Ditto. I'm an old dog too. Love this tote, all the pockets and zippers, and the versatility to use quilt blocks or other fabric. I think I might give up on purses. I carry too much to close the zipper on them and it's embarrassing. Could even make a fit a purse organizer in this..
Okay, so I'm quite senior... and have my not so mocha moments... is there a tutorial on making the tulip front panel? Bought the pattern a few minutes ago and would love to see your lovely work. Thanks for letting me bug you, but your comment seems so inviting.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. This is now my favorite bag tutorial as I love my bags to have a zipper closure as I am a klutz! Thanks again for all your great tutorials.
Great instruction video Erica . The fabric you chose is beautiful. Happy Memorial Day to you and your family. Remembering you Father and honor to your Mom💕🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏🏻
It was so great meeting you yesterday and seeing this tote in person! You are just as sweet in person as in your videos. I’ll be buying this pattern and a few more today. 🧵🪡 -Jill
I like all the pockets on the quilted weekend tote bag can I do all the pockets on that bad and just the zipper like you are doing in this video instead
Lovely tutorial, appreciate your sharing the detailed techniques. Q. please... where'd you get the Tulip Tote quilt (block???) design? I love this and would love to make one for my sweet sister who is in assisted living (dementia... so sad for me). Thank you for sharing your time and talent. Look forward to discovering more of your tutorials. Blessings to all.
I find that with bags that have linings, that if I sew the gussets from the bag and the lining together that the lining does not come out when I pull something out of the bag. Just a tip that I like. Love the material for sure!
While the steam a seam is a great product, I use double sided tape is much quicker. Dritz has 1/4 inch double sided tape or dollar tree has some not quite so thin but very sticky. I love making bags and I love this tutorial because it integrates quilting and bags my fav! Beautiful as always Erica!
I'm seeing lots of great tips in this! Plus, I've never tried a zipper on a roll.. and you show how to do that too! 😅 Bought your PDF pattern today! Someday.. I'll attempt this...😊
I love your videos! They are so very happy and helpful! Even the music is good as well as the occasional Jax shot…saw his legs while you were sewing. Thank you! Bought the tulip boat as well as 3 other patterns. Great sale!
Beautiful bag. I will definitely be getting this pattern. I never put zipper pockets back to back as it causes bulk when you put items in them. Thank you for the tutorial.
I haven’t even watched it yet but this is already my favorite project you have ever posted!!!! I’m going to fabric shop this weekend to get stuff to make this adorable bag!
Oh My Goodness, Erica! This is perfect and it looks So Good. I just Love it and I know I should have held my order until today so I could have included this bag, but I was worried that the paper patterns would be all gone due to your sale this week. (Btw, I know I have left my PDF patterns and need to print those out but I’m unsure how to do that part of the task. I tried unsuccessfully though. And hubby said I should receive my pattern’s tomorrow, Yay! ) Thank You So 🥰👍, Chris
Hi! To print your PDF patterns, you can log in to your account then click the 'download' button. The file will most likely save in your 'downloads' folder on your computer. If that doesn't work RIGHT click the download button and select 'save file as' and that should work :) Then you can open and print as needed!
love this, excellent instructions.. but wondering how you would do the zip if you have a ready made zipper.. I think I can figure it out but just curious..
If you're referring to the top zipper, I would get a longer zipper than you need so you can cut it down. That will be much easier to sew. If you're referring to the inset zipper in the back pocket, then get one that is the correct length for your pocket. Hope that makes sense.
Gonna be ma 1:40 king his tote! Thank you for tutorial. Also where can I find that pink magnetic pincushion. Browsed your favorites but did not see it.
That's a very cute bag! I am a knitter and crocheter so I do have a question... If the yarn is in the bag while working, will the yarn snag on the recessed zipper when you pull it to knit or crochet with?
Yes, I would be careful with knit projects in zipper bags! That said, you can fold the recessed zipper down inside the bag and it stays pretty well, but still be careful with your yarn :)
You only have to separate the zipper if you get zipper tape by the yard like I did :) The other one you can leave together and just adjust the tab as needed so you can sew around it.
As old as I am, and as many bags I’ve made, I’ve never made an inset zipper in the top of the bag! Thanks for showing this old dog a new trick☺️

Erica, thank you for the step by step to do the zippers and pockets. I'm learning so much from your videos.
Love the details that you provided in this video. Appreciated that you went slowly so I could understand all the steps!❤❤
Great tutorial Erica! And thanks for your wonderful sale too! Love supporting fellow pattern designers and RUclipsrs! 💕💕
You are so darn good at tutorials!
Wouldn’t this bag make a lovely double gift, as a gift bag to hold a tummy-time quilt gifted to a new mother?
Excellent step by step instructions, plus hidden tips throughout! Thank you. I love your teaching style!
I love your tutorials. I haven't put one into practice yet but I will soon. I also love the bloopers at the end of your videos. 💛💛
So so cute - got my pattern this morning. Looking forward to making my tote - thank you Erica for another wonderful project.

Just purchased this adorable pattern. Thanks for the video! I'm always a little bit intimidated by bag zippers, but your tutorial is quite clear.
Oh that is beautiful!!
I love your videos! They are so very happy and helpful! Even the music is good as well as the occasional Jax shot…saw his legs while you were sewing. Thank you! Bought the tulip boat as well as 3 other patterns. Great sale!
It SHOULD say “Tulip bag”…..not boat!
Beautiful bag. I will definitely be getting this pattern. I never put zipper pockets back to back as it causes bulk when you put items in them. Thank you for the tutorial.
Preciosa bolsa, siempre eres una sorpresa al elegir las telas. Gracias por todos tus tutoriales.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Very nice tute,thanks
I really like your ironing “board”. Did you make it or was it purchased? Great tutorial. You do a marvelous job. Love Jax!
I made it, here's the tutorial: ruclips.net/video/kIrjAix_6fM/видео.html
Gonna be ma 1:40 king his tote! Thank you for tutorial. Also where can I find that pink magnetic pincushion. Browsed your favorites but did not see it.
It's from Fat Quarter Shop, search Pink Flower Magnetic Pin Bowl: bit.ly/2B6rzS8
That's a very cute bag! I am a knitter and crocheter so I do have a question... If the yarn is in the bag while working, will the yarn snag on the recessed zipper when you pull it to knit or crochet with?

What is the name of the fabric on the mat with all the colors on it, stars etc? I love it!!
Oh! BTW, does that zipper on a roll have a wrong and a right side? If so, is it up or down when you put on the pull? 🤐
Yes, the teeth look super flat on the backside, and the teeth look more "raised" on the front side. It's probably easier to see in person.
Well, dumb me... I'm so stressed! Finally saw / visited link for the tulip tote pattern. Apologies everyone. 😬
Glad you found it, and hope you enjoy the pattern :)
Zipper instructions included in pattern?
What kind of iron is that?
Oliso ProSmart: amzn.to/3jV0XIh
i was disappointed that you did not show how to do the flower
A bit confusing, especially separating the zipper. I don’t do that. I just stitch the zipper down…?
I don’t haveto tab them by sewing it down…
You only have to separate the zipper if you get zipper tape by the yard like I did :) The other one you can leave together and just adjust the tab as needed so you can sew around it.
