I kinda wish people would spend a little more time with these products and then give a review. I have had two (2) for a month now. I've lost a spring retainer on one of the shocks and the shocks leak (no big deal). The drag brake is so abrupt and annoying that I switched from the 1625ESC to a 1060ESC, and that is much smoother. I burned out one motor (maybe because of that drag brake?) and replaced it with an Amazon 12V/1000rpm motor+reduction gearbox which is half the speed of the original but much smoother, more torque, and more control. And lastly, one of mine began to display that "mixed" characteristic where the truck shot forward when you turned the steering wheel. After much RUclips study, I figured out how to change the transmitter back and forth between normal and mixed. But that did not fix it. So then I wanted to bind the receiver of the faulty truck with the transmitter of the correctly working truck, but I could not get that receiver into bind mode! Then I tried to get the receiver in the correctly working truck into bind mode, and I could not! Has anyone successfully re-binded these new fangled receivers (with the light control pins)??? And if so, how???
To answer my own question, I figured it out, and this might be of benefit to anyone wanting to re-bind this truck. The button you see on the side of the receiver is NOT the bind button. The bind button is on the other side of the receiver, hidden by the gearbox and impossible to reach without dismounting the receiver. I did dismount the receiver, and I did successfully bind the receiver to a couple of transmitters. When I remounted the receiver, I used 3M reclosable fastener tape. The receiver does not have enough mass to pull itself off. What that other button does, I have no idea. It is another easter egg, kinda like the blue light rings...
I put the Exceed RC version of these wheels tires on an MN D90 and a modded MN 45. They work well for crawling/trailing with a hex adapter. I think this scale looks better with the larger and wider tire package.

I wish they had a set of upgraded tires for these. it's the only thing setting it back with just no grip to get up rocks or bump over sticks. Regardless you're getting your value here in electronics with the hobbywing, dumbo 4ch and light system
Funny when I was 13 I was kind of frowned upon for playing "cars" in the mud. Here we are 30 years later and STILL playing in the mud! lol "the only difference between the men and the boys is the price of their toys" hahahah

Don't RGT make some really great trucks? A bit of a shame about the lack of low speed modulation, with the planetary reduction and the hobbywing ESC you'd think it would be really good.
Yeah, I mean it's a really nice a capable truck.. but needs that low end. Not many of these small scale have it unfortunately. It would be good if Hobbywing could make a smaller version of the 1080!
This does seem to offer a great deal of value for money, and I agree that both in terms of build quality and electronics it appears to be a cut above the products offered by WPL, Fayee, MN Models etc. One thing has been increasingly puzzling me recently, though - why have so many manufacturers fixated so completely on the Defender body, with so many interesting options available? If they have good reason to stick with Land Rover, there are the Series IIA and Series III, for example, as well as the civilian forward control Series IIB, the military Lightweight and the 101. If we were to cast our net wider, they could offer us the Suzuki LJ80, the Daihatsu Wildcat or the early Patrols from Nissan. I´m tired of this very limited choice of Defender, Jeep or LC70! Am I the only one?
Yes agree... so many more choices! WPL have a lovely LC80 Hardbody, official release tomorrow. You can be sure to see it on here in less than 24hrs. It's really nice! But still, it's not Nissan Patrol!

I love the smaller scale crawlers, they reminded me of terrier dogs that will take anything on and never give up.

Well, it took some abuse for a cheap vehicle! Nice little crawler, a pin is nothing.
Such a weird scale size .. to small to run with the 1/10 and too big to run on a 1/24 course.
Perfect size for narrow deer trails. I run a fpv camera on 1/16 WPL, but am upgrading to rgt…. See my latest video.
