A bit late for today's video! Sorry! Also if the winner doesn't respond in a couple days, I'll re-roll and announce on twitter/instagram for updates. Enjoy the almost-30 minute long upload though!
Hearing about his dad crashing into a cement wall made me recall my accident being rear ended on a freeway and crashing into one myself. I am literally tearing up at work hearing this, and am thankful to be alive, albeit with a really messed up back.
That marathon analogy is spot on. Every tourny i've been to i've had one match that was always down to the last set last stock both of us over 100% and every time i win those. i immediately lose my next match cause i'm so exhausted from the previous one. feels bad man
I think this is the most inspiring video I have ever watched in my whole life. for someone who doesn't really get that emotional at all, I cried at the end. It really gave me a new view on things.
ZeRo, your comeback story is amazing dude!!! You lived in a small town in Chile, got bullied, your father left, but now, you've won 56 Smash Bros. tournaments in a row!! Have a beautiful fiancee, and a RUclips channel with over 1 million subscribers. Congrats dude!! You are one amazing person!!!!!!
Just seeing this video and realizing that KoreanDJ and Zero almost have the same vibes fir their backstories. Also, you're the best man! Really love your vids
Great discussion on KDJ! Thinking of what you were saying at the end, ZeRo ~ I attended a tournament for my favourite game, Naruto Storm 4, I won the tournament. But during it, one of the top 3 players came up to me and he said that he might give up, the pressure was getting him, he knows he will lose and so on... I remember saying to him "No, don't give up. Even if you feel you can't win, play your hardest still, if you're going to lose, at least know that you lost doing your best" alongside that little speech I gave him some tips and advice for his playstyle and thankfully he listened and gave a great show in losers finals! I feel it's up to other competitive players in these scenes to help each other out and improve. Something I realise in competitive FGC is that you're mostly on your own, people won't lend a hand, and similar to what happend with ZeRo, people will be happy when you lose and it sucks! I think if players boosted each other more no matter how good or bad you are, it makes competing all the more fun and can bring out the best in players!
I watched a handful of your older Ultimate videos recently and its really striking how much weight youve lost Zero. Its inspiring to me especially because my weight has been something I've struggled with my whole life. Seeing you really make that great shift is so impressive to me. I hope you see this just to know how much you making a change to better your life is inspiring to so many other people. I hope this is something that can help you move forward in your weight loss journey
If I was ever alone after a tragedy happened in my life.. I'll fire up my Pokemon games and play with them until I feel better about a brighter tomorrow.
Awesome video as usual man. First thing I do when I get to work is make my coffee and turn on the daily Zero vid. Zero, would love to see more videos of your smash career... specifically "behind the scenes" of being sponsored as a professional smash player and what it was like being sponsored by TSM. How was the pay, what things did they demand of you and if you could change who sponsored you, what company would it have been? Very curious about how their business models work.
You say that, but there's still people that joke about that dark stuff when it happened to them or their friends. It just depends on how much them and their friends care about it, especially compared to how much they care about comedy.
The situation in regards of beating the best player(s), only to lose to another player in a tournament. this is very similar to the quarantine series this past weekend where Void took down MKLeo in a 3-2 of a sheik v lucina match, only to lose the next match against a g&w. Love the video, Zero. keep it up with covering older stories of smash history!
Honestly, all your videos are inspiring, but this one hit me hard. I'm at a very low time in my life right now and I'm really just don't want to live anymore. I can't play smash cause my controller is defective and my internet sucks, but this video really hit me hard. Thank you so much ZeRo. You gave me a reason to keep living.
I met Daniel years ago from UMass Boston. He's a chill guy. We had mutual friends there. I just never that he lost the finals match nor the incident with his dad. That said, I don't think it matters if he didn't win the match. I mean he made it, and frankly made a name for himself as a pro gamer. You can't take that away.

I've not been in super major tourneys like this but I was a martial arts competitor and I've been on that stage where people from across the country comes to look at you. Mind you I was just 12 at the time and the pressure, the excitement and all that was overwhelming for me. What is most surprising about it is I still managed to get back two gold medals in two categories although I didn't get a medal for the last category. For me the best thing about the entire thing wasn't the medals I won in the end it was the experience that doesn't come too often to me that really instilled the confidence in me that I still retain to this day when overcoming problems.

I hung out with Dan a few times back in high school at his house. My friend Tom introduced me to a bunch of high level players, like DJ, Dieminion, etc because he wanted me to become a high level player... but it was never for me.
