'm a big fan of Smash but I never knew about all this stuff, it's honestly really interesting to see how Smash started before it became so big. Hearing about crews and stuff. It's fun
you must as well keep going. I really like the documentary and you giving your insight is a really nice touch. probably one of my favorite videos you’ve done.
Bro I love these videos learning more about the foundation of the Esport I'm taking up nowadays. Thank you to everyone who founded my passion, without your dedication and passion I wouldn't have this Esport
Honestly these videos are very entertaining. You may not be out there winning tourneys for ultimate, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be making quality content. You provide insight of a vet in the scene. People are always going to hate on anything new. You seem to be in your element when talking about these kinds of things/reacting. I want to see more of this kind of content.
What I love about the documentary, was that it encapsulated the period of competitive gaming that grew before the days of online gaming and tournaments. I remember that era so well, because I'm in the same age group as the original gods of smash, and I played some of those early tournaments. It's surprising that Zero remembers that with how young he is.
Not going to lie I was hoping for more like gameplay/coaching from this channel. But this is my favorite documentary being reacted to by my favorite smash RUclipsr and I’m REALLY enjoying this. Thanks ZeRo.
This really different of you zero and I 100% support your new route of content of showing us the history of smash bros and even funny moments keep it up you impress your followers I can tell.
At my High School we had a club called video game club and what we do is just play games or talk about games till 4:20,we host our own Smash tournaments my first year it was one of my friends last year he won his last tournament he signed the belt is still at the school shout out to my friend Ethan so after he left there was only 3 people who were really good at the game (Smash 4) during my last year 2 of them faced off they both played Cloud both different versions I recorded the match its uploaded on my channel and it was intense shout out to my friends Mitch and Carlos
More than anything I miss ratchet melee, my first tournament was in a hotel room, 15 smashers, half of us kids, crammed into a one bed room, my car got towed, and I slept on the floor with nothing but carpet to sleep on next to like 5 other dudes, Colbol was the youngest person there and he won. The good old days.
I really want to see zero cover more of the documentary, he really gives you some really solid context because he was in so deep looking forward to hopefully seeing more
This is the fourth commentary of the smash documentary that I will be enjoy watching. This is the 11th time I’ve watched the documentary and looking forward to this series fully cuz this shit never gets old. P.S. AIM holy shit that brings back memories XD. Also your laughter is hella contagious 😷 😆
Zero already that old grandpa telling the story of his youth. I love it, all the insider context is awesome for somebody like me who isn't all about the competitive side of video games.
I got to experience smash in 2009-2011. It was great going to smash fests and meeting the wide range of people. I was shit at the game but they always have pointers about the game. Also the territory part, I felt that in Texas with all the major cities and the highlight money match, Texas vs another state or even country during a tourney was the best.
Zero react only works when he’s knowledgeable on the subject and gives us cool insights on the videos. The meme one was hard to watch but i feel like he’s just tryna find his footing and future vids might be a lil better. Yeah these vids are stupidly easy to make but at the end of the day they’re pretty entertaining and it’s cool to see his take on stuff.
Mew2 went to my high school and he would just write down melee and brawl combos in his notebook non stop. Dude memorized the physics of the game and played it in his head
I can't believe people have been so against you doing what you enjoy. I enjoy your videos way more when I can't predict every upload. The more variety the better imo. I really loved the last couple of videos from you especially because you seem to be having fun.
hey zero, it would be amazing to go through the rest of the documentary with you, you bring so much context to these videos, it's really entertaining and educative at the same time.

I like the reactions to Smash community content, but I'm not a fan of the cringey Smash memes reaction videos
My favorite thing from Wife is him saying that two samuses with charge shots makes his butt hole pucker
Hahaah i remember that.
VidsWithLiam it was him?

That was so funny he got way too much shit for that dude
Kens mom started talking trash, that’s when it was over for her lmao
Kens mom: Very good honey you have defeated almost every top smash player in the world, well done!
Ken: What do you mean almost?!
Kens mom: Well you see, there's just one person you will never be able to defeat

I think he actually said "smelly nerds", which is even worse haha
its worse because he said "smelly"
I’ve seen this documentary like 3 times, so cool to see the ZeRo breakdown!
Saaaaame
This is honestly the best doccumentary ive seen...

Smelly Melee players/10 would never wear deodorant again, IGN
this documentary is a 4 hours long masterpiece. my favorite part is the segment on isai. he's the one who inspired me to pick up captain falcon.
There's just something about watching Isai play Falcon. He looks like he fully optomized the character in the most natural way, truly a thing of beauty.
That and his legendary sand bags, which are lowkey hilarious.
Isai is my favorite smasher. He inspires me to play Falcon as well.
dude is a god lol too bad he loves to sandbag
Me too dawg!
I would love to see your reaction to the entire thing 100%
Walker Farnsworth why?
